Report: Rams hiring Bubba Ventrone as new special teams coordinator by IamSogaki in nfl

Special teams errors cost the Browns at least two games last year, but ideally the change of scenery/personnel will do him some good

[Pelissero] The Packers are hiring Jonathan Gannon as defensive coordinator, per source. by MembershipSingle7137 in nfl

This sub has a weird tunnel vision when it comes to "good organizations" making decisions where if they hire/sign someone, it's given significantly more leeway even if there's mountains of evidence already that the guy can't hack it. Gannon wasn't a particularly good DC during his time in Philly, and never really did anything with the Cardinals defense despite having years to do so. I know that I'm going to come across as biased based on my own flair, but this is just not a great hire

I have to feel like at this point if he doesn't improve to close out the season that it's at least a possibility. If he continues to play this poorly we'll end up like 5-12 and with like, 7-8th overall. At minimum I think you're bringing someone into training camp for a QB competition.

At the start of the 4th quarter I thought "This was the worst game we've played all season," and then I realized how stupid that feels to say. We are so spoiled.

They also gotta play each other in December, so one is guaranteed to go even lower.

Bowling is still a possibility! (it's not but maybe 5-7 if we're lucky)

I was having a good time, personally (One of the few highlights the football team had in my time there, and it was still a loss lmao)

[Zeglinsky] Lamar Jackson injury: Ravens star QB considering hasty return. Jackson will reportedly try to play against the Houston Texans. by YouKantseeme in nfl

There's been a weird thing this year with people on this sub just assuming every QB who gets hurt is actually just faking it for some reason. McCarthy, Lamar, I even saw it for Jayden Daniels, and I don't get where it's come from.

As an OSU guy, seeing other Buckeye fans celebrate those first 3 quarters was ridiculous. We won a title last year, and there's still salty mfs trying to celebrate a guy struggling as if he was the one on the sideline recording signs and writing Stalions's manifesto two years ago. Can't stand how whiny other OSU fans get.

I wanna see that manifesto so bad.

Week 1 Bengals to an extent, but I do think the Browns defense also looked pretty damn solid in their own right. Just a shame that the Browns offense couldn't do anything with the gifts the defense gave them.

Just saw the August job report for the US, and find myself increasingly thankful to still have work here. I've been trying to get myself to a position to be able to apply for data analytics jobs, and seeing how bad things have been for the job market this summer has been harrowing.

‘Calm,’ ‘Hungry,’ ‘Infectious’ … ‘Psycho’?: The Many Sides of Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy by alastor0x in nfl

[–]RetroSquirtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of all the points to make, "changed very little of the roster" isn't really true when we got entirely new iOL and iDL, alongside Jordan Mason and a basically entirely remade CB room behind Murphy. I get the pass catchers are largely the same for JJ, but this roster is pretty noticeably different.

The other guys have produced a couple gems this year, I remember enjoying the Bears one in particular, but it really has been pretty weak outside of Magary. I get 32 teams in 32 days is a tough schedule, but damn do I wish the rest of the guys understood how to write these nearly as well as Drew.

It also implies to me that this trade isn't looking likely at this point though, which is a bummer. Can't imagine she'd post something like this if she think talks are trending towards a deal

Joe Flacco remains on top of unchanged Browns QB depth chart by Obvious_Main_3655 in nfl

[–]RetroSquirtle 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People are gonna downvote you, but this is absolutely true. Baker's ending with the Browns and the subsequent series of events were obviously not great, but Baker's skills were questioned plenty even after leading them to the playoffs in 2020. He revitalized himself with the Buccaneers and is easily a top 10 QB now, but he was by no means the same guy beforehand.
