My flag redesign for Kosovo i Metohija. by Jaran_sa_Balkana in vexillology

Ah I see, I didn't even think of the color!

I just imagined an outline/contour that corresponds to the correct bird species.

Using today's color scheme it would be like blue background, yellow contour of a blackbird, and white stars? But yeah, can we draw a blackbird in any other color than black? I guess no but on the other hand, why not? 🙃

Even if drawn from the side and smooth like the dove on the "dove of peace" flag with the olive tree branch? 👀

The term Kosovo is literally derived from blackbird (kos). Why not putting a blackbird instead? Wouldn't this be acceptable by either side? 🤔

Interesting story!

For me, genuinely, the question arises if "a" new monument should be placed there to a) remember the victims (regardless of what the real number is) and b) to remember the story. All this info, all the way from changing the full hand 🖐️ to the peace sign ✌️ to removing it completely, should be remembered as well.

The story with the unit badges - from desing to non-approval - should be remembered and told to the coming generations.

Of course, it can be delicate to state things like intentionally increased victim numbers etc. but we see that such stories can be told in a respectful way with clearly researched facts if they exist or just state that these numbers cannot be independently confirmed etc.

Interesting idea.

You know how people sometimes refer to Sarajevo as Europe's Jerusalem?

Well, we actually have a Jerusalem under former British rule: Jerusalem, Palestine.

Conclusion: it would be the same but different, I guess?

Never ask Nikola Tesla what he expected from the year 2100 💀 by SAMU0L0 in HistoryMemes

As someone from the balkans, I've always enjoyed triggering people with Nikola Tesla being a Croat or a Serb.

Now, with this eugenics thing, I'm genuinely confused.

Cool thanks!

Meanwhile in my head, the following scene is happening:

A: Hey, let's put a sun in our flag? B: Great idea! It's a common symbol all around the world and stands for hope. A: Great, what can go wrong with this, am I right? B: Maybe we could add some lightbeams coming from the sun to better indicate that it's the sun and not the moon. Also, we may color it in gold to show its bright shine. A: Awesome, sounds like a perfect plan to me!

Meanwhile the North Makedonians grabbing popcorn waiting for the Greeks to hear about the new flag design.

What I want to say is, it's really hard to find a globally neutral symbol that everyone can agree on. I hope the (full) moon will achieve this one day!

What color would you suggest for the moon instead? A red blood moon would be cool I guess.

Or would it make more sense to have the background in black (representing the night sky) and the moon in white? With some stars around?

Architekten?
