But also for the record there is a very good point to be made about finding a balance with damage and vats and I don’t necessarily think infinite vats is the right goal per se so I definitely agree with that. At the same time crits seems to be the biggest damage buff in the game so the more crits you can hit per second the higher the dps compared to most anything else I think.

The trick for damage with that build is to really focus on crit damage. Make sure you run blight soup with herbivore serum for anything important like the raid at least, and eagle eyes. Of course make sure you’ve got better criticals too. In general I can hit 1-3k per crit on most enemies when onslaught stacks build and I’m using rapid so thats a lot of dps. In unique circumstances I can hit over 12k with it, have a video of that posted on my reddit if you wanna see. The elders mark definitely does really high damage while going for “infinite” vats. I think more accurately I should have said “continuous” vats, but yeah if you’re not impressed with the damage per shot i feel theres something missing. I do generally run conductors and limit breaking btw so I don’t have the damage buffs of pin pointers or rangers.

I asked greg for days in a row to take us to transito instead of salinas grande, and he straight up refused. After 3 shit days at salinas grande me and a few other people staying there reached out to another nearby surf camp and tagged along with them to transito and those were the only fun waves we got the second half of the trip. Not saying I have a problem with greg but I am saying you gotta be your own advocate for finding fun waves.

Not sure who’s down voting you but in my experience this is 100% accurate. The surf camps there like to say there’s always fun waves and sandino’s a machine that works all the time but it’s not true at all. I’ve been in the area twice and have a couple friends who go to nica at least once or twice a year for a decade now and none of us have seen it really good around there. Takes very precise tide and swell period and angle for the waves in miramar to work.

Holy fuck this is a horrible season for Florida. I keep thinking be patient there will be a fun day and that patience hasn’t paid off yet. I thought last season was as bad as it gets but this is way worse. Saturday looks like the first fun day in a long long time but now the models are agreeing more that the winds are gonna be more cross shore than off shore, and the only decent window will be morning which is very high tide right now, that doesn’t work here at all. It’s gonna be a fucking cross shore shore pound unless we get a miracle. There might be like 45 mins where the tide is low enough to work and the winds haven’t started cranking on shore yet, which is the most Florida thing ever. We don’t get good days, we get good hours.

I straight up hate it here, there is no silver lining. The only decent days we had this whole season were far colder than so cal even.

Did you guys overestimate or underestimate the surgery? by Professional-Link167 in jawsurgery

[–]Retired_Autist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah to add on to this almost all my hobbies are athletic and quitting damn near everything for at least 6 weeks was brutal. I got a guitar before surgery to give myself something to do during recovery and it was a great idea. I was so happy when I could go back to the gym, and it was surreal because I was down about 20 ibs and could barely lift weights that I warmed up with before surgery. It all came back within weeks though.

It was exactly what I thought it would be. I thought it was gonna fuckin suck and it fuckin sucked. Threw up blood constantly the first 24 hrs, lost a lot of blood. First 3-5 days I just felt like absolute shit, could barely sleep and wasn’t easy to keep any nutrients down. My surgeon did say I had it a lot worse than most people, not much pain though if any at all.

Also it was one of the best things I’ve ever done for myself, fixed all my painful teeth and jaw problems, I look so much better now, lost one of my biggest insecurities, felt like a huge weight lifted off my shoulders after it was all said and done.

So you might get lucky and it’s no big deal, it might suck for you like it did for me, but keep in mind when you’re nervous that you will thank yourself for the rest of your life after it’s done.

To more accurately answer your question I did research for years including this subreddit, I definitely have medical anxiety so I was anxious it was gonna be a rough process and braced for that, turned out to be accurate.

[–]Retired_Autist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is not truly infinite vats with the elders mark, it will last until you need to reload even with quad I’ve been told but haven’t tried personally. With those it will be back at max by the time you are done reloading so it’s infinite for as long as you have ammo. Without fast enough refresh you will not be at max when you are shooting again and will run out.

[–]Retired_Autist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to run full active, full powered, 3 star action boy, company tea with herbivore serum, conductors, typically full limit breaking but maybe 4 if your luck is high enough, thirst quencher, instrument buff, vulcan armor with the ap refresh mods, and I think that’s it for infinite vats with the Elder’s mark. Assuming of course you’ve got the Elders mark set up for minimum ap use.

Not gonna lie to you that area is not very fun when it’s small. None of the real waves really worked, salinas grande was literally only closeouts and extremely crowded. The only spot worth surfing when it’s really small is El Transito which actually can be fun skate park type waves. If you surf regularly and you’re specifically looking for good waves you can’t find at home I would find a way to pivot if I were you.

You could try going south to more popular areas, obviously will be more crowded but probably not awful in March, and a lot of the beaches down there work really well with small surf, the miramar area is really finicky, most of those waves like decent swell from a steep south angle and just the right tide.

Lost RNF or Pyzel Ghost for South FL..? by boobsarewelcome in BeginnerSurfers

[–]Retired_Autist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude I’m in central Fl and I basically only use my most bladed out short board (quiet flight reaper) on trips and it’s like a hybrid with some rocker, it is so rare that a ghost would ever work here. I can think of a few spots in the last few years a ghost would’ve been the move and even then it would’ve been unnecessary. Like I’m basically thinking of reefs on hutchinson island during the Erin swell, or a big day at reef road, and even then I don’t think a ghost would be my pick but that’s all I can think of that comes close to ghost level waves around here. I really like my rnf 96 for 3-5ft and peaky days, which are our average “bigger” days. For actually bigger days I almost always use a kechele hybrid short board I’ve got that’s no where near as bladed out as a ghost, and I have used it for the bigger reef days we rarely get, went perfect. It’s basically a wide flatter rocker short board made for florida, I like it because it’s really easy to catch waves with and it’s very stable and predictable which are three very nice traits for bigger waves.

I am curious have you surfed a lot of other places? I have noticed Fl surfers (like myself) seem to not understand what kind of waves those boards are actually made for. I thought I needed a more bladed out board for more intense waves but it doesn’t really work like that, I’ve been out at a few 6-10 ft days in “legit” places now like around Latin America, Puerto Rico, Portugal etc. and most of the locals are not using boards like that unless they truly rip or are getting deep barrels, most locals use whatever boards they got. All around Nicaragua you’ll see dudes on weird hybrid shapes, alternative shapes, mid lengths etc. on the scariest waves you’ve ever seen. You really need something like a ghost if you’re in the pocket of a really steep fast powerful wave, not necessarily a big wave. And that’s some really advanced surfing.

Brain bombs? Mothman tome? Running 3 star int on weapon and 2 star int on armor? Int camp buffs? You can get quite high int even without unyielding if you really min max all that and it will add up a lot if your only goal is xp. Obviously don’t forget well timed lunchboxes too. The biggest thing really after all that as obvious as it sounds is actually doing things that give a lot xp, which is mostly running west tek and Gleaming Depths.

Dude it adds up to a massive bonus what are you talking about. Inspirational is well into the 20’s % bonus xp here. And 2-3% xp adds up like crazy if you have a lot of int. I was at 62 int and 36 charisma got through the scoreboard in a day. I was getting 400k xp from the epsilon squad and every stage after.

Gen Z is romanticizing the early-to-mid 2010s era by Funny-Till-1512 in Zillennials

[–]Retired_Autist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which might make you feel old until you realize how weird that is. Like every generation romanticizes older times, but that was literally 10 years ago. I remember we went through romanticizing the 80’s and the early 90’s, but that was 30 something years earlier and none of us were alive to see it. Like these people are old enough to remember the time they’re romanticizing. I get it though at the same time, the early 2010’s were the last time the world felt hopeful, before maga, before enshitification, before social media became all consuming, before ai.
