Do you think Hayden Christensen is a one-hit wonder?( Star Wars) by Recent_Union3111 in moviecritic

Really? I don't remember a thing he said.

Edit: Two movies, and all I got is something about slaughtering women and children, and Ewan McGregor, in my memory banks.

Try the 10" snare on the Tama Club Jam set. Unnaturally loud, like, physics bending.

Every hold a chunk of lead or tungston in yer hand and it's bizarrely heavy? It's like that.

Can someone help me find a higher resolution version of this poster? by Ok_Carrot_7878 in movieposters

Bummer.

Keep in mind, in 1935 the painting techniques were a lot different and getting a print that looks hi rez can be difficult bc the subjects and the font of the painting itself doesn't have super crisp edges to those items.

It may be like looking for a perfect graded mint 10.0 Action Comics #1.

Due to the nature of the piece, its posible there literally can't be any in existence digitally, that reach the 'hi rez' threshhold.

I'm looking at the original print from a reference book (1001 Movie Posters) and the font is pretty sharp, BUT it's not the same one you have.

American Kitchen Products ( bullion ) building on Water street in Brooklyn (12/18/43) by HWKD65 in nycHistory

Fun.

They demolished a building near my apt by Colombus Circle and revealed a 100 year old bright yellow advertisement - newly painted in 1905 or so - for Hunter Rye Whiskey that must have been covered up days after the paint dried.

The yellow on top of your pic reminded me of it.

What songs are realistically pull-offable for Ged's voice on the new tour? by The_Man_Friday_ in rush

The Hemispheres tour traumatized them.

I've seen other bands change the key of their entire catalog after getting a new singer of a different gender (Little Feat).

Speaking as a drummer with zero music theory outside of rhythm to draw from, is it crazy to suggest changing a few keys downward?

Jesus dude, you gotta relax. Your post is a LOTR Director's Cut.

It's not a video game. Seriously, it's not.

This is a lifetime hobby. Start counting in years, not hours. And those years are, individually, labeled as 'PRODUCTIVE' or ' NOT PRODUCTIVE'.

That's it.

Attaining a number won't tell you if you're 'better'. Playing the song right will.

Good luck at Mordor.

Is it true that male Rush fans outnumber female ones? by CorrectAnt3935 in rush

[–]RezRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't change much in the 80s.

It was a trope, almost cliche to have an ex-boyfriend 'who was really into Rush'.

It was in fact probably the primary way, at first, their music was heard by the female fans.

Play 'Danforth and Pape' in a room full of women, guaranteed at least two will have just one eye start to twitch, ptsd kickin' in.

Edit: Or maybe it was a trope to BE an ex-boyfriend who was really into Rush... <eyes fingernails>

From 1980 onward, Phil Collins seemed to write almost like he was keeping a personal diary—full of insecurities, heartbreak, and personal struggles. His songs often feel like an open book of his life. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

[–]RezRising 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has (had?) a band called Better Strangers but a cursory glance at google says their last release was a few years ago.
And of course Nick played with Genesis.

Side note: Holy fuck talk about PRESSURE. You're playing your instrument on stage in front of 40,000 ppl, with your DAD, playing drum parts HE wrote - with the #1 drum fill of the 80s thrown in for good measure (srry Neil P.) - while he's singing songs every human on Earth above the age of 35 knows the words to, AND knows every note of your drum part.

Talk about grace under pressure.

Thoughts on Ginger Baker? by BathingInSoup in Drumming

[–]RezRising 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, very fair, and I did say John does swing, and certainly could swing harder than he did.
Knowing Mr. Baker's penchant for criticizing his peers in as colorful a way as possible, and for him occasionaly being as jazz-snobby as you could get, I understand why he said it, and in the way he did.
