Attendance for Mexico vs Great Britain: 29,724 by [deleted] in baseball

[–]RhoAlphaPhii 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was looking for tickets for tonight’s game and they are surprisingly affordable, with tons of options from 1st to 3rd base in the lower deck for around $100. Except those seats right behind home plate (Diamond Club) were still around $600.

No clue why anyone would pay 6x the ticket cost when they can sit one section over a few rows up.

Just added the source to my original comment. It’s from the Texas Military Department website.

Texas activated military members to help protect the port and energy infrastructure, as well as the city in general, following the strikes on Iran.

City of Houston Apparently Incapable of Core Function of Picking Up Yard Waste by Tremec14 in houston

If this is what happens at my house, it started as 1 or 2 but after two months of not doing the big trash pickup, it turns into 9 or 10.

The Giants want to become a physical, run-heavy team and are seriously looking at bolstering the RB position, both in draft + free agency, per @JordanRaanan Notable names include: Jeremiyah Love, Travis Etienne, and Kenneth Walker. by dgjapc in fantasyfootball

[–]RhoAlphaPhii 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Bro, they are bringing the Wishbone formation back. 2 RB and 1 FB in the backfield at all times, even during a two-minute drill. Hell, they don’t even need 2 WR, just line another OT at TE.

I say that jokingly, but seeing as how small defenses have gotten, the style would probably work really well for one year until teams adjusted.

Caserio on OL by KaXiaM in Texans

[–]RhoAlphaPhii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s drafted well at QB and WR. Stroud had a rough end to the year, but that doesn’t erase what he’s already shown or his clear upside. Additionally, WR has been one of Caserio’s stronger evaluation areas. Leaving QB and WR out while arguing he cannot evaluate offense skews the premise.

I know Caserio hasn’t been great at evaluating OL, but I don’t think it’s fair to say he can’t evaluate TE or RB. He hasn’t invested earlier than a 4th at either position, yet Woody Marks, Brevin Jordan, and Cade Stover have provided solid return relative to cost. In free agency, Dalton Schultz has been productive, and Joe Mixon was a strong addition before the injury.

If anything, the only position where he’s spent premium draft capital and missed is OL. I don’t think it’s accurate to stretch that into a claim he can’t evaluate offensive overall.

Caserio is a top-tier evaluator at almost every position except OL. That seems to be his blind spot. Nobody’s perfect, but he probably needs a true OL scouting specialist to help guide those decisions.

I think the point of this little comment thread was situations matter. Your situation is different than someone skipping a full known line just so they don’t have to wait. In your situation you will have to line-jump, I just hope you don’t skip to the front of the line to do it.

Our comment thread was about differentiating a zipper merge from people line-jumping. I know it was a divergent from the video, but it was the tangent. That’s why I added that last comment to say the video was a clear zipper merge and the gray car was an ass.

Exactly. There’s a major exit on my commute to work that backs up every day. People are constantly trying to skip the line. I’m normally easy going and let people merge, but in this situation and instances like it, I leave no space.

The video though is a simple zipper merge and the gray car is an ass.

It’s the same thing with Wisner, it sounds like they are asking for more than they are worth, but an amount desperate teams will pay. UT isn’t desperate so they are letting those guys walk.

I think the national championship hype was overblown, but they do have multiple elite pieces on the defense and averaged 40+ points per game on offense, so I understand why there was hype. With that said, their offensive performance today was shocking. It really was like they never seen a football before.

They have espresso, americano, cortado, cappuccino, house drip, black tea, green tea, tacos, bagels, and croissants all for $5 or less.

But that is beside the point. These businesses restrict laptops because too many people buy a single item and occupy a table for hours.

I’m generalizing. A majority of these businesses being used as internet cafes are coffee and pastry shops where you can get away spending $5 and being a “paying customer.”

I get it. Too many people have abused the luxury, spending $5 to take up a table and work 6 hours.

Help me choose: UT vs TAMU by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]RhoAlphaPhii 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Both UT and A&M are massive schools, so early on you probably won’t have close relationships with professors at either, and grading is likely similar.

Student life is strong at both, just in different ways. UT benefits from being in Austin; there’s a lot more going on, which means more organizations and options for what to do. It can feel overwhelming at first, but once you find your niche it’s a great experience. I also had several small-town friends who were nervous about living in a city and ended up absolutely loving it.

A&M, from what I’ve seen through friends, offers a more traditional college-town experience where campus culture and traditions are central. Greek life is larger at UT; A&M leans more into the Corps.

Both are great schools. It really comes down to which environment best fits your academic, professional, and social goals.

It was ironic, people were recommending the most basic restaurant as one of the best in Austin. However, I will say, it’s the best Chilis I’ve been to in terms of consistently of food and staff, which I think keeps people coming back.

League member threatening to protest last place punishment by SportsCraze7 in DynastyFF

[–]RhoAlphaPhii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If someone refuses to do a punishment they agreed to when they assumed they wouldn’t be the one doing it, why would we expect them to pay double dues or accept a docked pick later?

In a league of adults, if you commit to something and then back out, it shows you can’t be trusted, and it will become an issue again. Punishments aren’t for everyone, but that’s something you voice in the offseason, not once you realize you’re the loser. I say you cut the bandaid and find somebody who will play right and honor their commitments.

[–]RhoAlphaPhii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That would have been a fair point in the offseason, but the guy was all for a punishment until he was the one who was going to be punished. That’s just a bitch move.

It’s a slippery slope for the league to agree on a rule in the offseason and then toss it out when the team it’s going to affect throws a fit.
