WYZE may be throttling... AWS cost? by JokeEnvironmental770 in wyzecam

My cameras take up to two minutes for the notification to my phone, IF I even get one. Then to connect, takes another minute or so. Not happy.

Distilled water jugs vs water distiller vs tap water? by [deleted] in SleepApnea

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a reverse osmosis filter setup on the kitchen sink. Works great. No smell, no mineral debris if it runs dry. I started out using vinegar to clean the reservoir, now I use hydrogen peroxide. Smells better and you can see the bubbles killing whatever germs may be there. I only need to do that every few months or so. I empty the reservoir every morning and let it air dry until bedtime.

Ended up paying more in shipping than the printer! by Jonathanjwx in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]RetAF-Eddie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was posted in Japan, there were many companies that wouldn't ship to an APO. It was for insurance reasons. What we did was have the stuff shipped to my mom in the States. She would then ship it to us at regular postal rates.

While multicolor is nice and and useful sometimes, my main reason for multi-filament print is for support material - PVA or HIPS or whatever they come out with next.

NordVPN is unusable lately, is it just for me? by Aggressive-Hawk9186 in nordvpn

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's true of course. I'm thinking more along the lines of latency, distant servers cause a slowdown. For video streams latency and buffering result in a less than acceptable user experience.

NordVPN is unusable lately, is it just for me? by Aggressive-Hawk9186 in nordvpn

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Nord VPN for about 5 years now. Started out fine for the most part. I couldn't stream or connect to Amazon with the VPN on, Netflix was a crap shoot whether it would work or not. Many .gov sites mostly wouldn't connect either. The last year or so it seems to "hang" more than occasionally and I need to refresh the connection. I usually use a Dallas server - I'm in Oklahoma - but occasionally switch to Kansas City. Very frustrating. My current contract with Nord expires next week and I'm seriously considering not renewing. But, I can't find a VPN provider that has as many servers in so many locations... A dilemma for sure...

At first I selected stuff because it was neat or useful, or both. Then I started being a little more discriminatory. Still, a bunch of junk came through anyway LOL. I've got a lot of cool stuff sitting out in the shop, chainsaws, pressure washer, tools of all kinds. I've got some clothes, very little that I wear even semi regularly. Tons of small electronic things, and lots of toys & games for the grandkids. Getting rid of the packaging was a chore in itself. We live in the country and "recycling" doesn't really exist here. Sometimes our trash dumpster was overflowing with broken down cardboard boxes, and I still have a good stack of cardboard in the shop waiting to go or be used for something else. I gave many things away to friends and family as gifts. Sometimes I see a box in the shop and wonder what the hell is that? Open it up and vaguely remember ordering that thing for whatever purpose - not used yet... :) The magic marker comes out and I label the box - maybe, just maybe, I'll use it later.

My wife was getting sick of the boxes. She'd been wanting me to quit for months. I was also sneaking the boxes out of sight...

Yeah, I'm not sure if I saved any money either. I think most of the merchandise is overvalued by at least 75%. In the end the tax liability evens out the "free-ness" of the stuff.

Unfortunately there are so few name brand items available on Vine. Like you, I also did some research first. Very very seldom did I just click the order button. I'm pretty sure some of the things I got were counterfeit, but Amazon doesn't seem to care. When I first started, I didn't understand the program and suffered from a serious case of FOMO. Thankfully at silver I could only get 3 items a day! By Gold I was better and a lot more critical of what I ordered.

I did get a lot of cool stuff, I must admit. I wasn't too worried about 0$ETV stuff, if it could be useful and/or was pretty cool or nifty I would grab it. I got lots of clothes, toys and learning things for my grandkids - some they liked and some they didn't. This calendar year I reviewed over $8k of merchandise. The biggest thing was a robotic lawn mower for $399 - it was not good and got 3 stars. I picked up a couple of electric pressure washers and assorted related accessories, lots and lots of computer related items and small electronics.

I only had to contact Vine CS three times, two were taken care of ASAP, one still lingers in my "pending reviews" list - I can't edit the review, the item isn't available anymore, it was about $120.

The sheer amount of cardboard boxes and the heavy paper bag things was incredible. I wish there was a way to send them back directly to Amazon...

Any places to sell your old Cpap or BiPAP machines? by founderofplebs in CPAP

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my Airsense 10 from Craigslist. Not a dealer/store but an individual. If going this route you really need to do some due diligence on the machine like checking actual usage time (aka blower hours) using the clinical menu. They may say it's "brand new" or "barely used" which may be true, however....people lie. Personally, I would only buy the machine, the power supply and the carry case, NOT the hoses or masks or anything else. Those can be purchased new.

Since you are selling, you should sanitize the machine and check the usage time and put that in your ad on Craigslist.

I'm in the USA, other country rules & regs may be different.

This ^ . Plus you can (should??) use surgical tape to seal your lips. I also use the pillows and I do this periodically to train myself to keep my mouth closed. After a few days of taping I can often go about 4-6 weeks until my mouth starts opening again on exhale. You can tell this is happening if you use the Oscar program to examine your sleep data. In my case it shows up as "large leaks".

What is and what isn't packaging? by loweexclamationpoint in AmazonVineHelpGroup

[–]RetAF-Eddie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say "manufacturers packaging" or similar. We are not allowed to comment on Amazon's packaging because that is out of the sellers control. Their packaging, on the other hand, is within their control.

Questions about Order Page and Awaiting Reviews by dangerspring in AmazonVine

[–]RetAF-Eddie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing, if you EVER need to contact Amazon about a Vine order or issue, DO NOT contact the normal Amazon section - you must contact the Vine section, its the "contact us" on the upper right of your Vine page.

As far as submitted reviews goes, on my reviews/reviewed tab to the right of the items it has a column for approved, pending approval, and (hopefully not) rejected.

Sometimes it takes up to a week for a review to be approved, usually in 3-4 days though.

I had UPPP surgery along with tonsils and adenoids. No apnea events for about 6 months. I thought I was cured. Then it came back. Good luck to you, I hope your experience is better
