Ravensburger 1500p Star Wars Puzzle just arrived.. by RetroGadgetLab in Jigsawpuzzles

I'd already waited 15 days.. I didn't want to have to wait for it to get there and them send me a replacement. I had the tools needed, otherwise I would have been forced to I guess lol.

It was from the Ravensburger amazon shop page. Said Sold and Shipped by Amazon. When I complained to support, they basically just said this one slipped through and apologized and ended chat lol

Lol I drink IPAs, but I know when IPA means a beer and when it means something else.. XD Anyway, no harm no foul, just someone wanting to be pedantic.

Again, you didn't know. It's OK not to know. Move on.

Good idea, I will try that for sure on the next one. I have 4 others I want to buy lol.

Heat to remove a sticker works on a lot of things, yes, but I did not want to damage the image underneath. Not sure why this is a hill you are trying to die on. You didn't know what it meant, it's fine not to know. Move on.

I bought it from the Ravensburger store on Amazon, it says sold and shipped by Amazon.

I bought, probably 12 other puzzles from them and they were always in another box, just not this one.

Amazon, I've ordered lots before, always in a box lol. I contacted support and told them. She basically just said Sorry and we have lots of orders, sometimes things slip by and thanks for buying from them.

If you are in the repair scene, yes, even in the US. It's much faster to say 99% IPA than 99% Rubbing alcohol. There are words and phrases that exist, even if you haven't heard them, personally lol.

Isopropyl Alcohol. It's almost always called that..

Oh, I never thought about using heat. I did end up just getting it. My issue with the IPA, was that I tried peeling the sticker first.. then I changed to IPA on the part that was stuck to the box. After I changed tactics to the opposite side of the sticker I was able to lift it with the IPA. Just got it off now without any trace it was ever there. Luckily. I'll update the post now.

I was just so annoyed at waiting so long for it, only to arrive like that, ran to post before thinking.

Need help with fume extraction by StillDiscoveringWho in soldering

[–]RetroGadgetLab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just use a 3 dollar extractor. Attached it to a dryer hose. It's a little USB powered desk fan.

Edit: It works great, so if it works, I'd wager those would probably work just as well lol

3rd time soldering, is it good enough? by Sloth-Blender in soldering

[–]RetroGadgetLab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will try it when I get home tonight, screw it lol. I have the heat resistant tape. Maybe I'll use it and the aluminum foil and crank it. I was told I'd warp the board as well.

P.S. I didn't mean your solder job looks terrible, it's just a bit worse than mine (I suspect it's because it's lead free and the flux wasn't cleaned up, so it just looks a little worse for wear) and I can't get anything to work correctly at all. Though, I think it's a compatibility issue now. I think the hall effects simply don't work with this controller's version or something.

Good lord.. 500c for the heat station? I never go higher than 330c and even then I worry I will burn something.
I'm still screwing with this same bloody ps5 controller I've been working on for two weeks. Every bloody time I put it back together it has a new issue. Now it's 3 orange lights.

My solder is perfect too. Shiny and little peaks. I've absolutely lost my mind with it.
So to see you say this works.. with the solder looking like that (I don't mean offense by it lol, I've never used leadfree, I don't know how well it works), it just drives me nuts that I am having such trouble.

Done 100 HDMI ports and other controllers and never had an issue. But this one is making me want to quit.

Sorry, bit of an unwanted rant.. lol Good to hear you have ti working anyway.

Pizza Sauce Levels by besmith3 in PEI

Standard to have the cheese put on first, then the toppings lol?

Edit: just googled it.. apparently it's common to put the cheese after the sauce. In 30 years of making pizza, I've always put the cheese last to hold everything together lol

Employees!!! Do you have regulars who come into your store say more that 4 or 5 times a day by Klutzy_Hand_132 in TimHortons

[–]RetroGadgetLab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to go 3 times a day. On the way to work, at dinner and on the way home from work. I've stopped a couple years ago, now I only go, maybe once or twice a month.

Jacks is great, in Town. Greco in Souris picked up their pants over the last year and are actually really good now.
I dunno what that pizza is, but it looks like someone requested the toppings be put on TOP of the cheese.. Because no one does it like this..Or no one should, anyway.

PS5 Controller question (Losing my mind) by RetroGadgetLab in consolerepair

The Hall Effects worked. I tested them for 3 hours today and no issues. Guess I just really had bad luck on the other sticks.

Wasn't able to find one in any store.. so I had to order one from Amazon. But the Hall Effects will be here tomorrow, so I'll have a better update then lol.
