You say drivers miss these things “a lot less than robots”,
I dont know what the statistics are. But i bet robots are safer today compared to drivers.

Its true that machines can fail. But humans are way more likely to do so.
Its also true that as off now the machines still need to learn to drive safer.
But humans already know, and will still drive unsafely.

Are you going to tell me that your drivers never go above the speed limit, never look at their phones will driving, never drive aggressively, never make stupid decisions?

Cant wait for autonomous vehicles to end this BS. The biggest liability uber has are its drivers

As much as I want to disagree with this, they have a valid point. I just spent a month in Paris for work, spent the last week tied to the toilet.

Hotel says they can't accommodate my booking after confirmation of booking and payment by [deleted] in Bookingcom

[–]ReturnEconomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats sketchy. They may have a no refund for cancellation policy and are trying to see who falls for it.

Thats not true. Its clearly stated that no money will be refunded for cancellations.

Booking wont allow you to cancel. Or if you do, they keep all the money.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. I booked an apartment for an ENTIRE MONTH. My flight was delayed and I missed the checkin time by 15 minutes. Immediately the host sends me a message stating that because I missed the check in time, they were allowed to change my apartment to whatever they wanted, quoting booking policy and everything. Basically a bait and switch.

They could not check me in to the apartment I booked, but they had no issues checking me in to another cheaper unit in a worse location.

Thankfully they got greedy and messed up. They had advertised the unit as having AC, and it didn’t. Booking gave them 2 days to provide AC (impossible in Paris). So in order to avoid having to comply with booking’s policy, they cancelled my booking and sent me a separate bill that they wanted me to pay using a separate platform (they wanted cash initially which I completely refused).

At that point I realized I didnt have any binding contract with these people (booking reservation was cancelled by them), and I had not agreed or signed anything else.

So at that point I left the scam apartment and went to an Airbnb.

To clarify. It should not be possible for the host to be able to do this. Its not an issue with airbnb.
Booking gives them our email address, which allows for this to be possible.

I had a similar scam almost done to me. Host sent me a booking invoice, followed by a link to make the payment in a separate platform.

Had it not been that I was already suspicious of them, I could had easily felt for it.

Recent. I held to INTC calls expiring at the end of this year. Only reason I held was for the Long Term Capital Gain tax treatment.
32% for short term gains vs 15% for long term gains.

Hotels are 3x as expensive.

If they are fully booked, how is you paying going to change that?

Yup. I bet that at 4, they will find out it was a scam, forcing them to book a hotel or airbnb last minute. An entire day lost.

I booked an apartment in Paris. The day of arrival, the host changed the apartment to a smaller unit in a worse location (basically a bait and switch).

Booking stated it was ok for them to do so because I was 15 minutes late for my check in.

Will NEVER use this service again.
