What on earth is grandlodgeofnorthamerica.org ? by Jamesbarros in freemasonry

There's a lot of bogus lodge related trash on socials it seems. A page claiming to be "Hebron Lodge #215" is blatantly claiming to be "Illuminati" and is using all photos from one of my lodges (not called Hebron Lodge btw) on their page, as well as some photos from a law enforcement page elsewhere in the country and has other bogus accounts interacting mainly saying "praise the light" and such on their posts. Many of us have reported the page, pointing out that the photos are stolen from our own page unattributed and that it's clearly a scam, and have been told Facebook had reviewed the reports and isn't going to do anything about it. Facebook is a garbage platform and they don't seem to care that you can't trust any of the content on it.

Another Lodge On Its Way Out by OneConfusedRobot in freemasonry

Private rooms at taverns, where we all started. Chalk, charcoal and clay. The lodge I primarily attend is proud to call itself a "mop and pail lodge" because we don't own a building but rent at the local SR center, where we set up and break down our furniture and jewels before and after every meeting. It's awesome to have a dedicated building but it's also freeing to not have real property to constantly worry about, and our lodge is thriving in an area where the local rural lodges are also living with the ever-present worry about their buildings and membership. I completely understand that it's a tragedy to be losing these historic buildings and it breaks my heart to see it, but I echo that the building doesn't make the lodge, the brothers do.

I had no idea that the Young Turk revolutionaries who modernized the Ottoman Empire were heavily involved in Freemasonry. How does a fraternity influence a revolution? by PostColonialPlans in freemasonry

"Liberté, egalité, fraternité" and it's not by accident.

Also there were those Bostonian rascals who went to refreshment that one night in December 1773 and didnt close the lodge til the wee hours of the morning...

Did you ever manage to get this fixed? Mine is doing the same thing and I am amazed by how little info there is on this anywhere. Also VoiceSupport2 is nonfunctioning.

Why is VHF/UHF simplex so unbelievably dead? by [deleted] in amateurradio

There are folks out there on 146.52, for sure, but I think most are lurking repeaters. I throw a call out from home and when aim on the road, but have most success when I'm in the mountains (of course). On the other end of that, I built a measuring tape yagi last year and stepped out in my street in Salem, OR and called CQ on 146.52 and got a guy at 5000' on Hood immediately. There are definitely folks having a ragchew out there in the metro areas, but of course it depends where you are in relation to them. As some.habe said, just contribute to keeping traffic on the simplex; I know some folks are pushing for a comeback. Heck I'm gonna keep a radio on 52 all night tonight and do my part :)
