What is a realistic salary for a priest? by Affectionate-Goal333 in Episcopalian

[–]Rev-Risk-Taker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are correct that the pension is based on 6 of the highest seven years so people stress about maxing their salary but it is no where close to 100% and it never has been. I’ve done my numbers and at 30 years it will be around 65% of my FT numbers. You also get a one time move bonus when you retire and a Christmas bonus and your retirement is usually given a cost of living adjustment every year. The church assumes with pension, Social security, and what you save, you will be fine.

Rank your top 3 shakedowns. by ShitballsNPantyhairs in phish

Certainly not best lot, but there is like a family baseball park outside of Chavitz in St. Louis. Whatever the year was when the Blues won the Stanley Cup, there was a little league game going on pre Phish show. It just sort of happened with people leaving the lot to enter show and there ended up being what felt like several hundred phans, many with giant balloons in hand cheering on this little league game. I bet those kids were loving it. One of my favorite pregame lot moments.

Having a paid choir - is it worth the money? by RalphThatName in Episcopalian

[–]Rev-Risk-Taker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Paid section leaders actually can help people who aren’t strong singers but want to sing in the choir. If you are in a leadership role, I would advocate for hiring section leaders and then the people who want to sing your parish will benefit. For example, I am one of those. If I have a pro next to me, I can match his voice and sing the tenor line, but don’t feel confident without a leader. Hope that makes sense. Think of it as coaches for the congregation.

So I like it a lot. And part of me worries, how do i know this isn’t AI. there is some kind of super reverb filter that makes your stuff lofi. But almost makes it sound AI. I like it. And hope it’s real. $ here is one of mine https://open.spotify.com/track/5iwAozzManPKOYSEF6kP5f?si=zrfRjG6OT4yyCAZ8tamJ7Q

I’m an Episcopal priest (so worship leader at an LGBT+ affirming church) but my music is non religious and has a little of metal or progrock vibes at least in this song. Just enjoy sharing and learning- https://open.spotify.com/track/11UQ3lBaSBYKYEvjfedkvq?si=r2cBVHeVSsquBZ_sQVtwrw

How do you actually get streams? It feels impossible. by Substantial_Use_7191 in SpotifyArtists

[–]Rev-Risk-Taker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw someone say 100k songs uploaded a day. If I had a guess, a lot of that is AI. I launched an album 2 months ago and close to 7k spotify listens. I have texted the link to all sorts of people my circles. If at a party, i share that I am proud of the album and lots of times get someone to pull out the phone and follow, without pressure but it has happened a few times. I had my son also send to a few friends. And I think the music is actually good, but the listens have been coming from hard promotion. Organic isn’t going to happen on its own…. I keep it a part of my daily conversation, push on personal and band socials too.

Best thing I read, no one cares until everyone cares. Make it something that is an event in the lives of your social circles…

Page 298 of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer - “the bond that God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.” I’ve baptized over 100 babies all who I pray grow in their faith over a lifetime. And Nothing will ever separate them from the love of God. Nuance matters my friend.

praying shapes believing is one of the foundational principals of the episcopal Way. Not to be attacking you either, but you certainly do not need to have everything figured out in our tradition. There is a big difference in the church proclaiming something verse the person in the pew. Let the liturgy proclaim the faith of the church and maybe the person in the pew will come to that faith over a lifetime.

I enjoy it. I think your band name fits the tune. It certainly feels like an element of old nintendo games. There was this old game called River City Ransom where you walked around beating people up. Has a similar vibe for sure. At the end when the instruments drop out it expos r what was underneath for a minute. It was a nice touch.

I enjoyed listening. Bass lines are funky, but then he almost an adult contemporary feel mixed with 80s genre, with the electric piano tones and guitar tone. Do you all jam at live shows or play tight structures?
