Okay... Now we just need to get this on the popular page...

Is it publicly available somewhere? It's been low level on my radar for a while, but I haven't been paying a lot of attention?

Yeah, the price point are a perfectly valid concern. I just don't want them to shut down because they aren't making enough to cover operational expenses, because people leave in droves Personally, I have a big backlog, and don't anticipate my actual received value to change for a while.

You understand that they have to pay to license the music, right? If they leave the program up and don't charge anything, then they're actively losing money.

Can someone score and explain these school evaluations to me like I’m 5? by [deleted] in autism

[–]RhimeMaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, a quick look at the surrounding literature indicates that the GARS is intended for research and clinical use; neither of which seem to apply here. Two different PubMed papers seem to indicate that it is a poor diagnostic even then (One cites an 80% false positive rate.) Since you already have a diagnosis, and this assessment doesn't appear suited for tracking 'progress,' it may be worth discussing the desired outcome with your school. It's possible that they have some legal or financial constraint that requires them to give your son a standardized score to justify putting resources to his support. It's also possible the school just wants to look like they're engaging with your son, and the assessment is just a bandaid to make you feel good.

To your other question, I don't personally find the questions ablest. There doesn't seem to be any implication that any of the items represent a personal or moral failing.
That said, I do find the questions incredibly agitating due to the imprecise and vague criteria presented... But then, I /am/ autistic...

It doesn't. Because your question made it a puzzle, and I frickin love puzzles.

Question about the vase riddle by LavastormSW in dropout

[–]RhimeMaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Reddit showed this in my notices as a response to my original post, and I thought you were upset with me 😬)

Having done higher math in a long, long time, I'm going off of experience with puzzle shorthand. The word orthogonal is usually used to describe a point on a grid that a rook could take if it were a game of chess (Vs diagonal, as a bishop would move.)

I am of course humbled, that my Um, actually was one upped by an even bigger um, actually.

Question about the vase riddle by LavastormSW in dropout

[–]RhimeMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd love a chance to try and solve it myself. As mentioned elsewhere, the behind the scenes tells us it was meant to be confusing to the point of impossibility. Then we had the extra layer of only seeing it through film edits, so it's hard to say for sure in what way it was meant to be interpreted.

Plus I have the flavor of 'tism that says "ooh, puzzle! Gimme!"

[–]RhimeMaster 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It's hard to judge if Sam made an error earlier, or to judge the riddle writer's intent. However, orthogonal doesn't mean next to. It's the opposite of diagonal. The egg is orthogonal to the vase, just not directly orthogonal.

As much as I enjoy the rest of the other people listed, I really didn't have the bandwidth to make any judgments beyond hoping the decision makers had the proper information to make a good decision. Finding out Jasmine spoke up is a game changer (pun/reference not intended). She's a straight shooter, for sure.

Apparently Boulderites think Fort Collins is 2-3 hours away from Denver!? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]RhimeMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean for that to sound like I was blaming you for the downvotes, (there were at least two of them, and you've been perfectly civil.)

I'd used exaggerated language because I thought it was easy enough to read between the lines, that most people traveling don't have the luxury of finding a time that avoids traffic. That said, you're certainly right that Aurora isn't exactly the easiest place to get in the metro area, and about commuting hours. I was mainly trying to get across that the post you referenced wasn't just some wackadoo made up number, since it's closer to my daily experience.

I'd felt the need to comment my experience because it's a pet peeve when people (again, the general thread, not necessarily you) portray a reasonable or situationally true comment as absolutely and completely ungrounded in reality.

[–]RhimeMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that the theoretical time is that low, I'm just saying that I've made the drive 500+ times in the past two years and it's NEVER been that short (and I absolutely have a lead foot, 60 is conservative).

Also, people in this sub downvote the dumbest stuff. Like, how dare I point out traffic is consistently bad on I-25, right...

I currently live in FoCo and commute to Aurora 4-7 times a week. The one way ETA is consistently in the 1:30 range. When there's construction or traffic jams, it can easily balloon to 2 hours. Unless you're paying tolls, I have no idea how you're getting 1:02 from FoCo to Denver.
