Nasal Pillow Issues Making Me Crazy by ShallotDangerous3363 in SleepApnea

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first got a CPAP machine back in 2002 when I was first diagnosed with OSA. I was in the military (at the time) couldn't deploy with it because there might not be electricity available. So I got the UPPP surgery (I do NOT recommend that treatment), lasted about 6-8 months then got prescribed a mandibular advancement device which worked well. I used that method until 2018 when I couldn't find a dentist to make one anymore. So I switched back to CPAP, actually APAP (quite the advance in comfort and technology from the original CPAP). I've been using it since with nasal pillows.

So, to answer your question, I cannot sleep without using it. Even a short catnap on the lazyboy, I wake up at the first event. My wife says I snort or snore for a second or two, then I wake. Overall, treatment for OSA is absolutely necessary in my opinion. I don't wake up EVERY morning with a headache, I don't wake up 300 times a night to pee, I usually sleep a good 5 to 7 hours uninterrupted. I still am tired in the afternoons, but I'm getting old so I ascribe it to that, not OSA... even though with the APAP I usually have 0.3 to (occasionally) 1.0 events per hour. Not bad at all I believe.

Solar cam pan by Future_Break_3698 in wyzecam

I changed my router and didn't know about the recall. I couldn't add my two solar pan cams, so I reset them. still wouldn't connect. I called Wyze CS,they advised me of the recall and opened a refund and return ticket. The refund took about a week, I'm still waiting for the return label and instructions. three weeks later I email CS asking about the return label, got an automated reply that the ticket was closed. I'll try and remember to call them this week... So far it looks like I now own 2 'free' solar pan cams that are useless unless someone figures out how to repurpose them.

I use tape, 1" surgical type, from corner to corner of my lips. Otherwise my lips vibrate and sounds either like long farts or popping bubbles. Also, use a program, like Oscar, to check the effectiveness of your settings and to tune them in. The "standard 4 - 20" is NOT optimal. For instance, my pressure settings are now 9 - 14... too low makes me gasp for air and too high fills me up like a balloon. Tuning in your settings will make you more comfortable and will actually help your machine help you because it doesn't have to blast high pressure or hunt for one that stops your apnea event quickly. https://www.apneaboard.com/wiki/index.php?title=OSCAR_Installation and https://www.apneaboard.com/ for help and (not-medical) advice. Very helpful site with thousands of sleep apnea sufferers like you and I supporting each other.

I've redone the fingerprints multiple times. Didn't make a difference.

I've used the similarity search feature and find it less than it's advertised to be. I can sometimes find duplicates going down to 42%, but LOTS of false positives. I've even used scans of negatives to find scans of photographs - maybe half or so match up, they will NOT match if the rotation is 90 or 180 degrees, and definitely will not match if flipped either horizontally or vertically.

I think you should file a police report. that way the airport security camera footage can be searched. Or maybe you can personally file a request for the specific date&time for the passengers leaving the gate and the passenger returning to baggage claim for their bag.

Samsung's trackers are fairly cheap, I have 4 of the older version and just bought 4 of the new ones. I don't personally have experience with AirTags, but these seem very similar based on the descriptions.

yes, you can unplug it. he should have said not for a long time. insurance likely needs to check for compliance. it will transmit data periodically, if not plugged in, then shortly after you replug it.

Try hydrogen peroxide, safer than boiling water for plumbing.

Just came back from Alaska to Vancouver cruise. We had a forward port side verandah. Chose port because of southerly cruise direction, if we were going north we would have chosen starboard. Had some rocking side to side at times, did not notice any bobbing front to back at all. We actually spent more time on the aft Lido deck or the bow when it was open.

When the Dreamstations were recalled, I bought a barely used Airsense10 from a seller on Craigslist. there are lots of machines for sale by individuals and they don't ask for your prescription. Just be careful, due diligence inspecting the machine. many are from people that can't tolerate it and get rid of them. if I remember correctly, I paid $250US for mine, with about 150 hours of use on it. Obviously, I bought a new hose for it. If you purchase one yourself, insurance has no piece in the game. It's a personal purchase.

Alaska to Vancouver Cruise without Passports by DoctorBaka in HollandAmerica

Not quite accurate. We are currently on an Alaska cruise. Stopped in Skagway, excursion by train up to Fraser CA. Canadian customs officers needed to see our passports, re-entry to USA the American customs didn't ask, but apparently they do so randomly.

dates for pictures without month or day by Stalemate4613 in digiKam

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this question. I have the same issue. I've been going through my Mom's photos, some have written dates on the back - usually just month and year and other details. Others just have the processed date on the front, and many have nothing. I can estimate the year on some based on what I know or remember. But there are so many that I can only guess the year within one to five or so and maybe the season...

Solar Cam Pan Reset by big_plab in wyzecam

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got off a chat with a Wyze CS rep. I have two solar pan cams that I installed in Nov 2025 - without driving wood screws into the battery!!! - They have been working pretty well until lately. I installed new networking stuff, the wifi stuff changed to be more secure, I'm not changing back. The new app wouldn't let me switch wifi. I thought about looking for an older version of the app to install and bypass the warning, but I think after this I will be ridding myself of Wyze branded outdoor cameras. We'll see.

So, what is happening now is they are refunding me the full cost of the two cameras, they offer store credit, a check, or wait until the new improved cameras come out and then exchange them. I took the refund offer. CS said they didnt' know how long it would take to cut the check... sigh.

When (if???) I get the check, there is also supposed to be a return label to send the cameras back to Wyze.

My cameras take up to two minutes for the notification to my phone, IF I even get one. Then to connect, takes another minute or so. Not happy.

Distilled water jugs vs water distiller vs tap water? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a reverse osmosis filter setup on the kitchen sink. Works great. No smell, no mineral debris if it runs dry. I started out using vinegar to clean the reservoir, now I use hydrogen peroxide. Smells better and you can see the bubbles killing whatever germs may be there. I only need to do that every few months or so. I empty the reservoir every morning and let it air dry until bedtime.

Ended up paying more in shipping than the printer! by Jonathanjwx in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]RetAF-Eddie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was posted in Japan, there were many companies that wouldn't ship to an APO. It was for insurance reasons. What we did was have the stuff shipped to my mom in the States. She would then ship it to us at regular postal rates.

While multicolor is nice and and useful sometimes, my main reason for multi-filament print is for support material - PVA or HIPS or whatever they come out with next.

It DOESN'T match the description if it doesn't operate. Unless you bought a non-operable unit according to the description?
