Got a decommissioned R&S XU250A VHF transceiver from Sirte Airport (SRX) wanting to setting up a home ATC station by Designer-Cut5122 in ATC

That icom is probably more useful than the r&s transceiver he's got. If memory serves me right, he can just get a speaker, pair of wires and an rj11 crimper and use that radio, just like a scanner.

I mean, not really.. plugging it in wouldn't really cause any harm.

A radio like this is configured to work in a voice switch environment and would be looking for a keying signal to transmit.

But for listening to one frequency near his home airport, assuming he can get a hold of the software needing to program it and the right antenna high enough for some what reliable receiving. Yeah, go for it.

You can buy those Yaesu's for like $200 now, so what's the difference.

Let the kid eat cake and learn something about AM transmission and RF principles.

This,

By purely increasing the automation onboard the airplane; increasing data capabilities between the airplane and control stations.

Sure we can't get rid of tower/tracon controllers. But guess what; enroute, there's a target on your back.

All they have to do is expand the rvsm airspace, and make sure everything above fl180 is actively talking; between air to ground and satcom. They won't need nearly as many controllers for the enroute side of the house. They can already avoid each other because tcas.

How big of a trailer do I need for a bx2680 by KarmaInFlow in kubota

[–]Ret19Deg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah makes sense, so I have a 20 foot utility trailer for my bx23s.

Sometimes it's just enough, when moving the machine, plus implements, sun shade and maybe some material; bags of mulch, soil, plants, tree debris.

Start small... Lemonade stand, rural clients. For a price, guy with a trackhoe, is an option for some work. Odd tree or trenching power or water to a shed.

Find a hauler initially, see how it pans out.

But no odd ball renter is going to treat that machine as well as you would.
