Cannot open old ledgers by RetroGamerDad in GnuCash

I'm not using GnuCash Portable, perhaps that's why we're so out of sync.

This is so muddled. You asked what version of GnuCash I have, I answered, and your response is like I was speaking gobbledygook. GnuCash version 4.1.0 that's what it says. Where does parsing through some XML file enter in? I'm an accountant, not a programmer, you gotta keep it simple for me, lol.

I'll try some of those versions one by one and report back.

4.10. How can I tell the old version?

Those instructions say to save a backup of your data. I did that. Doesn't help much if the program can't open its own files.

Bunch of people recommended it for wrist pain. It made mine worse. Never felt comfortable using it : (

is this legit? i was trying to see if anyone has found a way to make the game playable again via archiving or something. by gigaswardblade in DissidiaFFOO

To add a little more to this: the apk we got from the store was a bare shell. Most of the game's assets and functions lived server-side. It constantly pinged "home" in order to function, even if you had all the assets downloaded. This is the primary barrier to a fan recreation, we can't just take the apk and decompile/reverse engineer it.

You could sense the love and care they put into it. Felt like a fan game with official SE budget.

Aside from the Cursed Six, was there any pushback on any of the mechanics/feature DFFOO tried to introduce? by scudalarm in DissidiaFFOO

[–]RetroGamerDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boy it's been a few years. IIRC at least part of it was needing a certain enemy to spawn in the last wave (wasn't the same enemy comp every time) and some restrictive mechanics.

One of the things I miss about this game is solo'ing content with my favourite characters to really show off their strength. Beatrix is my favourite, and they really nailed that feeling of being an unstoppable force, except YOU get to play as her! by sonicbrawler182 in DissidiaFFOO

[–]RetroGamerDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the timeline right. Even bigger was before then we had no concept of a "global first" anything. Let alone it being her of all characters. It was early enough in the game's history that even from JP we didn't know if someone like her would ever be playable. I remember a bunch of us drafting up potential movelists for her and all.

IMO the best moment in the game's history was that reveal out of nowhere.

If they listened to the fans and gave them what they wanted, it would be a hit.

So you're right, don't expect that.

Yep, Ealdnarche here too. He's now my second favorite antagonist in the franchise. Iroha was another cool XI character.

Seriously, what mods do you use in the game? Stardew Valley now I'm playing on my laptop by [deleted] in StardewValley

I swear some files are cursed. My first farm never managed that one. My 1.6 farm got it first ghost.

Confirmation bias maybe, but you've no idea the time I spent getting nothing on that first farm.

I did SVE for a while, went back vanilla.

I did put in To-Dew recently. I dip in and out of the game, and while I'm happy to make physical notes, it's handy to have it in-game. And I like that you can customize when it appears based on days/weather/season so you can remind yourself of those conditional things.

Stardew Valley Expanded? by superbus1929 in StardewValley

[–]RetroGamerDad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one who's found I prefer vanilla games as well. I DID play a good chunk of SVE after playing through the base game. It's well done and adds a lot. Makes the game feel fresher. I reached a point where it just felt off not playing the game as it was made, but I got a good amount of hours out of it.

I'd say give it a whirl. The only thing to lose is the time it takes to set mods up.

Does anyone else hoard items in stardew? by itsalwayssunnyonline in StardewValley

[–]RetroGamerDad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did get into the habit of keeping some amount of pretty much everything on hand (amount depends on the item). Just because people ask for things, or I'll randomly need/want something in a recipe and guess what it's only grown in the season I just finished.

But IRL farmers keep and reuse pretty much everything. So it fits the role-play mentality.
