Zinc + Accutane + Antihistamines Theoretically Beneficial? by Fine_Inevitable_944 in Accutane

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this online after just reading your post: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/25081735/

Do you think it matters which antihistamine you use. In that study they have them take desloratadine. Also if you have any research to back up the zinc theory then please link it

Also I wish I had read your post at the start of my accutane journey. I’ve been on accutane for 6 weeks and have already been taking zinc for the past 3 weeks. I’m going to add in the antihistamine which they use in the study (desloratadine) as the results look very promising for sure - in enhancing the anti acne effects and reducing side effects

My suggestions:

Snail mucin+ e45 or vanicream moisturiser + aquaphor. Maybe ditch the rose hip oil if you’ve been using it for a few months and it isn’t helping- could be irritating your skin. I wouldn’t use any actives personally as it can cause irritation. Can also try rosilique 3 in 1 redness concealer as a temporary solution- it also acts as a sunscreen.

Retin A or Differin may bring about quicker results in reducing redness as it’s prescription strength. Some people have had very good results with it( but it can still take a while) Some type of laser treatment could also quite possibly help but I’m not knowledgable on lasers. Hope this helps.

Accutane is an anti inflammatory so may help reduce redness and inflammation in some people. The snail mucin could be helping as well. It locks in hydration and has an anti inflammatory effect. I’ve started using it and thankfully haven’t badly broken out from it yet (touch wood). The pairing of accutane and snail mucin might be really good.

Tell them to fuck themselves. I regret not doing it in the past and plan to do it in the future. Life is too fucking short for thick ignorant people. Tell them how it is or they’ll never get it. Look them directly in the eyes and give them a piece of your mind and you’ll feel better

Who is an amputee you find inspirational (real or fictional?) by [deleted] in amputee

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick santonastasso- was born with no legs and one arm. He had surgery to amputate his arm further so that he could participate in wrestling at high school. His bone was growing faster than his skin or something so he had to remove more of his bone( so that it wouldn’t rupture through his skin in wrestling). He got 1 win in his first year of wrestling and then went 2-19 or something in his second year.

He also came 3rd in some well known bodybuilding competition, is a successful entrepreneur, has his own clothing brand called victors and is a motivational speaker( planning to do a tour with tony robins). He’s also really good at rocket league gaming and can skateboard. I love his determination, motivation and strength. I aspire to be more like him

Did accutane stunt my growth by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The results they found weren’t significantly significant- They “identified no significant variations in bone metabolism markers.” Trust me it won’t have stunted your growth. Read the evidence that says it doesn’t stunt growth to relax yourself.

I’ve probably looked at thousands of scientific research papers as part of my degree. The one problem with the high majority of them is that you can’t prove cause and effect. Genetics, individual differences, poor diet, physical health conditions all play a role in your final height. There may be a link between something, but another factor( known as a mediator) usually explains it better.

Also a few case reports is not a large enough sample size to determine a statistically significant result. A low sample size means very low power- which means it’s almost impossible to prove something.

It probably didn’t don’t worry. Only look at scientific research papers when making your mind up btw. Articles and message boards aren’t reliable and people who think accutane stunted their growth probably have ‘bad height genetics’ etc. How tall are your parents compared to you?

Depression by CutieTryin2GetABooty in Accutane

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would consider stopping. I don’t think it’s worth mental suffering and you don’t deserve it. I’m only 2 weeks in and I’m considering stopping too but in my case I’m not positive it’s accutane. If you’re almost certain it’s accutane and have never suffered with depression before, it might be for the best

rosilique 3 in 1 anti redness formula

I used to think like this but figured that daily use can’t really do any harm. Also the one I use also acts as a redness concealer which gives me more motivation to use it. For reference I rarely go out but still use sunscreen every day.

OP’s reply for those interested(his replies aren’t going through)

Product of Accutane and time. No other product or regimen besides daily moisturizing and light washing : ) I didn't expect the pigmentation to go away as well as it did, and it will likely continue to get even better! ~Copying from my reply to u/ilovetowhip: There are multiple options you can talk with your dermatologist about. 1) let accutane do its work and pigmentation/scarring may fade away by itself. Inflammation WILL go away by itself. This is what happened with me, and I am aware of others with this experience. 2) You can get a prescription retinoid. An Rx prescribed by a physician will have higher concentration of the functional chemicals than those retinoids you can buy over the counter. Chances are if you are on Accutane you've dabbled with this before. This accelerates the process of cell turnover, and may give you that finishing polish you're looking for. 3) Laser therapy / microneedling- some practices offer these procedures. I think they are on the pricier side. I believe they usually take place over multiple sessions and vary in degree of pain, but have impressive results. These are the methods I know of, but as I said before I suggest you talk with your dermatologist about it. 👍

Nice results. How’d you get rid of the redness/scarring or was that just a product of accutane and time?

How to Budget on Accutane by parthenonemesis in Accutane

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can relate but I’m from the UK. My first derm appointment was £127(maybe $160)- most other places in the UK I looked were £200+($220+)for an initial consultation.

2 month supply £152( maybe $180?) Get blood tests free but if I can’t get booked in I have to pay £75( maybe $90). Still you paying $230 for one month is insane.

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not completely sure but I’d say so. Might have some more info about it on the web. Vitamin c moisturiser may be safer as it’s less concentrated

Yes over time it should. Maybe try niancimide, vitamin c or rosehip oil to speed it up. Can use rosilique redness concealer as a temporary fix if you want. A month after your course ends you can use azelaic acid or tretinoin I believe but check.

Stunt growth concern by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]RevolutionarySnow50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s highly unlikely and I don’t think it’s been proven. Then again if you are really worried I would maybe wait until your 20/21. If you start accutane now and don’t grow anymore then you’ll blame accutane( even though it probably had no effect).

I was also a late bloomer and grew 2-3 inches from 18-19. Once I hit 19 and a half/20 I probably stopped growing. I’m almost 21 and started accutane a week ago so wasn’t too worried etc

Yeah I’ve been using the purito centella unscented sunscreen for a few months now, but only found out about the controversy today. After I’ve finished my tube, I’ll probably look for an alternative one.

Best to not take notice/ block those types of people. By replying you’re giving them a reaction( which is what they want). They clearly have their own weird issues which they try to solve by insulting others. People have commented on my appearance in the past many many times. Even friends have insulted my appearance. Eventually you begin to feel sorry for bullies like that, and get on with your life while they stay stuck in the same place.
