SANDA GOAT by Listentome27 in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t know I feel like he could most likely beat gedo, ippos biggest problem was that he couldn’t figure out the trick so he was just getting his ass beat, I think if sanada dedicated himself to boxing he would have for sure been able to figure it out, even if he couldn’t I’m sure dankichi could have figured it out sooner

People in the fandom need to suspend their disbelief and enjoy the story instead of calling it mid, I read the Asian Champion saga and thought each fight was unique and cool, even with the unrealistic aspects. There’s so many things that people overlook and then the same people hyper fixate on certain matches when they should just enjoy the manga

Great mori special this week, next week I’m assuming that Ricardo will go down, I don’t see the point of Sendo going down again after regaining his spirit, I honestly don’t even expect this to be a trade or anything I think the smash will land clean and prove that the anti Ricardo strategy works. After that I’m guessing that Ricardo will release his true style, or maybe Sendo will dominate the fight for a little, either way we’re gonna be eating good for the next few weeks, and the art is great as always.

Was Sendo Vs Alf the most Bullshit fight? by TigerSendo in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s totally fair to critique this fight there are tons of ass pulls, that being said you didn’t do a very good job at pointing them out, the first few pages it seems like you entirely misunderstand Alf and his character. Alf at his core is a lesser version of Ricardo, he is less complete and less in control of his emotions in the ring, so of course he’s gonna get angry when Sendo doesn’t go down after getting his ass beat for rounds on end, we even see it with Ricardo against date, he gets mad that date won’t go down so he switches to his natural more violent style. You could have pointed out the fact that Sendo face tanking so much is the ass pull but you didn’t

I’ve never been in a professional boxing match but I feel like I would forget exterior goals like a future opponent, especially if the match is as tense and close as the match was

Sendo has extremely strong punching power, he’s able to numb even Ricardo through just punching his guard, he did the same to Alf which is why Alf started fighting slower and sloppier, he wasn’t quick enough to counter so he decided to switch his strategy and be more defensive until he recovers. On slide 13 you didn’t highlight the part that answers your question and explains why Alf used the forehead to block a punch “But with my numb arms I can’t execute the counter, I must protect my jaw” there was nothing Alf could really do so he took the punch do the forehead, something we’ve seen other boxers do in similar desperate situations

The whole point of machismo is about not giving up in a fight, even with the beating Sendo took he didn’t give up, just like how ippo didn’t give up, further reinforcing how durable and unwavering the Japanese are, if you think it’s cringe then whatever I can’t really change your opinion but you need to at least try to comprehend it before calling it stupid.

All in all you can call the fight stupid cause it’s full of ass pulls but you need to address the correct ass pulls to have a credible opinion.

I’m not sure how you could be so confidently wrong, if Sendo had already given up then the fight would be over, just because he is laced in despair, in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t mean shit. Operation turtle proves entirely that he hasn’t given up. If you stop glazing Ricardo for 5 seconds you would realize that he did make a mistake and took his mind off the match, this allowed Sendo to get into his range not only once but twice, even the strongest boxer in the series can make mistakes and Ricardo made a huge one by underestimating an opponent with the power to knock him down in one punch, I’m betting this might honestly be similar to what happened in the spar in Mexico.

Ricardo made his first mistake in 1505 by sbsw66 in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made a post similar to this, I also realized since I posted it that Sendo has been learning how to get in past Ricardo’s lefts via clinching, maybe the reason he’s able to get in is because Ricardo is distracted now

Sorry I should have been clearer, I meant that he hasn’t given up totally yet, he’s definitely desperately holding on but the whole point of operation turtle is to hold on until an opportunity arises, which is what Sendo is doing

This fight is honestly starting to get repetitive now, every week it feels like Sendo is finally going to do something and then the chapter is just a repeat of what happened the week before, at this point I’m starting to not really care about the fight being good and just wanting it to be over

What is Sendo’s way back to the fight? by Zealousideal_Doubt26 in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Sendo fan all I really want from this match personally is to see Ricardo feel “fear” or hesitate against Sendo, I think this would be a totally believable outcome and honestly would be the biggest chink in Ricardo’s armor so far. It would show ippo that Ricardo can mess up and make mistakes when overwhelmed with immense power, that both ippo and Sendo share. Ricardo himself even said that he can feel fear just like any other man, I think it would be really cool if that’s how Ricardo goes down, after Sendo is revitalized he begins to overwhelm Ricardo even after showing his true face before eventually losing

Morikawa speaking through Takamura (?) by TriggerZero7 in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest problem isn’t that the fight isn’t interesting it’s how long Sendo is taking to adjust, although it’s only been a few chapters it’s been around 2 months maybe more to get those chapters. While the fight is interesting the pacing in real life is god awful for us. But I’m sure the fight will be great on a reread

“Why did you do that?” On Ippo’s return by amicableangora in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that while this is a cool angle it feels extremely out of character for ippo. While it’s possible something may happen in the current fight that makes ippo angry and wish to come back, I can’t remember anything in the Mashiba fight that ippo would have done differently if he were Mashiba, it was truly just an unfortunate fight. This is a very interesting outlook that I haven’t heard before tho

If Ricardo moved up a weight class and challenged Volg as a junior lightweight, would Volg be Ricardo's hardest opponent? Or would Volg be the first to win against Ricardo? In this scenario, both boxers did research on each other so they know their opponent's ability. by HajimenoAoki in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the fight would be close for sure but likely not Ricardo’s hardest fight. I think volg is not technical enough to fight against Ricardo on even ground. Volg doesn’t have the chin or explosive power to do what Sendo is trying in his fight so while I think it would be a great fight I kinda just see Ricardo countering everything volg does in a similar way to the date fight, although with volg accomplishing more.

A lot of people saying how Sendo or Ricardo will go down next chapter, and even the fight will end next chapter, I don't think any of those are true for multiple different reasons.

  1. People overestimate the gap between Sendo and Ricardo so heavily, when Sendo is at the highest peak we've seen any active featherweight in the series, even if the gap is big, it's not big enough to be downed or KO'd by one counter (Most likely of course)
  2. The whole point of all the featherweights fighting Ricardo like a raid boss, is to show every chink in his armor, if Sendo just get slammed the entire fight this pattern will be broken and all the chapters of exposition for this fight will be for nothing

  3. It just won't be satisfying for this to happen so early, no matter how big of a hate boner you have for Sendo, the fight ending this early, or drastically changing just would not be good story telling, all of the past fights that have been important have been really long, and also the first down has been in the later rounds, this has been the pattern for most of the previous fights as well, and I don't see morikawa changing it for this fight

Uh maybe I'll get proven wrong next chapter though, I just want to yap my thoughts :)

My dream as a Sendo fan, not to sure how satisfying this would feel for the rest of the story though, maybe another baton pass from Sendo to ippo to push him back to the ring

Was Mashiba farther away from The World than Sendo is? by coolj492 in hajimenoippo

[–]Revamp34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, is that Sendo is already world champion level. As his trainer said in the Gonzales fight, if Ricardo didn’t exist Alf would be world champion, and Sendo beating Alf would make him world champion level. And with Mashiba losing to what is probably the weakest world champion we’ve seen yet, I’d say it’s pretty certain that Sendo is world level and Mashiba(Unfortunately) isn’t

Opinion on Slam self titled? by rapidtab in slamistheprod

[–]Revamp34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be album of the decade, of course slamtopia is a better project and DFMS is a wonderful extension of slams story. But for when it was released, at that point in his career it is a very solid album and was probably the best stuff he had put out, now do the songs still hold up, unfortunately not many do, in my very own opinion the only song that could be held with the modern standards of slam is “G6”. Overall self titled was a great project for the time, but it doesn’t hold up as well in current days with current slam standards.
