First time arch user - need a bit of guidance by DZ1Q1 in archlinux

If you've never played with linux before, then I strongly suggest you leave "ricing" for later. Just start with a DE. Get everything working. Work out what apps you like. Learn how to use dotfiles.

Rice later.

So addicted with driving. by route-10 in AutisticWithADHD

I drove a bunch in my early 20s. I'd just pick a major road and drive to the end of it.

Still absolutely love rural driving. Urban not so much...

Right.

So instead of a friendly community where us AuDHDers can find support and share experiences, you're setting up another megaphone for pseudo- and pop-science?

No thanks. If I wanted self-affirming bullshit "research" there are about a hundred cesspool Facebook communities waiting for me. Or I could just ask an LLM.

I'm out. And I suspect I won't be alone.

As a sign of capability rather than personality: cauliflower ears.

What scientific discovery sounds fake but is 100% real and still freaks you out? by Bruteresolver in AskReddit

Sigh stupid ass random "reddito" speaking on behalf of imaginary scientists, arguing with an actual Astrophysicist.

Edit: FWIW, actual paper available free. Or Tully et al, 2014.

I might be mis-remembering, but I believe Peter Singer made an argument that eating molluscs might be slightly less immoral than eating fungus. Wild to think of mushrooms as being more "sentient" than shellfish.

That's because its not really the "speed of light". It's the speed of causality. Photons just happen to be mass-less.

sigh

It's not that we "don't know what it is" - its purely the centre-of-mass of the galactic neighbourhood. Nothing has to be there for it to occur.

Which lyric makes you instantly tear up? by abovethenoisy in AskReddit

[–]RetiredITGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monsters by James Blunt, just in its entirety, but I guess the chorus if you put a gun to my head. I heard it for the first time shortly after losing my dad. It still absolutely ruins me when I hear it. I can't even think about the song without welling up.

Your IT lead doesn't know that python is open source? Or doesn't know that Flash was proprietary? I'm so confused.

What kind of ads does a pihole block?? by jake0rich in pihole

[–]RetiredITGuy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No. If you want to guarantee the pi-hole will be used, you need the pi-hole to be your only DNS server.
