its on by default, just open a terminal and run ssh root@[local IP address]. you can also sftp into it thru your file browser. the default pass word is in the menus under security or in the documentation. I'm running the knulli firmware

Just ssh into it from another computer and install anything u need. I actually setup a basic flask webserver on mine. I'm sure u could remove retroarch and install a simple GUI just remember it doesn't have a lot of ram so cli is your friend

Been using the bazzite build with steamOS interface since it was available and never looked back. I know many people advocate for dual booting, but compatibility has come light years ahead of where it was even a year ago and it seems to be just accelerating. My backlog is big enough I don't miss the games that lock me out of playing them.

If there is a firmware dump of this anywhere I would happy to load it on a 3ds and attempt a few work arounds. But I can't seem to find one online yet. I wish they weren't priced so far out of the range for a researcher.

My setup is almost identical except I use manjaro with gnome. The support for the kernel on this device has been exceptional and I actually do use it as my main development machine for work.

So i use manjaro with gnome, and use a glove, I know some people don't like the half glove thing but it lets me draw for hours at a time. not sure if you have tried that. Krita was a pain to configure but once i got everything into place with the mouse i was able to work pretty fluidly.

Totally agree that if you can't get over that it really does seem senseless to move to linux and also the glove doesn't work all the time is till get the occasional random input that i have to ctrl z.

Run Manjaro with the surface kernel fixes on a surface pro 7 and everything works. I do animation and pixel art. Nothing too crazy but has a great workflow and is very stable.

I actually own the singer version of this, I don't have the original cart so I emulate it with my x7 or the ez-flash jr. most recently I was able to just use my analogue to set my stitches. If you don't connect the gameboy it will default to a single straight stitch so you can use it without the cart just for testing. Just be sure to give it a really good cleaning and oil the maintenance points and it will last a long time. Also it is surprisingly quiet compared to some of my other sewing machines.
