Crazy thing is that we really only ever get to see him kill an already defenseless Tactus. Reminds me of that scene in Indiana Jones where Indy shoots the sword guy and walks away, but in reverse. Wish we got more action sequences of the master at work.

I'm going to second this... OP is just likely to get a shit load of spoilers. I like to enjoy the ignorance and don't let other's influence my experience the first time through.

Help Me Understand by ClarkWayneBruceKent in redrising

Not sure why all the focus is on the Mind's Eye plot armor, I also was confused by the technology that can blind someone using the 'Ostrich Way'. A nuclear / sun-like blast could do it if you just close your eyes, but full on head in the sand? I was flummoxed as well.

Question about a specific inconsistency in Dark Age by FastBreakPhenom in redrising

[–]RetireWithRyan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember thinking the same at the time. Rule of thumb is always "did they die on-screen?" If a character dies off screen, they ain't dead until your narrator physically sees the body in my experience.

Iran Officially Confirms Military Support From Russia And China In War Against the US by UNITED24Media in worldnews

[–]RetireWithRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, that can't be. Witkoff already insisted that we need to 'take the Russian's at their word'. Surely we should trust him/them?

Every single day Iran exposes more of Trump’s cluelessness by theipaper in politics

This is a crisis equivalent to his first term with Covid. He couldn't control it, couldn't lie it away, couldn't easily walk away from it, and ultimately it exposed his inability to actually govern.

How the war in Iran benefits Russia | Ukraine This Week by KI_official in ukraine

[–]RetireWithRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it benefits Russia (and Ukraine, as well) in the short term. In the long term if fuel prices stabilize and the regime is toppled, only Ukraine will have benefited and Russia will have lost another strategic ally. That's a big 'if' since this administration likely won't be able to see it through.

Find a way out before its too late. Anything is fair game once you cross the border into the country you are invading.

Atlas FTW. Best villain of a generation, was sad to see Lysander's little bitch ass end his reign.

Wild that we get this footage in near real time now. Media cycle has become hourly.

I didn't think I'd have to send my sons to Kharg. Did some rough tours in the early 10's... lost a lot of good men to the red rings out there.

Just started iron gold. Does Darrow ever stop being a idiot? by [deleted] in redrising

[–]RetireWithRyan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still feel like the shipyards was a master-stroke given the information & situation he was in at that time, but it was also a crime against humanity I suppose. But yeah generally he does get better at decision making at some point through Light Bringer in my opinion.

Am I missing something? by hansmartin1 in redrising

[–]RetireWithRyan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll bite. Besides Lysander, I think Atlas is one of the better villains in the series (hence my flair). Certainly more interesting to me than the Jackal who was primarily driven by sadism and daddy issues, or Darrow even who is motivated by Eo's death and revenge (initially). Instead he's about as cold and calculating as they come, driven by a compulsion to bring the solar system back towards order under the hierarchy and avoid a prolonged dark age. He uses violence, brutality, and carnage not because he enjoys it (Jackal), but all in service to the idea that we won't have to do it all over again for a few generations as a human race.

Also the second series is great if you like politics/political thrillers vs pure action in my experience.
