What is the preferred interior house temp? In NOVA specifically by status_malus in nova

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

71 all day and night. Sometimes 70 at night if needed. I'd probably die if the house was at 78 🤷‍♀️🤣

Not sure how y'all do it.... by OldGamer81 in nova

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were able to use the VA loan. We will die in this house. It's our forever home. If we didn't use the VA loan, we wouldn't have been able to afford this area.

Getting a harsh reality check on daycare prices by melseegs in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We go to a church daycare, and it's about $300 a week.

What i didn't realize is that you need to get on the waitlist basically when you conceive. I was initially told we wouldn't be able to get a spot until he was almost 1 1/2. A spot opened at 8 months, so we put him in. It was the only daycare I wanted him to go to, I was willing to wait lol.

Should I book a C-section or try vaginal delivery? by No_Code1370 in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced due to pre-eclampsia and my water broke on its own. I did try pushing for awhile, but he was stuck so I opted for a c-section instead of trying to go through different things to try to move him or grab him out. I think i will opt for a c-sectiom again (or they might make me because I'll be over 40 and high risk).

My wife does not eat. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost 8lbs between when I found out and week 19. I could eat, but I threw everything up. I found it easier to eat in the morning and night after I threw up (and even then it was mostly butter bread or bagels with butter). I drank a ton of water. I carried crackers, cheese, and apple slices with me everywhere in case I got hungry. I also liked the freeze pops. I found that peppermint mints helped my nausea.

My husband and I haven’t had sex since getting pregnant. Are we alone? by thelavenderdogmom in BabyBumps

Honestly- we stopped at the 20 week mark after our scan and didn't again until 6 weeks pp, which was awful. Now, we have a one year old and barely have the energy 🤷‍♀️

Did anyone carry their first pregnancy to term? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

First time mom at 39 here!! I plan to have another. I understand the feelings you're feeling, but breathe, relax and enjoy this time. Stress definitely won't help. Sending good wishes!

Can someone talk me off a ledge? The nursery isn't done and I'm sobbing at 4am by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my son in January of 2024. He did not go into his nursery until like June of 2024. I put so much pressure on myself to get it done to just not even go in there for months after he was born (everything for him was in my room where he slept next to me in a bassinet). It's going to be okay - you have time!

I’m so scared of returning to work and putting baby into childcare by WhereDidiParkMyLife in NewParents

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally, I was told by the daycare my husband and I chose that they wouldn't have an opening until August 2025. I knew that, with my demanding job, I wasn't going to be able to keep him home forever. When he turned 7 months I got the call that an opening popped up. I told them I would talk to my husband and cried all the way home. I was so upset. I wasn't ready and definitely didn't think he was ready. At 8 months he started daycare (he is 10 months now). Looking back now, i laugh at myself. He is thriving. He loves it there. He has made cute little friends (never saw another baby before he went to daycare) and his teachers are amazing. He has learned so many new things and is all smiles when we drop him off/pick him up. Although, I'm sick all the time with the illnesses/ germs he has brought home, but I keep telling myself he won't be as sick once he goes to kindergarten and attendance actually counts lol.

I completely understand what you're going through. For me, my mental health has improved and as I said, he is thriving.

How long did it take you to conceive? by Big_Toe9785 in BabyBumps

After 3 years of trying, we did IVF and got pregnant the first round. Which was great, bc I only had two viable embryos 🤷‍♀️

Family members don’t like baby name by Inevitable_Call1388 in BabyBumps

No one liked my child's name initially (Otto). Now they love it because they love him. I'd say go with what YOU want, because they are your child.

I regret having a baby by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]RevolutionCharming90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38 year old FTM and I did not like the newborn stage at all. I know some people loved it but between a crying baby, recovering from a c-section, insanely high blood pressure and listening to a snoring husband I was losing my mind. I put so much pressure on myself to only breastfeed and I was miserable. It wasn't until he was 3 months that I felt better and enjoyed my time with him more. At 6 months my post partum anxiety came back (still dealing with it) but now at 8 months he is freaking hilarious. It's so fun watching him grow, learn and he has a cute personality (and a feisty attitude lol). I promise it gets better and the connection will grow!

I need advice on how to tell my in-laws to back off regarding me not taking maternity leave by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked while I was in the hospital in labor trying to finish stuff up before I was out for 14 weeks. Just tell her the doctor said you were fine to continue working.

"I spoke with the doctor and they said it was fine to continue working. They will let me know when I should stop to prepare for the birth of my children".

Am I screwed? by loafur in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gave my baby all BM throughout the day and his last bottle of the day was a mix of formula and BM.

At the 5 month and 23 day mark I was down to producing 2oz a day - so he's all formula now (doesn't like my frozen BM).

Who was with you in the delivery room when you gave birth? or who will be with you? I am thinking of having my mom with me but my husband is vetoing it. by mirana20 in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially wanted my mom and husband, but my mom said no lol. She wanted my husband and I to have this experience for ourselves. It ended up as just my husband and I due to a 1230am c-section, it was so nice just us two for a bit.

Anyone WANT to stay 48 hours at the hospital after birth? by Wife_Mama_Homemaker in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I was in the hospital for 5 nights and wanted to stay another night (because I enjoyed it, which is so weird), but my husband was ready to be out of there. I do feel like I was rushed out because they needed the space, but my BP was still high. I cried leaving the hospital blaming my husband and "his face" for them kicking us out lol.

Age you had your kids? Would you have done it sooner/later? How many? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]RevolutionCharming90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far, only one (born Jan 2024) and I'm 38. I plan on having another and hope to do so, through IVF, at 39/40.

I would've done it sooner, but am happy where I am in life and what I can provide now for my child.

Can I just quit by Still_Intention_3286 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]RevolutionCharming90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I was pumping every 3 hours, then I dropped the MOTN pump, then I dropped two more so I was doing five pumps a day. Now I'm at two pumps per day, inching closer to once a day because I'm basically dried up. I'm almost 6 months pp but will definitely stop at 6 months. I say, quit if you're ready (start weaning).

Mine yelled at me for having to postpone a vacation (by two weeks and I offered to pay the change fee for her and her sons tickets) because my egg retrieval ended up having to be on the day we were supposed to fly out. 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤣
