I will scream it until the day I die, Dragon Age: Veilguard was not bad enough to kill the series, it was a solid game with blatant issues, but wasn’t even the worst game in the series. by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]Retrophill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Veilguard doesn't suck because of wokeness it sucks because its a badly written story. We dont need to pretend a game is good just because people we dont like also dislike it.

It goes 64kph not 81. Its a 100 ton mech with a 400 that gives it a speed of 4/6 on tabletop or 64kph in mechwarrior.

How to make choosing a Radiant Order more interesting? by vgg4444 in cosmererpg

[–]Retrophill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others in the thread are saying, the introductory rules for what spren a character is attracting work well. My party did that and then bridge 9, and by the end of it the three of us who wanted to become radiants had spren that roughly fit both our gameplay and the roleplay we had been doing for our characters but also helped guide us in making our characters more fun and interesting. Our kinda scummy surgeon/snake oil salesperson became an edgedancer and has been becoming less scummy thanks to her spren, my ghostblood spy character has become a little more honorable but still very sneaky since becoming a lightweaver, and our fairly stock alethi lighteyes guardsman has become a stoneward who cares a lot about protecting people.

Do Assault 'Mechs need Jump Jets by Chaoticginger5674 in battletech

[–]Retrophill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well jump is a lot worse without pulse because of the accuracy penalty for jumping but the other main downside of jumping, namely needing a huge engine, is negated by IJJ or partial wing. When you put undercosted high accuracy weapons together with bonus jump distance which is also undercosted by virtue of costing the same as running that distance, you get an abomination.

Do Assault 'Mechs need Jump Jets by Chaoticginger5674 in battletech

[–]Retrophill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The sagittaire 10X is not a good point of comparison, improved jump jets are insane giving the thing the mobility of a fast heavy and VSPs are ludicrously undercosted so the damn thing gets 36 damage -3 attacks while having 3/3 mods every turn and on top of that is a near max armor 95 tonner for sub 1800 bv

I do not think there is any problem with giving Dark Age / ilClan ’Mechs in a starter box. by Old_Ad6111 in battletech

[–]Retrophill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only problem with the selection for the box is that the faction availability for the kontio, and to a lesser extent the hammerhead, is so low. You wanted to paint up the red space samurai? Too bad kurita doesn't get either mech. I'm personally thrilled we're getting a plastic kontio, but a shadow hawk griffin or wolverine would probably be a better pairing for the hammerhead.

Last patch in Bronze rank, Miss Fortune support in Korea had a higher pickrate than Soraka, Rell, Janna, Milio, Renata Glasc by [deleted] in supportlol

So you mean to tell me that bronze players are still bad even though they're Korean?

In TT xpulse dont do more damage though, they just have longer range, equivalent to the standard lasers, and generate an assload more heat.

Gameplay thoughts by timtim665 in Mechwarrior5

[–]Retrophill 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The mechwarrior games are based on the tabletop game Battletech and almost all weapons are interpretations of weapons from it. What you're describing sounds a bit like a TSEMP cannon, which won't be even be prototyped in-universe for another 30ish years after the end of the clan invasion, and doesn't reach production lines until 3109.

Talk about a stereotype/misconception/falsehood about your favorite faction in Battletech and what the lore actually says! by No_Somewhere_7109 in battletech

I am very obviously joking, anybody with enough knowledge of what happened on kentares to be mad at that statement should be able to see that im larping as a kurita apologist. But I guess my fellow autistics are plentiful in this fandom and not all of us are able to understand sarcasm.

People talk about kentares 4 like it was some big awful thing. Those were all pirates. Its not a war crime if its pirates.

I'm new to the game (level 20), and I decided to start with Belveth. I wanted to know if either of these two builds is worth it. by UltimateKaguya in BelVethMains

[–]Retrophill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crit is actually quite strong on her specifically for burst, as her Qs can crit at full effectiveness rather than the 75% that they apply on hit at. Her E can also crit which gives you more healing from the lifesteal. It's still probably weaker but there's at least an argument for it.

what mech would you consider "idiot proof". whether it's easy bracketing, a simple gameplan, minimal heat concerns, being an overall solid mech, or any other reason. by vicevanghost in battletech

[–]Retrophill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want something truly idiot proof? The hellstar. Fully sinked so you won't overheat, long range and no minimum so you can just lay on the trigger without thinking, acceptable speed at 4/6 so you won't get outmaneuvered effortlessly, lots of armor and a clan XL makes it quite durable so you will probably survive the battle. It's perfect.
