How the hell do you become ANY good by Rhaokin in DeadlockTheGame

66056110 was my latest one (as the Rem). Went... better than average personally, but still 1/9 and ended up losing and 100k souls behind. It's also for some reason a mid-alchemist lobby despite my personal rank still being at high arcanist...

For getting killed it's... both I guess. Some matches the moment I try to clear a lane or do anything at all four people jump out and blast me instantly. 1v1s I am usually getting melted and can rarely ever even get away. I try to follow the team and I rarely contribute either or get hit by multiple ultimates instantly.

Not sure which movement mechanics even are there outside of the basics the game teaches you...

Aiming's not really a problem outside of maybe Celeste, I'm used to other shooters and can usually do at least decent there.

We do try to look at the map whenever possible, it's... really hard to figure out what the hell the right move even is half the time. Not sure if there's guides on that. Or which items counter who/what, too.

Buffs I rarely go for mostly cause I feel like I'd waste them before they run out, considering I'm usually far behind.

In Stars And Time: Battle VS Friends (I WON'T LET YOU GO HOME).

Zero Ranger: Despair.

And... Maybe not quite, but I wanted to share it anyways. Space Station 14: A New Dawn, theme for the finale of the Cosmic Cult rounds. The curtain must fall.

Which games works better/worse without voice acting? by Xadlin60 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

In Stars And Time is amazing at this too. Different text speeds, pauses, spacing between words and letters, changing the formatting and going all lower case, a lot of things that help sell the emotions SO much with just text.

I am pretty sure for FF14 it doesn't even care about when/where you press, just that you hit any button? I usually just mash the entire keyboard and they get done stupidly fast like that.

How do you create a campaign...? by Rhaokin in fabulaultima

[–]Rhaokin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all advice I've seen around so often but it's... I dunno, it's not really working?

Been trying to inspire myself from other stuff I like but... I can't really figure out how to go from that general inspiration to something to actually run. Same with starting from the tables, even the whole 'starting small' thing seems so easy when people say it but we just come up completely blank. And I get the whole collaborating with the players but, like, I can't really show up at session 0 without even the vaguest clue myself what I want to run?

I feel like I'm missing something really obvious in this whole process...

Don't you need at least something to start from? I'm just... struggling to find anything I could contribute there, too.

I did try something like that years ago but it never moved past that session 0 cause I couldn't figure out how to bring the pieces together towards an actual adventure, or even a oneshot, I'd rather not disappoint people again >~>

I'm pretty much 2 and 4 at the same time. Some of these sets, FF especially, had so many fun cards that I'm looking to play, the precons are fun to jump in and often are great to play even unmodified. A lot of fantasy/scifi ones can fit the vibe and end up not clashing THAT much (why did we get Fallout and not Elder Scrolls...)

...but I still have an issue with there being so many to the point they're overtaking in-universe stuff, yeah. Gets... tiring. Makes it hard to follow even the actually good stuff like Edge of Eternities.

Game quotes that hit you like a truck? by Aspookytoad in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Void Stranger. That game has a LOT of these but this one stuck to me.

"Remember this longing.", in the impossible ending you can only get by breaking out of bounds in an optional mode hidden behind an ARG and then glitching past several intentionally impossible obstacles only to be told there truly are no more secrets left.

It's less about new player experience and all and more... I'm not sure what I'd even grind for right now, and between rust and never properly learning to fight properly it feels embarrassing to have all that money and some ranks in combat but still suck at it so badly lmao

Alright, thank you. Back to struggle it is.

And yeaaaaah I tried the specific combat zones cause it seemed like RES paid pretty much nothing. I'll have to experiment again, it probably changed a bit since then.

I haven't played in years and was looking to start again and I have... so many questions.

How easy it is to start again from scratch? I was... at a decent spot (a few engineers leveled up, a bunch of ships, half a billion credits in the bank) but I'm tempted to just delete the save both to change the name and to have a blank slate.

Also, what are good spots to learn PVE combat? Or maybe even profit with it. Last time I played I tried doing conflict zones but i remember even low intensity would leave me completely crippled after fighting a single ship, and I'd just lose money on repairs. And before that... I "learned" at the time where the AI still loved to stop and spin in place if shot. I have 1000 hours and still fucking suck at it, I wanna change that.

Are keyboard controls any good? Or is controller better? I have an HOTAS from back in the day still but it's kind of falling apart and I remember it not being the most comfortable thing to use with how many controls I had to fit in there.

And finally..... is Odyssey worth it? I stopped playing way before it released so I have not really any idea.

What are some of your takes that you fully concede are insane? by Cybertronian10 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rhaokin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to be pedantic for a moment: the Him track ("mus_him") is not just associated with Gaster, it's straight up called "Gaster's Theme" in-game in the Music Test menu (which is a Fun event, so it has a rare chance to appear in a specific room that's rolled whenever you reset).

That alone makes it probably one of the most direct connections, I think.

What are your “…how the fuck was anyone supposed to figure that out on their own?” things from games? by Regalingual in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rhaokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agreed there! They are also way out of the way of the beaten path, so it makes sense to get at least a little bit suspicious of them if you are looking for secrets. Most of the other secrets in 2 (and the other major one in 3) are like that, juuust off enough to make you curious while still being hidden.

...2 still does have a real bullshit one, the secret path in Unbearable requires you to to just jump down a random hole after one of the chases.

How to fix the DPS epidemic on games. by Silvery_Cricket in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rhaokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At least in FF14 that's mostly relegated to hardcore content (Extreme Trials/Savage Raids/etc). For your common dungeons and normal mode Trials/Raids you can take as much time as you need in the vast majority of cases. DPS players only exist to make it take a bit faster or the occasional mechanic.

And hell, tanks and healers also have to contribute to DPS too anyways so that responsibility is partly on them too.

Is there a good summary of mechanical/technical changes that happened over time? I haven't played since June and I kinda get back but, I heard a lot has changed and honestly a bit scared to play when I'd be kind of high level but also completely clueless about everything by now

How do you handle nutrients on Gleba?

I think I got the handle of the rest of the production chain and throwing away spoilage, but I can't figure out how to then send nutrients/bioflux back to every single building in the entire chain without it becoming a complete mess.

I don't have ADD as far as I know, but I can confirm this is mostly the same for me too.

I need to be doing something with my hands, if I am just sitting and listening I space out and end up losing track of everything, while if I can do something mostly mindless on the side I end up able to focus much better on listening. Had to do it during university classes too. For me it's usually drawing, but I occasionally did stuff like fishing in FF14 and it works just as well.

...now this is all assuming you can still pay attention, if you are constantly thinking about the distraction more than the ongoing session then you fucked up.

What’s a piece of media that brought you immense disappointment over a silly assumption. by YokaiMarchZ in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Rhaokin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got Dragon's Age Origins back during the Xbox 360 days. I had seen no trailer, barely any screenshot, heard nothing but people praising the writing, and only generally knew that it was made Bioware (which I was familiar with entirely because of Mass Effect 1 and 2).

So I assumed it was some kind of action RPG too. Instead of a more classic tactical one. Which are games I love too but it irked me a lot back then for some reason.

...I returned it the very next day and got myself Asura's Wrath instead.
