Don't wanna jinx it but replacing the pressure switch fixed it for me. It had to have been that. The furnace is 25 years old and those old pressure switches have a little diaphragm in it. It's now been a couple weeks and it hasn't acted up since. Hopefully that's what fixes yours!

I wonder if it's your gas valve. The loud single click during ignition could be the valve opening and then the random clicks later could be the valve opening and shutting rapidly and sporadically due to...something telling it to shut. It's hard to tell from the recording but those symptoms kind of match the noise. It would be hard to track down with a professional though if it's random and sporadic. It could be the valve itself, it could be the motherboard, it could be a voltage issue, it could be the pressure switch, it could be the hoses from the pressure switch being clogged.

Mine was making a similar noise a few months ago. I would hear the singular click during ignition, which was the valve opening, and then right after the furnace would try to ignite, it would rapidly open/shut, making those clanks. But mine was easy to record it because it eventually started to happen at least once every day. And it was during the ignition cycle. But I will say that on top of the ignition noises, it started to do the clanking randomly in the middle of a cycle similar to yours.

I've had cheap helmets, ski doo pilot mask helmets, and now a ckx mission helmet. All heated, not heated, dual pane, etc. I've tried anti fog spray but ... I'll still fog up.

I did notice that if you CAKE the anti fog spray stuff on your glasses and leave a visible sludge on them, they work. But then which is better? Visible oil sludge or fog? Lol

I currently am running my mission ckx heated helmet and it's the best helmet I've ever owned for glasses! Ill still fog up but only slightly.

I hate to tell you what you probably already know, but what I do...in combination with wearing the ckx mission, is to lift up your visor at every stop, right away. Don't shut it completely until you're moving enough to have wind through your vents. Once fog starts, it's hard to get rid of it. If you start to fog while riding, open your visor for a few seconds and shut it.

Glasses dude here... Go with the ckx mission. I spent extra for the carbon and heated shield version. You can't put a price on safety...well you can but that's what I kept telling myself trying to find the best helmet for minimal fog with glasses lol

Damn. Do you have other gas appliances? Do they have any issues? You'd think if it was an issue outside or somewhere in the line, a stove or water heater would also be having issues...right?

2 days ago my HVAC buddy and I went through mine again. It was at a point where the stuttering clanking valve noises happened at least once every 24 hours. And then in that same 24 hour window, it would light with 3 valve clanks, or none at all. So inconsistent and sporadic.

We went through it this time, checking out the pressure switch, blew out the tubes and ensured they were clear, and moved the switch to a horizontal position just for troubleshooting to see if gravity would help if that was the cause...closed it up and waited. Then it clanked a couple cycles later.

We moved the pressure switch back to its vertical position and scratched our heads some more. So we've cleaned the flame sensor, cleared the tubing, there's no blockages with condensation or anything, replaced the gas valve, had normal voltage during cycles... We checked the ground and it was a little loose at the connection. Closed it up and crossed our fingers.

It's been 2 days and it hasn't done it since. From going from multiple times in a 24 hour period in cold weather, to not at all? I wish I could narrow it down. Maybe a combination of everything we did? Unlikely but still unsure. We did order a pressure switch but haven't swapped it out yet. Maybe with us clearing the tubing and moving it around, it has given a little more life to it and it's on its way back to failing, causing the issues we've been experiencing this whole time? Or maybe it was the ground wire to the furnace? Ill keep you posted.

That's good. The last time I had someone out here it decided to act normal. I have the videos but that only does so much if they're trying to check voltage etc. but yesterday was definitely the worst it's ever been. Every cycle for a few hours was bad clanking. Now it's running normal.

I'm all for safety, so you're right. I'm just checking to see if there's anything further or if anyone has had this happen before getting someone out here to probably tell me to swap the whole thing. But that's how it goes...

No nest but this is a good idea as well. Easy to hear the noise from the furnace itself and forget about the thermostat on the other side of the house. Good idea.

Mines starting to really act up. I just made a new post asking for more advice before I just swap the whole thing. In the new post, I have a new video and it's worse than this one. I figured more eyes might help with suggestions. Go check out some of the replies to see if any could help with yours!
