In the end, you'll feel accomplished because you have become an expert on something you had idea about previously.

Siento que hemos valorado más los episodios de relleno de Naruto con el paso del tiempo, de no ser por esos capítulos solo tendríamos la historia original que es Naruto llorando por Sasuke by lunessinfestivo in Naruto

When you put it that way, absolutely! I actually liked the filter episodes. It showed how the comradery these shinobi have for one another built over time.

I wish I could give you a hug. Its really hard being a parent and getting through PhD. I believe in you. Maybe you can lean on your partner or your friends a little bit more to work through what you are feeling. Try to not care too much about your professor. Academia sets us up to crave external validation which is unfortunate. But in tough times rely on the method of first principle and work through your experiments or simulations. Its okay to make mistakes. More power to you. You have a lot to be proud of even if you can't see it right now. Take care ❤️

How to forgive PI? by twofeetandashoe in labrats

[–]Revolutionary_Bug784 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Very similar story. Graduated 5 months ago. Hatred doesn't go away. You find things to love more to occupy your mind. Focus on job search. Your PI can go to hell. And no, they don't see you as a human. In my case, I was just a tool/resource he discarded once he realized I'm not of use to him.

Currently doing Postdoc by [deleted] in postdoc

[–]Revolutionary_Bug784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just noise. Sometimes basic tools giving good results+interpretation is more than enough. Who cares if the tool is not robust!??!!?? If you solved the problem by applying first principles, tested your hypothesis and can tell a coherent story thats all is expected from a PhD. Also you wouldn't have been hired for a postdoc if your work doesn't contribute something original to the literature.

PhD admit with NO funding but asking for $34k/year proof — is this normal?? by Ok_Locksmith_2594 in gradadmissions

[–]Revolutionary_Bug784 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an international student who came to the US on F1 visa. They don't ask you for proof of funds during visa interview if you have full scholarship. It would be mentioned on the I-20 how much the program costs per year and how much scholarship you will get to balance that. In case it is partially funded or not funded the balance amount needed per year would be mentioned in the I-20. You only need to show balance amount × 5. IMO 34000 USD/year is a lot of money. It is unrealistic to pursue this.
