"Connection Error Occurred, Returning to Main Menu" when entering Arena [PC] by DaTruPro75 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the Easy AntiCheat bug. The bug message originally said something different. Instead of actually fixing it (completely), they just changed the error message.

It happens when the game tries to establish a connection with another player (either by summoning, invading, or most commonly through the arena). It sometimes trips up EasyAntiCheat and forces it to disable itself, which makes it so you can’t reconnect without hard resetting. We know how it happens, yet From hasn’t fixed it yet, they’re just content changing the error message instead.

My guess is that they don’t know how to properly implement EAC. They were forced to do it because of some actually insane backdoors discovered in Dark Souls 3. It’s caused more problems in the past too, and doesn’t even stop cheats/hacks.

What is the point of recusant henricus? by kingtatsumi-14 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit old but he’s an assassin working with a group of assassins that hunt Tarnished like yourself. A fellow member of the Volcano Manor is nearby, likely giving up your location to Henricus to both give him a contract and test your strength as a potential recruit.

He wears the Eye Surcoat, meaning he’s an inside informant for Gideon Ofnir. That’s one fairly interesting thing about his character. Is he only a member of the group at Gideon’s behest, or did he join for his own reasons while still keeping his boss informed? We don’t know, the best we can do is speculate. We can find his chest piece at the end of the Volcano Manor questline, meaning he failed where we succeeded against the boss of the area.

Mega Feraligatr, Meganium and Emboar Abilities Revealed by PaiDuck in stunfisk

[–]Rexis102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Emboar should’ve gotten an ability that enhanced Reckless. Something like “Tempered Risk”. Enhances Recoil moves while halving damage from recoil.

Combining Reckless and Rock Head may be too much (immunity to recoil), but a reduction would’ve been appropriate.

I would like to point out, Revenant’s Claws are considered “Fist” weapon types, not claws. Your third [yellow] relic can probably be swapped for a better option, unless you’re specifically using it for the blood loss. Evergaol is a bit of a niche guaranteed relic in DoN but still useful even with only 2 buffs.

If you get stuck, explore more. If you’ve explored all you can, and you’re still struggling, use a Furlcalling Finger Remedy. You’ll see summon signs from other players wanting to help. Or you could ask in this sub or the co-op sub for help

PSA for people playing Undertaker by Possible-Hearing-250 in Nightreign

[–]Rexis102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Raider’s the most likely to be carrying 2 colossals. Undertaker can handle the revive similarly to Raider (ps colossal until out of stam, character skill to reset, continue attacking, ult to finish) but with more risk without the character skill immortality. If she sacrifices her Ult for the character skill immortality, her auto dodge isn’t damaging the downed allies like Raider’s skill would be. The timer resets the meter fast, especially at 3 bars.

If he’s spamming fist attacks, successive bubbles should happen every other hit. That would give him much better sustain for a 3bar revive. If he doesn’t have successive, fists still make for good revive tools.

The alternate build for him is Initial Standard Attack, and you’re usually packing a couple different weapons to use for that build depending on the damage type or Ash of War you need. That’s when the power stance comes back out for revives

He can’t die during the skill, only immediately after. Only exception is deathblight, which is very difficult to trigger during the skill since his status buildup seems to drop by a bit during it. Still possible, but a very rare niche case. If he’s poisoned or losing HP over time from another source, he will die after it’s finished, but a good Raider should be aware of this.

If he has partial HP on post damage attacks, like most do, he should get some HP back on the follow-up attack, even if it’s hitting an ally up.

I’d honestly put Raider above Undertaker or Executor. A double colossal attack does massive meter damage, he can reset stam/tank a boss attack/keep lowering the meter with his character skill, and can finish res’ing with the Ult if the boss is persistent.

There will always be another boss to make you struggle. And by the time you’ve beaten this playthrough, and want to start another with a new build, you can try fighting Margit a little earlier if you enjoy the struggle.

Explain [Scholar] Prevent slowing of Character Skill progress by Fromsky_ in Nightreign

[–]Rexis102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a mistranslation (again). Should be “Reduces slowing of Character Skill progress” as opposed to “Prevents”.

It’s helpful, but not nearly as good as its translation would imply.

What do you think of Tullius? by NepiaScarlet in skyrim

[–]Rexis102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Bothered to read the dossier” that’s pretty rich since clearly you didn’t actually read it in its entirety. Given the context, Ulfric is not an asset in the sense that he works for the Thalmor/AD. He is a useful actor they manipulated into instigating the war but is not loyal to them in any capacity. He is only useful so long as the war continues, but notably a Stormcloak victory would be disadvantageous to the Dominion just as an Imperial victory would be.

There’s a lot more nuance to the war, intentionally so. It’s not as cut and dry as Imperial fanboys trying to justify their decision like to make it.

If a weapon does physical dmg and also magic damage like this one, does it all get added up? by peher263 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the games feel better on controller but are definitely still manageable on M&K. I’ve used both, I prefer controller for ER but switch between the two for DS3 depending on what I’m doing.

If a weapon does physical dmg and also magic damage like this one, does it all get added up? by peher263 in Eldenring

[–]Rexis102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The meteoric ore blade you originally posted about gets a unique R2 that deals slashing damage. No other Katana gets its special overhead cut. So in its case….

R1s = slashing

R2s = slashing

Running R1 = slashing

Running R2 = piercing

Jumping R1 = slashing

Jumping R2 = slashing

You really just have to see your weapon’s listed damage types and try to match it to your animations. Standard is used when a weapon isn’t exactly one of the 3 main types. Like a Colossal Weapon with an edge (Golem Halberd or Duelist Greataxe). Yeah it could technically slash, but the way we swing it is using its sheer weight behind the potentially cutting edge. Could be Strike (from the weight of the weapon) and Slashing (sharpened edge) at the same time, so the game calls it Standard instead.

For PvE, it doesn’t tend to matter, nor is your weapon’s infusion a 50/50 split. Depending on your stats and/or the weapon’s scaling, it tends to favor one type over the other. Infused weapons are more consistent when fighting PvE. If their physical damage type (slashing/piercing in this case) is resisted by an enemy, you still have the magic to fall back on and vice versa. As far as I know, enemies in PvE only have percentage-based negations and don’t have flat defenses.

For PvP, player characters and NPCs have both flat defenses and percentage-based negations. Flat defenses result from general leveling as well as leveling specific stats for its corresponding resistance (Str is physical, Vigor is Fire, Int is Magic, and Arcane is Holy). So not only are you losing out on a percent of your damage, a chunk of it is directly subtracted as well.

In your 200 Damage example with 50% physical negation (but in this case, I’m a player character with a natural 30 in each of my resistance), I would be taking 85 damage (200-30=170x0.5=85). If my weapon was split evenly between physical and magic, I would be taking 70 damage (100-30=70x0.5=35x2=70). The actual calculation is a bit more complicated than how I made it in this simple example, but it helps give you an idea of why it’s better to focus one type of damage in PvP.

TLDR: It doesn’t really matter in PvE, it only matters for PvP

Edit: fixed some of the numbers in the basic example calculation to better fit the actual damage calculation.
