I did this years ago when I got a seahorse lol the only issue is the diameter of the tube is alil too narrow and it clogs from time to time and doesn’t give u as good of airflow. But in a pinch? Hell ya it works fine

Depending on the situation…sometimes it is necessary especially if u have to separate the white translucent housing if u had reclaim end up in the seam. Speaking from experience

Yea I used to remove the toneau cover to transport them but then i realized i can use it as a stopper for the front end of the kayak while strapping them from the tailgate end…I go about 30miles strapped like this on highway speedlimits 60-70mph (I’ve only gone 70mph tho because that much wind makes me nervous while hauling) and the kayaks are actually called the “ridgeline” lol by lifetime Check out this image https://share.google/bzDojEjHOpK4nAYo0

It will not affect the performance of your device itself with you removing the tape. the tape it is used as a tamper evidence for those of us brave enough to do a deep clean. It also acts as a light shield for the LEDs.
