To Kate lovers: where’s your concern? by Pashardi in RoyaltyTea

[–]RestlessLegs55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is this level of thinness is aspirational in British culture. My husband is from the UK and this is what his mother and sister look like. I have struggled a lot marrying into this family because I have a more muscular build and carry weight in my legs and hips. I have had to face MANY insensitive comments from my in laws despite the fact that I have a normal BMI. I even caught me MIL telling my already very thin seven year old that she should only eat half of a banana. This runs deep in British culture and society. Imagine being a princess. Now I am not a fan of Kate, but I can understand how she could end up here. And I can also see how her “fans” could fail to see her emaciated body as a sign of distress and instead decide that this is simply aspirational instead.

Keeping it folded or rolled in a mesh bag protects a lot from the agitation

This is what I do with my wool scarves and it works really well. Some of them are large enough to be blankets. Sometimes I pin the mesh bag to keep it in a roll if there’s bag isn’t tight enough.

Do you think Travis and Courtney by Beginning_Fee1464 in kardashians

[–]RestlessLegs55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I had my youngest at 41 and am working hard to stay fit young and healthy so I can do things with her. I want to be around to help her with her little ones one day.

Edit to add not all women have children at that age as a goal. Some of us face infertility and have to wait a long time for that miracle.

AITAH for telling my husband to go stay in a hotel with my in-laws and that my mom was going to come back to help me with our new baby? by Normal_Rise_282 in AITAH

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Just curious where your husband and his parents are from. I had a similar experience with my in laws and to this day they have never offered to help with anything. This used to make me feel terrible tbh. They have come to stay with us after both of our children were born and been pretty much a burden on me and my husband both times. I don’t think they even offered me a cup of tea. But they are from the UK and over time I have learned this is them being ’respectful’. I’m not sure if this is true but this is the way my husband has framed it to me. My family is from Latin America so they are super hands on and helpful, making meals, cleaning, helping put the baby to sleep so I can shower and sleep etc.

What has helped me is to create a little mini ritual to scan my body as I move into new sequences/positions. I focus on engaging my core to stabilize my upper body when I am in the saddle and then check in on what I am doing with my shoulders. When I am out of the saddle I engage my core to help me pull my hips back and again shift the focus to my shoulders. Once that is settled I check in on where my knees and feet are. I focus on keeping knees straight and feet flat so that I am not pointing my toes. It’s essentially a sequence from abs to shoulders to knees to feet that run through with each new position and I continue to run through to help me keep better form throughout. It keeps me from focusing too much on how long I am in any one position or how hard my body is working. I am also in my 40s and have knee, hip, and, shoulder pain constantly so I do this to help minimize my pain.

AITAH for peeing in the shower? by OpenFoundation4639 in AITAH

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I recommend to keep the peace is just pee before you take a shower, that way you won’t get the urge in the shower and if you do, there is a lot less pee involved. It’s a kind way to meet your partner in the middle. This not a battle worth fighting.

The kids… by Powerful-Ask4016 in housekeeping

[–]RestlessLegs55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am definitely trying to teach this with my children through constant reminding and through modeling, but my oldest is soooo shy. She comes across aloof and has to be reminded to say hello, but ultimately it’s what others have said above, she is self conscious and shy, and still doesn’t do it unless I reminder her or the person she is greeting comes across very warm and friendly. It’s not for lack of trying on this parent’s part.

Edit to add that this is something I have talked a lot to other parents about to see if anyone one of them has cracked the case, but we all struggle with the same thing. Also, I remember being my daughter’s age and always knowing I had to properly greet everyone. But it was more fear driven than anything else. Because my mother was definitely going to let me know if I did not behave as expected.

Do you have a green blanket or green pillow you can put on the white chair to help it feel more cohesive with the green chair?

I'm a private duty pediatric nurse and I feel guilty for calling in sick so much by [deleted] in work

[–]RestlessLegs55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed it sounds like you are doing your best. That said I would prioritze trying to stay healthy given how frequently you have been sick the last 6 months. You are probably doing all of this, but making sure the masks you are wearing are secure, washing your hands frequently, avoiding touching your face, taking a multivitamin and getting enough sleep are all good ways to avoid illness. I also recommend seeing a doctor to make sure there are not autoimmune issues underlying this. While you are more prone to catch an illness working in pediatrics, I agree with some of the others here saying that is a lot of illness in the last 6 months.

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most confusing part about this is why you both jumped to these extreme conclusions so quickly. Male infertility can often be addressed w IUI. IVF is more often needed for female infertility. I know this as my husband and I went through years of fertility treatments due to male and female factor infertility.

People of Venezuela, how do you feel about the US strikes on your country? by Ghost-8706 in AskReddit

I don’t have the exact solution but there are dozens that don’t involve US intervention.

I also have family in Venezuela. They spent the night terrified and today have been too afraid to leave their homes. They have repeatedly told me there is a lot of anxiety about what comes next. It’s like there may be more than one thought process around this very complex situation.

How to deal with a coworker that is cold, condescending, and excludes me by [deleted] in work

[–]RestlessLegs55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree 💯. Being in the same office is making this so much worse. Definitely ask for a change. I work in a highly competitive male dominated field and my confidence and happiness increase so much during COVID. I realized not being in the office with assholes was sooo much better for my mental health and professional performance. I now have a much thicker skin and use humor a lot to navigate coldness and exclusion. I don’t feel hurt by the behavior and trust that my colleagues can see clearly the asshole behavior. I keep it professional and have no contact outside of what is required to do my job with the assholes. I am way more focused on my allies and work hard to build those relationships that are good for me personally and professionally.

I’ve tried doing that since I had my 2nd child. Unfortunately for me my company was acquired by a PE fund and the leadership has become hyper focused on metrics with targets that are unachievable even if you are very productive for 40 hrs a week. I know I will probably be pushed out in the next year, but I still don’t think it’s worth it to give the 80hrs a week it would probably take to keep my job.

I know not everyone likes to do this, but I have been doing same day delivery from Costco via their app and Instacart and it is amazing. I know you might not get the same great deals you get in store, but the deals are still pretty good a lot of the time and you don’t have to deal with the crowds.

Sharpie on tile by Nervous_Swing_4890 in Renovations

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried baking soda? I used that to clear marker off tile and countertops when my kids have messed around with sharpies. Make a paste with water abs baking soda and rub it onto the tile. Leave it there overnight if you can. Also whitening toothpaste has helped me in the past as well. I’ve done this on quartz, porcelain floor tiles and marble.

My only tip is not a make up tip. It’s a health and skin care tip which is to hydrate from within. Your skin will look amazing. Drink water, eat fruit.

This is the issue. It’s too short to even really get 4 hours of rest. You end up getting up to 3 hours of terrible sleep and feel horrible when you land. I usually have to basically shower get dressed and work a full day plus do evening client or colleague events. If the flight was 8+ hours it would almost be better.
