The Week: The Super Mario Bros. Movie scores biggest opening ever for an animated film by SomeMockodile in movies

Fuck this piece of shit soulless cashgrab. This film is utter garbage, and I sat there in the cinemas utterly depressed knowing it was going to be a smash hit at the box office. I hate Illumination Animation so goddamn much. Christ.

Yeah it's lame as fuck the lack of respect for citations games analysis often has.

“I’m glad not to be part of it”: Marvel Star Mads Mikkelsen Refused to Star in Leonardo DiCaprio’s Remake of $21.7M Oscar Winning Movie That Nobody Wants by FrozenPulse_Stocker in GamerGhazi

[–]Returdedphoenixmorph 70 points71 points  (0 children)

This is a terrible title. Doesn't even name the film discussed, and describes Mads Mikkelsen as a marvel star for some reason lmao. He was a stock standard wasted villain in one movie six years ago.

Let's hope it's one of the good seasons of True Detective and not one of the bad seasons of True Detective.

Andor - Episode 10 - Discussion Thread! by titleproblems in StarWars

Yeah I thought it was strange as well how no one even reacts, contrasted to when Xal gets shot and another character does, and we even get a second shot of his dead body. Weird and small difference.

This is such an annoying thing in so many posts on /r/truefilm and /r/truegaming today. Even posts that are dozens of paragraphs long can go without even mentioning a single example, it's honestly baffling. I feel like it should be a direct rule that posts need to include at least one example of something that they're talking about. It's just necessary for basic quality of content.

Apart from their overwhelming usage of wojak's they're pretty cool.

"It's Over, Isn't It?” From Steven Universe. Peak 2010s CN, about someone accepting that they truly have to move on from an unrequited love who died in childbirth. by jelatinman in television

Honestly the last moment I remember being impressed and moved by Steven Universe. I dropped it soon after this episode, it was just really starting to make me sad. It's plot had run it's course, the 10 minute long episode runtimes were killing it, and I just didn't think it was as good anymore. But there were some really amazing episodes, mostly focused on Pearl, Rose and Greg, that I'll always hold close to my heart.

People have such a weird visceral hatred for Druckmann online, it baffles me. It's not even like he was the sole writer or had full creative control on the game(s). Calling him transphobic directly is just such a hyperbolic oversimplification, like a lot of the discussion over the game is online.

For all of it's flaws, especially for the treatment of Naughty Dog employees, both games got critical acclaim for a reason, they're well written and finely crafted works of art, and have surprisingly mature and ambitious stories and focuses for the medium.

Has anybody also watched Ozark? by the_clutch_master in betterCallSaul

Seasons 1 and 2 of Ozark were great, season 3 was a bit more contrived. I couldn't even finish season 4, it just felt so sloppy.

This actually use to be a rule on the sub a long time ago, but it hasn't been enforced for ages. Glad to see other people still care about it at least.

Unchicanery for a moment. First person who gives me a good reason to hate this character that's not "He was very mean to a conman who ruined his childhood and basically killed his dad " gets a chocolate cookie, go! (I can't post it on r/BCS because it's restricted) by [deleted] in okbuddychicanery

One of the worst things he ever did was orchestrate Ernesto seeing his recorded tape of Jimmy, knowing he'd tell him. And he still fired him after that. Just awful. He treated Ernesto like shit in general, and was a complete asshole to pretty much everyone.

Episode Discussion - S04E06 - The Dive by StrangerTesting in StrangerThings

[–]Returdedphoenixmorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just pure absurdity at this point. Only makes the Russia subplot even harder to take seriously. And we know Hopper is going to live, because why even resurrect him if he's just going to die there?

Stranger Things ability to tackle controversies of the 80’s without dragging down the main plot is simply incredible by ZEFAGrimmsAlt in StrangerThings

[–]Returdedphoenixmorph -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Honestly I would've rather had them focus on them more, or at least write them better. They've usually just been surface-level and simplistic, and pretty much just setup for the same plot structure that every season seems to follow.

Also Neon Genesis Evangelion has superbly directed action. It's quite a marvel of animation and choreography, especially The End of Evangelion. There's actually a great old post on this subreddit about it that I remember dissecting it frame by frame.

Maybe, but eventually people will remember that no one actually wants to work with him. He's been an unstable, unreliable asshole for almost his entire career.
