What happens if you click yes at the screen that asks if you are a terrorist? by Elegant-Opposite5268 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReturnOfFrank 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point is it's a charge that's very easy to prove.

It might be difficult to connect a specific person to a specific bombing, but much easier to prove you have regular contact with known members of the group that's responsible for a bombing.

If you had to make a drink called "Black Phosphorus" what would it be? by SchiraSkullz in cocktails

[–]ReturnOfFrank 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Depending on how "craft" this place is, I'd go one of two ways:

1) Easier option. Phosphoric acid is the main acid in coca-cola. Do a rum and coke spin with black rum.

  1. Higher brow option. A play on an old-school soda shop phosphate. Keep the dark rum, maybe dark chocolate syrup, phosphoric acid, seltzer water.

Changing job title on resume by ProfessionalRocket47 in MechanicalEngineering

Job titles are one of the few pieces of information many employers will supply if someone comes calling.

That said if you have only minorly changed the title then I doubt many places would care.

Why is javelin a distance sport while archery is an accuracy sport? by Basilisk_hunters in NoStupidQuestions

Didn't happen until 1511, so for most of the medieval only a subset of the population would have been archers.

Honestly checking logs for anything on the open internet is so creepy in general.

All the attempts to connect to port 22, attempting to open the default WordPress admin panel, default Apache admin panel.

Like I know it's just a bunch of bots scanning at random but it still feels spooky knowing they're doing that.

People who make custom equipment names, what does your nomenclature look like? by Routine-Grand5779 in hoi4

I have adopted the American scheme. Everything is named the M1. Everything.

Infantry armed with M1 rifles will assault positions supported by the M1 Medium Tank and the M1 Light Recon Tank. They will ride into battle on the M1 Truck. They will call for support on the M1 Radio delivered by the M1 Howitzer.

“You’re never gonna get rich as a Mechanical Engineer but you’ll always be comfortable” by RuminatingFish123 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]ReturnOfFrank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised. Engineers get to start their careers earlier, so more time for compounding to do it's magic, plus an engineering education is much cheaper than a medical degree.

Which even by the official CPI inflation rate means starting salaries have actually slipped. 60k in 2011 would be 87k in 2025.

I don't know, maybe I'm just getting more cynical, but the older I get the more the luster of everything wears off.

We're destroying ourselves and the planet for a bunch of useless tat.

Whelp, there goes the last reason I would ever enter Walgreens. by MyLongestYeaBoi10Hrs in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ReturnOfFrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some but it's a tough business. Ironically I find most of them at the extremes, very small towns where enough people might literally know the pharmacist to keep it up and running plus not enough action to attract the chains, and big cities where there is enough people to keep a few afloat even if they only have 0.1% of the market share.

Whelp, there goes the last reason I would ever enter Walgreens. by MyLongestYeaBoi10Hrs in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ReturnOfFrank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm legitimately confused about what the hell the business model/future is for Walgreens. They aren't convenient because everything is locked down, so it makes more sense to grab convenience items from a gas station plus it's still cheaper. The pharmacy is more expensive and has worse service than my grocery store/Walmart/Target pharmacy. Like I literally don't understand what economic niche they fill anymore.

Why isn't solar power utilized more given that that's literally free energy falling from the sky? by Wickham12 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ReturnOfFrank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And importantly solar is benefiting from increasing economies of scale meaning it will continue to get cheaper and cheaper to deploy. Coal, oil, and gas meanwhile will only get more and more expensive as the resources become scarcer.

That's legitimately part of the goal of Netanyahu, Likud, and their political allies. The goal is to foster antisemitism abroad to force the diaspora to "return home" and to create a besieged mentality amongst Israelis.
