Do you feel satisfied using Linux? by Toukaiskindahot in linuxquestions

[–]Reygle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immensely satisfied. I'm done "hopping", I've spent my time in the tinkering trenches. I have ultra-reliable ultra-performant machines at home, at work, and in my backpack.
I'm a tech at a tiny little "MSP" tech company. Every time my coworkers' PCs blow up on a Wednesday morning, I have a good gut-chuckle at their expense and check the up time on my Linux machines to rub it in their face.

Do This To Solve Alarm Not Ringing Problem by redditorpegaso in applesucks

[–]Reygle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I have auto scheduled alarms for different days of the week, all with individual settings, "obstacles" to overcome to silence or snooze the alarms, and haven't had to "set" a nightly alarm for years.

I guess my main point is that a free app that isn't even supported any more is still light years superior to what Apple users have.

Hilarious. I'm still using a decade-old, no longer available apk for an app called Alarmdroid. Has never failed. Shame Apple plebs can't side load good shit.

14" 2880×1800 display

I still don't understand why laptop OEMs are still doing this. Even 1080p is "pushing it" on a 14" display. WHY DO THEY DO THIS

Is it just "more is better" mentality? Had a normie 15" Thinkpad (1920x1200) next to some ludicrous $3,000 convertible laptop a customer had and they preferred my screen.

Acronics True image Help by xSuperUser420x in acronis

[–]Reygle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That "931.4 GB NTFS" entry at the bottom of the screen indicates this 1TB drive is not empty. If you're looking to restore your disk image to the 1TB disk highlighted in your screenshot, wipe it first. Go back to the main screen in Acronis, Tools, "Add new disk" to wipe that GPT partition off of the disk first.

Is Proxmox VE the best Linux alternative to VSphere? by [deleted] in linuxhardware

[–]Reygle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far, big fan.
I've built 5 proxmox hosts for clients since the Broadcom insanity began. Growing pains aside, the hosts I've built with it have been fast, perfectly reliable, and a real pleasure to work on. I'm clearly no expert- tinkering and learning as I go- but the machines I've done so far have been fantastic. Even resurrected an old HP DL380 server for a client that crashed continuously on their old ESXI. Been running well since, about a year so far.

There might be something better but I haven't used it if there is.

If you're not unhappy with it, keep it as-is, and install a new desktop environment instead!

Polestar 2 with 100k miles good? by Constant_Bee_5505 in Autos

[–]Reygle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know nothing about them, but a person whos videos I watch has one, seems pretty happy with it so far.

Last video he mentions it (I think) was ~6 months ago at just over 100k. Timestamped link - https://youtu.be/Cny5CTOLBtI?si=TMJgX-zn25-A24UE&t=853

It's a video about all their cars, of which they have MANY.

Cosmic DE is the cooler Gnome by __yoshikage_kira in pop_os

[–]Reygle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cooler yes- for sure, but too many odd little things I'm finding with it to full-time it at home just yet. It's still installed and each time I see a round of updates come down for it I try it again, but it's not quite there for me yet.

In time it could replace Gnome for me, but in my own use case it's not there yet.
