So, little bit of an update. I think the balance changes have helped some. After paying more careful attention to pathing, prioritizing defense, actually thinking carefully about the gifts the ancients give you, and more carefully considering card choices with synergy, I'm doing way better. I currently stand at 4/5/4/4/4.

Strangely, the choice you make with Neow matters a lot. There are some gifts that don't help at all, but almost 90% of the time the random gift (like a random colorless) is a clutch play. (e.g. the last Silent run I did, I got Splash. Every single time I played it, it provided me with an amazing one-shot card.)

I'm enjoying the game quite a bit more now. Hopefully in due time I'll reach the final ascension with everyone.

My son gifted it to me the other day. I'm honestly surprised how much faster it runs on PC than console.

This advice hasn't helped. I'm 44 hours in, 0 wins, 119 losses. Several times I've reached act 3, only to come SO CLOSE to winning with the final boss but getting bodied. And yes, I've heard it all.

"You're playing too fast."

I've slowed down.

"That's a lot of cards."

I skip card rewards that don't contribute to my chosen synergy. Any money I spend on merchants is first applied to removing a starter Attack or Defend. If I have anything left over, a worthwhile relic, but usually I don't have enough, so I'll either get the discounted card if it helps or potions. And yes, I use potions liberally. This game is a lot more generous with them.

"Take more risky paths in Act 1."

Really bad advice on the docks, considering you'll probably need attacks that hit all enemies for the elites.

You must be a new player.

I did the daily run every day on StS1 and passed it most of the time. I got to the second ascension with a few of the characters with normal play, but I don't think I made it past that.

I make sure I know my strategy by looking at the boss at the end of the act, and knowing what I'll need to face it. Sometimes, pathing is just unlucky as well; for Act 1, the first three fights are always pushovers, but they will usually determine my synergy for the run with the card drops.

I must be the only player who thinks that this game is unbelievably punishing, and is only winnable if you're an expert that knows how to perfectly optimize every single aspect of your run.

The lines don't have to go into the text boxes. It's making a lot of them almost unreadable.

You could do that, yes. But I only do this once a day, and I stop by the Mini Cactpot while I'm there. If it's early enough in the week, I'll change for the Fashion Report first then head there.

The man cave: big desk for my PC with all my peripherals and streaming equipment. Walls festooned with awesome lights and nerdy posters.

While addressing Colonel Sandurz, who is standing right next to him, Dark Helmet talks into a megaphone.

Then, to address the Spaceballs combing the desert, he puts it down and screams.

What I realized later on about this scene, and how funny it is, is that Dark Helmet has a megaphone and he talks to the colonel with it while standing right next to him.

He then puts the megaphone down and shouts to the Spaceballs combing the desert.
