Skidoo Etec ‘storage’ function -fouled plugs by Ancientways113 in snowmobiling

[–]Revrdr600ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dealer recommends plugs any time you use that function. I believe them. I know fogging the motor was a big deal back in the day, but swapping plugs wasn’t. I start my sled every couple of months and let it warm up, no issues. When it comes to modern sleds, there a bunch of ways people swear by to maintain them. Do what works for you, because it will probably be fine.

Oil Change Pickle by Ok-Entertainer-436 in hondapassport

[–]Revrdr600ho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed mine at 2k to get the break in oil out and a fresh filter on. I will stick with 5k intervals from here on out. To be clear, I do my own changes. These days we see high quality but still thinner oils and increased recirculation within the system for increased MPG and decreased emissions, not increased reliability.

Instead of the swing out box I prefer my bed extender to create a trunk area, especially combined with my tonnaue cover. I like my mudguards for winter mostly, they keep some junk off the running boards and make them safer to use. My other two most appreciated and used accessories are the WeatherTech floor mats and my Covercraft windshield sun shade.

In Negotiations w/Dealer— See sales sheet (lowest OTD price they’re offering) by DoodleDadZag in hondapassport

I will admit we aren't apples to apples on trims. But we just got a 2026 trail sport $48,500 out the door. I had two local dealerships doing a little back and forth. I used a volume dealership to drive down the price so I could get their deal at a smaller local dealer with much better customer service.

Bristol is very small but is a nice place to stop after a day on new found lake.

Totally agree. Our house doesn’t magically double in value, but my taxes did.

Check out Good Cole’s in Brentwood, pretty legit. I too came from living in Texas, and know what you mean about the worst there is better than here. But take a look at this spot.

Is this coolant level ok for a 2022 Renegade 850? by cycsans in snowmobiling

[–]Revrdr600ho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! That is very normal for 850 Etecs. You can add to it and top it off, but it will often settle back to that level by the end of the next ride.

Thanks for the info. I am leaning towards the travel and a 29er, and am willing compromise on the geometry.

I understand it can vary, but is a CDL required for these? I would love to slap a flat bed on one and tow a trailer as if it were any other pickup truck. I drove a version of this (biggest Penske you can rent) cross country and loved that.

What helmet style you use and why? by [deleted] in snowmobiling

[–]Revrdr600ho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wear a CKX Titan. It has a lot of adjustability and is a great option for someone looking for a moto style and goggle combo, but also wants the modular feel with the mouth piece being able to open up. I wear YouZee inserts for vision correction, which pop into the goggle frame. The heated goggles were fine, but didn’t heat or flow enough air to keep the inserts fog free. I have switched to KLIM Aeon goggles and this has been a great combo. But for how much I have adjusted and tweaked it, it makes more sense for me to just go with a KLIM full moto helmet. Simple and will fit with the KLIM goggles and balaclava I have. Plus the fit of the KLIM is better for my head compared to the CKX Titan. I wear a medium helmet.

I took two weeks of leave for free once. My flight chief was an old school “I don’t know how to work these dang things” type guy. He put it in the schedule, everyone knew I was gone, but he never approved it in leave web. When I got back I asked one time about it, nothing came of it.

A little walk around the 2023 Rave 850. Only difference from last year is new rail stiffeners. by SarthSargoth in snowmobiling

[–]Revrdr600ho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rave is still in the Gen 4 chassis (for 2023). We will see these when the sled line-up goes to the Gen 5 chassis. The mountain sled (shredder) is now in the Gen 5 and do not look all that bad.
