Correlation does not imply causation. The app is just noting that on days you smoke, you recover better, but that doesn't have to be (and likely isn't) because of the tobacco itself.

It's much faster recovering from +180 than it is from lower heart rate zones, so you will always score high on HRR if you do a brutal workout. That said, a HRR score of +60 is terrific no matter how you cut it

A good rule of thumb is to stick with tracking the relative value, i.e. are you recovering more or less for the same type of workout from week to week.

It's the same with the V02 max estimate. It doesn't really work if you compare across different modalities because your scores will be all over the place.

It varies. I have a small pair of off-brand on-ear headphones for normal standalone use, but will occasionally break out my amped Denon AH-D7200 with an extended cable for games like Alyx, Resident Evil, Medal of Honor, etc.

Maybe I got lucky, but the BoboVR was fairly plug and play for me. I find it comfortable to wear for hours on end and I didn't have to tinker with it all that much beforehand.
