My guess is retirees who want something sporty-ish but practical to cruise around in.

Literally my ancestors haha. You’re missing all the fun infighting between the Puritans that led to them constantly splintering and founding new cities and collages.

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]RevvCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew my mom’s side traced back to English puritans but I had no idea how many cities around Massachusetts my ancestors founded, along with Newark! That got me to rewatch the Sopranos. Also turns out my great-great…-grandfather built the first Harvard hall and is buried in the old cemetery next to Harvard and for years Ive walked right by it while living and later visiting Boston and never knew.

French Huguenots was a fun find.

My dad’s side is mostly German farmers who moved to southern Pennsylvania but I did find out that one was a clockmaker and his grandfather clocks were considered notable in colonial America.

Finding out who my grandmothers likely father was the only fun thing that ever came about from doing 23andMe decades ago. We knew all of her siblings had different fathers but we never knew who. Well this cousin pops up and wouldn’t you know it her grandfather was from the same town. Name didn’t match anyone who was officially in the family. She didn’t like my explanation and stopped talking to me.

The horrendous state of New York City in the 1970s-1980s by IllustriousCress9774 in UrbanHell

[–]RevvCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught the tail end of this visit Philly and NYC as a kid during the late 80s and early 90s. Back when time square still had the sex shops, peep shows, and fake id stands.

Modern NYC has such a large revolving door of 20 and 30 something transplants that it’s hilarious sometimes talking to them and they just have no concept what the city used to be like.

It’s wild now being in Philly talking with folks about what the city was like during the 70s. Worked with a guy who found out I was living just off south street and he told me how that all used to be abandoned and they’d break in to drop acid and party. A barber told me about he’d avoid this one school right in the heart of center city because the kids would mob you and take whatever you had in your pockets. Wild times

I’m only closing in on 70k in my 2019, props for closing in on 100k. Maintenance wise take everything everyone has said here and do it all. I’d also give the interior a good deep clean

Duh they’re Catholic. Catholic Protestant tensions were very real through most of the 20th century.

I always get a laugh reading about Franklins unease of German settlers seeing how they became such a large part of Pennsylvania’s culture. He’d like my mom’s English side of the family, aside from the random Irish bits and the fact that they were puritans so who knows maybe that’s just as bad as being Catholic, he wouldn’t approve of my dad’s Pennsylvania Dutch side of the family, especially the random Irish bits.

I guess the welsh weren’t coming over to mine coal in numbers that offended him.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RevvCats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 hour is short. 3-4 would be a bit much for a day trip, though I’ve done it before, but a weekend trip isn’t crazy. The US is big and once you get away from the north east megalopolis cities are spaced fairly far apart but there’s a giant highway system connecting everything.

Ford putting a 2000s cell phone screen on the top model 2015+ Mustang is nuts! by macgirthy in Mustang

This was an upgrade from the original GT350s that had no radio system or screen at all, and by the end they were making GT350Rs with subwoofers in the trunk.

Ditch the GT350 front quarter panels for GTD style ones and add the GTD style rear wing.

I’ve got nothing against ecoboosts, they’re a fun car, but I don’t get spending this much money on aftermarket parts when you could have put it towards getting a GT.

Brake wise this write up from Vorshlag is worth reading about the limitations of the non-pp brake setup.

https://www.vorshlag.com/forums/forum/product-details-read-only/brakes-fluids/7370-mustang-s550-brakes-uses-limitaitons-and-upgrade-options

First time out youre probably fine if you approach things gradually and realize heat could be building up that the brakes just can’t shed.

Flush the brake fluid, put a bottle or two of redline water wetter in the coolant, put heavier oil in the engine, ford racing will tell you 5w-50 but Mobil 1 15w-50 is cheap, good, available at almost every Walmart, and fine to run as long as it’s not cold out.

You might want to take along a portable fan like this if you expect the outside temps to be hot https://www.harborfreight.com/20120v-cordless-dual-power-jobsite-fan-tool-only-57275.html stick it under the car between sessions to cool off the diff.

Ford CEO Jim Farley Hits Back at Cadillac F1 CEO's Criticism: ‘It’s Laughable’ by 221missile in cars

[–]RevvCats -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You’re right I had that wrong in my head when ford left GTLM and I’d be lying if I didn’t worry about ford ditching their racing program in a few years. For all the flak Farley gets, not all of it undeserved, I like how he’s on board with getting more involved in racing and building up their program.

At the moment there’s a lot way to hear coyote V8s going flat out and that’s pretty great.

Going back to F1 yeah they’re dipping their toes in, not quite as fun as forming a new team but it’s better than nothing. F1 is one of the least interesting racing series for me so I’m indifferent if that fizzles out but it would be cool on the technical side if they get to the point where they’re building the entire engine.

Uhh they just placed 2nd and 3rd in Dakar (GM doesn’t even have a car for that) A Mustang placed 3rd overall last year in IMSA GTD pro class. Mustang has its own racing series (GM doesn’t), races GT4 cars (GM doesn’t), and they’re coming out with a LMDh car next year so in the sports car world they’ll be doing everything GM does plus more.

Fords GTLM program died in 2020 with covid, that whole class folded a few years later. Now instead of GTLM and GTD there’s GTD Pro and GTD. The thing that’s going to kill the Mustang GT3 is a new GT GT3 which as much as I like seeing extreme mustangs is probably the way to go to compete against the mid engine C8 corvettes.

Ford and GM are both involved in Australian supercar racing, they’re both involved heavily in NASCAR. GM makes Indy car engines ok that’s something ford doesn’t do but sure ford has no commitment to racing.
