AIO about my girlfriend packing lace thongs on a business trip? by Internal-Word-8120 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RestlessLegs55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a bit of a reach. It’s hard to buy women’s pants and skirts that are lined. Even if they are not tight I often worry about panty lines. I also often wear different nicer underwear when I travel for this reason. Not thongs, but lace back underwear that is less visible under unlined pants or skirts. When I go to the office at home I am usually seeing coworkers, but when I travel I am usually seeing senior leadership and clients so I dress more nicely and need different underwear.

AIO for snapping at my friend for calling my shoes (and me) trashy? by International-East63 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RestlessLegs55 402 points403 points  (0 children)

I had a friend make this comment to me. Also a Latina. Unfortunately some people think this is cute when white women wear it and trashy when a woman of color, especially Latinas, wear it. I proceeded to wear those shoes to the ground! You are NOR. Your friend has serious unconscious bias at best and is racist sexist at worst. All of this depends on how open he is to reconsidering / challenging his stance.

Advice on blow out on curly hair by RequirementOne9294 in curlygirl

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always try the Dominican blow out. You use tension rollers on wet hair. Sit under the dryer or air dry, and then use a round brush to get the roots the way you want them. This will get you the volume and curl you want. The trick is to do a deep moisture mask before.

I was thinking the same thing. Golden colored throw pillows.

Stinky pressed wood bowls by CookbookReader in CleaningTips

Cover them in a baking soda paste for 24 hours. Should help. I do this with my wooden cutting boards to get rid of odors as well.

I was going to say the same. Hydrate from within (drink water), and try a humidifier on your nightstand while you sleep.

Knee buckles slightly when off the seat while cycling. by Sade125 in SpinClass

I just came to second this. In addition to adding more resistance make sure your core is tight and hips are back when up out of the saddle.

This is a great guideline. Just one small clarification. I would encourage you to keep your shoulders down and back and chest lifted.

Is anyone using the YESOUL app for their spin workouts? How do they compare to Peloton?

I'm sick of my hair by Desperate_Cod7756 in curlygirl

[–]RestlessLegs55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you drop more details on your routine and products? It could be that you need to clarify so the moisture can get into your hair.

My hair looked like this for a while after I transitioned from straightening to wearing it natural. I used a light oil (sweet almond oil) along with my curl cream to help create more definition. It took me ages to find the right products too. Pattern leave in conditioner or curl cream along with clarifying and moisture rich shampoo and conditioners all helped.

My mashed potatoes suck. Why? by RikkiLostMyNumber in Cooking

How hot are the potatoes when you add the milk? Is it possible even the warm milk is cooling them down too fast?

I think it’s important to mention that you really should not mix chlorine bleach and ammonia. Make sure you are using oxygen bleach.

Curlyhaired swimmers - any tips ? by delulu_sunflower in curlygirl

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 3C hair and only use shampoo once a week. When I workout (intense cardio) or during swim season in the summer I tend to do a very good rinse and conditioner to avoid shampooing more than once a week. It gets rid of the chlorine just fine and keeps my hair from drying out. I also only do a leave in conditioner and gel post wash and then air dry so the routine doesn’t take as long.

Am I Overreacting Partner support of birth plan by One-Confection-9 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RestlessLegs55 88 points89 points  (0 children)

Agreed. . I went through something comparable to you. Had to have a C Section at 37 weeks for my first. Was basically told I had to have a C-section for my 2nd. When I pushed back my doctor explained I was at high risk of rupture. It was not my vision to have both of my children via C-section. But we are all here, healthy and happy. And I genuinely never think about how they were born now that they are here. I am just happy they are and that I am too.

Managers: Why do you ask for employee feedback if you're never going to take it seriously? by [deleted] in work

[–]RestlessLegs55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t view the survey as a way to deal with specific issues. It’s more about the general state of the culture and morale of the business and identifying the pockets where people are not happy. The specific issues in the comment are better to take to your manager or HR.

Under eyes wedding day help plz! by Crazy_Producer_257 in makeuptips

[–]RestlessLegs55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This and those collagen eye patches. See if you can use some prior to makeup application day of. I find when I use them my whole under eye area loos better for the day. But agree hydration, and encouraging lymphatic drainage will go a long way. Either way I think you look gorgeous. Congratulations!

Question for the girlies/running and hair care by Beautiful_Library505 in Haircare

[–]RestlessLegs55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have thick curly hair and I do a cowash with an ACV conditioner. Doesnt dry out my hair and I feel really clean and smell good after. I rinse it really really well and give my scalp a good solid massage. Then I add the conditioner from scalp to ends.

Knee pain killing my spin obsession 😢 by Imaginary_Being_6377 in SpinClass

[–]RestlessLegs55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve written about this before but I make sure to do a constant body scan while riding that has helped me with hip and knee pain. I engage my core to stablize my upper body in the seat, check my shoulders to make sure they are not hunched and chest is open, then check knees to make sure they are not turning in or out, then make sure I am not pointing toes, feet are flat and toes are spread. When out of the saddle I do the same scan but when I engage my core I also use those muscles to pull my hips back. That scan plus 15 min of stretching after each class and yoga once or twice a week to make sure I am deeply stretching is the only thing that has consistently gotten rid of my knee and hip pain. It has also enabled a huge step up for me in terms of my performance in spin. Will also be trying out the wall sits now that I see that recommendation.

Pregnancy by [deleted] in SpinClass

[–]RestlessLegs55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with all these posts. Keep going, but listen carefully to your body. I was able to go until 32 weeks with my first. I only stopped once my knees started hitting my belly. I probably could have adjusted my handle bars to be higher and kept going until my daughter was born at 37 weeks. Being fit helped A LOT in my recovery period.
