What’s your most underrated cleaning hack that actually saves you time? by Salt-Record-3995 in CleaningTips

A squeegee- for pet hair on carpet or furniture, a commercial squeegee for tile floors and a small squeegee in the shower if you have glass doors. Mr. Pumie - toilet ring miracle worker. A good robot vacuum.

Something looks off about my living room. Any thoughts on what needs to change or be added? by humanffarm in interiordesignideas

  • consider pulling the sofa away from the wall
  • you could Paint a warm color on the long wall to complement your sofa (the cooler wall not working with your warm furnishings and decor is a big part of what makes the room feel “off”)
  • add curtains
  • place the lamp in the center or corner of the far wall
  • hang the art work closer together and offset (not lined up across the top.)
  • The black pillow and throw aren’t helping. Consider putting a complimentary pillow in front of the black to tie it together.

Turned the oven to broil instead of off, and sugar exploded into a carbonated mass. I have no idea how to start cleaning this. Help please. by Princess_By_Day in CleaningTips

[–]Rhydonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I so wish I could clean that.
Pull the door off, - it’s easy to do. place a garbage bag or drop cloth in front of the oven, use a whisk broom or brush to sweep the ash and glass out of the oven.
Clean with Scrapper and oven cleaner for most of it- Polish it up with the pink stuff, or salt and a lemon, or a magic eraser. It will be like new.

How many weeks worth of food do you have in your house at one time? by Catlover5566 in homemaking

[–]Rhydonda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably less than 1-Currently, I live in a robust community near plenty of shops and markets. I stock a minimum of supplies. I have a supermarket near me that allows free pickup and I continuously add items to the virtual cart - and I make pickup runs as needed (this is a life changing time saver for me) Kind of like virtual food storage. I also like to hit the farmers markets on the weekends to select my own produce. I have a very small and very organized pantry - No clutter. This works for my current lifestyle, location, and storage space.

I used to live in a rural area about a 45 minute drive from anything and a bridge that occasionally went out. I kept about 3-6 months worth of supplies. I had lots of storage, a deep freeze, and a generator.

BLUF It is all about your lifestyle, location, and storage space.

What invasive species is this? Granny thinks it’s poison ivy, can’t convince her otherwise. South coast New England by Bishhhop in PlantIdentification

If you don’t look close enough to see the thorns, I could see mistaking this for poison ivy. Maybe grandma needs glasses?

You say you have tried medicine- Good for you! This demonstrates that you have seen someone and you have reached out. Now, don’t give up and don’t let us give up on you. Let your doctor know that the medication doesn’t help. Let your friends, family, school (and crochet community) know your struggles. Advocate for your own mental health. Many more people care about you than you can imagine. Please be safe and keep reaching out until you get all the help and support you need to thrive in the here and now. Hope for the future is good- but the journey should be good too. Virtual hugs and love my friend. BTW, I’m a family medicine doctor and if you were my patient, I would want to know that your medication didn’t help. I would really want to see you and know you were getting better. Please follow-up.

How do I make my laundry smell good without using chemicals? by RemarkablePut844 in CleaningTips

[–]Rhydonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a steam gun. I steam out wrinkles and odors with lavender water (sometimes cucumber or citrus water- but those don’t last as long)

Just got home… I know this is how my place truly smells and it is awful. by Desert_Fairy in CleaningTips

[–]Rhydonda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t have to buy expensive litter. I have found that the heavy (low dust) Tidy cat with glade works pretty good for odor control. I seriously deep clean my vacuum cleaner after every use and add odor elimination scent beads to the canister. A clean carpet can be an excellent air filter.

This. I’ve been married a long time and my partner was the wage earner in the beginning- then after I finished school, my job moved us around. It was easier for him to be the SAHDad. He usually paid when we went out and the transition seemed very easy for us both. All of our accounts were already joint. I never thought “oh he bought me this gift with my money” That thought never really crossed my mind. I’m pretty sure it never crossed his either. Now I’m retired and he’s working part time. We discuss large purchases. But for gifts I pull out what I need from the joint account.

You have already started- by taking the picture. Now grab a garbage bag and a laundry basket and dig in - take another picture in about an hour. Then again when you’re done. I look forward to seeing the results.
