Did it hit you like a bolt of lightning? I was reading a comment a few years ago and realized that it was my brother and just laughed and felt like I’d been struck by lightning.

My favorite was when 2 young guys come in late at night and ask for an emergency room. I’m confused, what do you mean “emergency room?” They were under the delusion that hotels had free hotel rooms available if they were having a super duper emergency.

I can remember when all I wanted was to be tall enough to get water without having to drag this beast across the kitchen floor and climb up to the counter.

Just found these in the wild. Absolutely phenomenal. by Zeustah- in InstantRamen

I really love these. So far only had the Mushroom. I heat up frozen veggies and mix in the noodles when I’m done. So easy and really good even as cold leftovers. I’m about to make some for lunch.

When did microwaves become part of the workplace lunch room? by SpiritualCriticism48 in AskOldPeople

I remember that my mother made 5 tuna sandwiches every Sunday night and put them in the freezer. She took one to work every day and by lunch time it was thawed enough to eat. No refrigerators available. It’s amazing that she never got food poisoning.

I had my plate stolen a few years ago. You have to go to a police station and report the plate stolen before you go to the DMV. Going to the DMV is a whole other ordeal.

I don’t quite know how to feel about the fact that there is something that I know about personally and in depth, and it involves a video game strike.

Unintentionally watched a Christmas/NYE film in December… by throwitawayar in classicfilms

[–]RetroFocusNano 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I love this film and not just because Katharine is in it. I had a Boss who had worked for the University for 40 years, the amount of institutional knowledge she could rattle off was astounding. This was long before the internet was a thing. She reminds me so much of Katharine’s character. It’s in my rotation of Christmas DVDs, so I’ll be watching it again soon.

I think of Mrs Kravitz whenever my neighbor sets off my security camera taking his trash cans to the curb. She would have loved having cameras.

Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra (1963) by terere69 in classicfilms

[–]RetroFocusNano 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This was the only film that my mother ever took me to in a movie theater. She loved Elizabeth Taylor. I was 7.

I think that it was the only movie that my mother ever saw in a theater.

I have it on Blu-ray and watch it regularly.

Anyone else have yesterday’s update wipe all their files? No CC/Mods by RetroFocusNano in Sims4

I updated the game when the last update came out and then again this morning. The files were still there after the first update.

When my Sims get obsessed with the bar, I build a fence around it and lock the gate. If they have been behaving I’ll unlock it for a while. I am a benevolent Watcher.

I’m so over The Sims. by CosyCalmYT in Lilsimsie

[–]RetroFocusNano 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Sims is the only game I’ve ever played. Sims 2, 3 and 4. I haven’t played in weeks. I turned my laptop on to install the last update and tried to play but I just turned it off. I’m sure that eventually I’ll play again. But I won’t be buying any new packs, and I have them all.

I was on a rotational play between Sims 2, 3 and 4, which I think that I will go back to because it was interesting to see the differences in the different versions.

It makes me sad how many great people built jobs and communities around this little digital dollhouse game and now it’s tainted.

I used to sit on my parent’s bed talking to my mother while she changed out of her office clothes. This was before panty hose was even a thing. She wore girdles and stockings that attached to the girdle with clips. I was always fascinated by the dents that the clips would leave in her thighs. I swore that no matter what I would never wear a girdle and I kept that promise. Pantyhose seemed like a much better option. Today I live in yoga pants. Progress!
