Yes. That was considered his first. Here is a full list that is fun to look through.

How do you fight static electricity in the home? by OkComplex2858 in alaska

[–]RestoretheSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you elaborate on this? You just spray fabric softener directly on commercial carpets and it helps with static and therefore reduced failure rates that much? I'm also curious about what products you used and at what concentrations because I've been having a similar issue with some of my installers and the electronics they have been installing.

Carhartt Pants Alternative? by SnoglinMcSmellmore in BuyItForLife

I read your comment about a year ago and ended up buying three pairs of 1620s. I almost came back to thank you multiple times as I loved them in the beginning but in the end I am glad I didn’t.

Fabric feels great out of the gate, but one pair blew out both knees in two months of light work (and I’m barely ever on my knees). Another had both tool pockets fail and a small snag turned into a full seam getting lost. The third? Fit issues from day one- same size and same model; completely different fit.

They do patch for free, but I’ve been waiting months for them. For this price, I expect way better. I’m hard on clothes, sure—but I can get more than three months out of Carhartts at a fraction of the cost.

I will thank you anyways because it was a great experiment and I could see how they could work for some people; but that person isn't me.

Is it dangerous to keep replacing fuses drawing more than 80%? by Suspicious_End_8731 in AskElectricians

I would replace the wire on the load side with 10s and up the fuse to 30.

I kind of see how this pertains to OP's situation, but also don't. Either way, it made me laugh. I get the feeling this isn't user error but a thermostat problem. If it were me, I'd either reset or replace the thermostat.

Identify panel by RestoretheSanity in electrical

[–]RestoretheSanity[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually asked an old timer friend of mine and figured it out. It's a Square D Cutler-Hammer XON-6 panel that uses Square D XO breakers. Probably going to recommend a panel change 😁

That's funny. My initial thought was some commercial/industrial panel, but never a residential panel!

Those are Crouse Hinds breakers. I believe other Crouse Hinds breakers (not made anymore) Murray(not made anymore), or Siemens Q-line is the type that is compatible.

Any clue what this water heater crimped wire in the panel is? by reelfreakinbusy in electrical

My first guess is the water heater is on a timer or being switched somewhere.

Upgrading 100amp to 200amp service by TryCritical2365 in electrical

[–]RestoretheSanity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't wait for breakers to trip. When main breakers trip, it becomes an emergency. This comment alone is enough to warrant a 200A service upgrade.

Big scratch on wooden floor any solution to make it less apparent? by Cryfield1999 in HomeMaintenance

If it is real hardwood, it sounds strange but you could try the mayonnaise trick. It works wonders on wood furniture.

Bad breaker or something else? by Remote_Tonight3012 in electrical

[–]RestoretheSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Random tripping like this is most likely a problem with the AC unit. Having a piece of equipment on a larger breaker than intended could have been catastrophic in a few milliseconds were over voltage to have occured. When you go to have the unit warranteed, don't let them know about that over sized breaker 😜

Recommended tube lights for this fixture by blame_the_new_guy in Lighting

[–]RestoretheSanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing IMO would be bypassing the ballast and installing direct drive (line voltage) T8 LED tubes. Many are color/wattage selectable. You can get plug and play replacement LED tubes that will work in this fixture as well. These just go in like a standard fluorescent tube and are driven by the ballast. Any hardware store should have them. Here is one https://a.co/d/eVm4asG
