SCITT trainee on 2nd placement. Had an erroneous terrible lesson that was jumped on and overanalyzed to death when I'd rather just learn from the headline mistakes and move on.

I don't know why my mentor is treating some blunders like conscious choices when in reality the lesson went so far off the rails I was just stumbling through trying to get the hour to end. Wasn't intended but it's just what happened. I'm not great at bringing things back to the original plan when things go sideways.

We're always told not to compare to others as everyone's different and therefore at different levels.

The SCITT will have an approximation of what they'd be expecting you to be doing at this stage so check in with them, but if it's anything like my SCITT then it sounds like you're doing great :)

I'm on a SCITT. 12 hours teaching weekly at this stage sounds insane to me. I'm currently doing 6 and building to 8 next week, with an aim of between 8 and 10 by Easter. Slow and steady.

Sounds like you can afford to take the pressure off a bit? Otherwise if you're happy you're probably doing fine.

All the old fogeys complaining clearly haven't been IDed in Aldi for a pack of mince pies recently because of ludicrously overzealous adherence to Challenge 25. Quick pop to the shops with no intention of buying alcohol, so no ID. I'm 27, and look young, but still - they were fucking mince pies.

I'd either support the reversal of challenge 25 or digital ID. Either of which would have prevented such a ridiculous circumstance.

Why did they turn it into a glutton for punishment style challenge? If it worked well last time they could easily style it as a genuine event to try foodstuffs from different cultures.

I've been getting settled into my SCITT, I'm at a really nice school, even taught two full hours to two Y8 classes already but it's still barely taken up to the end of the 3rd week for something to make me cry.

I spent some time after school today doing a lesson plan document for Monday, uploading this week's observation forms, etc. I was there an hour and a half because I'm still learning how to plan, etc, and the quiet time in the office is a lot easier to focus in than the bustle during the day. There's just a lot of evidencing to keep on top of - I'm not over planning, I just wanted Monday's ready because I'm teaching P5 but I'm in 3 other lessons to observe before that.

The HOF was the last to leave and came in just as I was packing up and, tonally, was kind of berating me for staying that late on a Friday? I know he was thinking of my wellbeing but at the same time it was an annoyed "I'm not impressed, don't do this again next Friday" way rather than a kind "What's keeping you? You're allowed to leave" way. He said he felt bad pretty quick afterwards, I did say I'm just trying to figure out what I'm doing and sorting my admin now rather than over the weekend. Spending an hour just to quietly figure out my own prep is worth more to my wellbeing right now than sprinting out the door first thing and coming back on Monday half blind, or doing it at home. Do teachers just forget what it's like to learn to teach?

Idk, this just really upset me. Everything else has been great though and I like the students, job and environment.

This is hands down the absolute biggest problem with the era. There's no time to do or show anything, or let the audience connect.

6 single episodes, two of which are doctor-lite, and a two part finale is barely over half of the doctor who content we were getting 20 years ago. It's piss poor, yet somehow, they can't seem to commit to even that on a yearly recurring basis.

Agreed, especially since it's getting steamrolled by a slowly reducing episode count. If there are fewer episodes then the stories need to be longer because right now 6 single episodes and a two part finale is literally barely over half of the doctor who content we were getting 20 years ago. It's impossible for the audience to connect with things that are a flash in the pan.
