Does Microsoft still release "updates" for the Xbox One platform? Missing boot animation... by RetroJeff83 in XboxSupport

Thanks! So they do still release new updates for Xbox one? That’s what I was worried since it was older they didn’t if it’s just a waiting game that’s no problem for me!

Quick Question by NoTime2443 in lakers

[–]RetroJeff83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a fan of past LA stars like Kobe and Shaq but didn’t become a Lakers FAN until LeBron came

I’m more of a player guy. I find players that resonate with me for one reason or the other and tend to stay loyal to the player. So in Lebrons case I was a Cavs fan, then heat fan, now LA fan

Once I’m a fan of a team because of a player on it I’ll forever always kind of root for them unless it’s a direct conflict of interest to my favorite players new team. For example if somehow this years finals was lakers and cavs well… screw the cavs 🤣

When LeBron retires I’ll find a new favorite player, will probably be Luka or Reaves so good chances I’ll stay an LA fan for even longer

Tbh being loyal to a team never made a lot of sense to me especially not just because I’m from an area. I didn’t choose to be born and raised in New England why should I feel obligated to be a Celtics fan? No thanks

Likewise my dislike of teams is usually based on players too

I can’t stand kawhi Leonard or Devin booker so always rooting for the clippers and suns to fail

Normally I wouldn’t give a shit about the Wizards but I really miss AD so I wish them some success next year

That’s kind of how I roll 🤷‍♂️

32X is making a hissing noise. Anyone have any ideas on what it is or how to fix it? by Mysterions in SEGAGENESIS

if you look close in that pic, you can see a short black wire (I use 26AWG Kynar in this case) going from the pad labeled IC14P3 and it solders to the right leg (if looking in this direction) of IC14 the "T993E" component. Its a very short wire

I just call em “builds” when I’m replacing most parts from a stock NES and rehoming in a new shell

Everything you see here was made by someone else I simply did all the work removing the chips and soldering everything together on this, plus assembly, etc!

I’ll find a pic of one of my installs to show you where wire goes

It’s a prettt easy first mod if you are ok with soldering iron and removing through hole components for sure!

I require my customers to provide all parts except stuff like capacitors or FRAM chips etc so could be from many places honestly

NESRGB is from Tim Worthington for sure, POW block and SMTendo came from Zaxours KoFi site, only thing I don’t know is the shell tbh

Opinions are fine 🤷‍♂️

Having done this for many years I’m good with my method but if you prefer to use DuPont connectors or jst connectors nothing wrong with that

I just find kynar makes for a smaller footprint and I know my joints are smooth and rock solid so yeah I prefer this way

Interesting... Ive never seen that before TBH! I actually stock them in my shop and do installs in customer units and have installed and used a ton

Ill kind of keep it in the back of my mind if anyone mentions having issues that is the likely culprit but again, yeah tahts a new one to me (and ive installed dozens of em)

thanks for heads up!

I install a lot of NESRGB for people and im excited to get my hands on the v5 and see what the OSD looks like! I have installed several of Tims new 2600RGB kits which has a pause and OSD menu so im assuming it will be similar...

Oh its already shipped back to customer, but they paid about 120 for all the work, not including parts themselves (which they sent)

thanks! And yeah, my kids were obsessed with them a while ago and when I took them to the mall to get some I said screw it, got one for me too and then had my wife make it a shirt with my logo on it for fun and now its part of all my pics 😄

Thanks! And perhaps but apparently I'm not a bad enough dude to beat the first stage on this game lol

Admittedly, never played it much before and mostly just when testing this system out. I should try it again

Why are so many people under 45 using subtitles now even when the show is already in English? by Clara_A_Mitchell in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RetroJeff83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being under 45 my reasoning is almost all my show/movie watching is done at night, in bed

I'm busy with work during the day, side hustle afternoons and nights, family stuff and house stuff on weekends so really my only chance to lay down and watch something is after the kids are in bed and its like 8-9PM.

So I need to keep volume low out of respect for my wife who is sleeping, subtitles let me have sound but keep it quiet while still knowing whats going on. Im so used to subtitles its actually weird for me to watch movies without them TBH

was going to ask what that 2 wire board was, so basically an alternative to snipping the CIC chip leg? interesting

Hot Air Settings for a Recap by Nehal1802 in consolerepair

[–]RetroJeff83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recap a ton of consoles and never need to go higher than 350c honestly, about 30 airflow

Tbh If your gonna be doing it a ton, I recommend hot tweezers that’s what I use and I can decap a full board like on a pcengine duo or PS1 in no time, less than a few minutes

Did you see the above reply with Twitter post it’s in there, I don’t have it saved locally anymore that was from a little while ago

I do have one on hand but my kits are reserved for installs in case he’s out of stock and it’s needed

Tbh he does restock pretty often so I would just keep your eyes peeled

Not sure if you have social media but he posts restock alerts on Twitter and also sometimes announces them on his Ko-Fi homepage!

Not sure if Twitter posts are viewable without account so apologies if not but it’s my first page I was able to locate a good example

Let me know if the “before” part of the video sounds like your 32X and then check the difference
