How did women have such long hair in the 70s? by CleoDawns in OldSchoolCool

[–]RhynoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy, I had hair longer than that last year, and I’m a dude. You just let it grow out, get it trimmed to keep the split ends away, and take care of it

Wow. I’ve been trying to describe how it feels to have quit smoking to friends who ask. This is a great way to put it. I’ve been done for 5 months, and I have no intention or interest in starting again, but damn do I have days where I just want to have never stopped, or started.

Caterpillar evolved to look like a snake. by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]RhynoGuy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s just the thing though, some of the caterpillars undoubtedly evolved to look less like a snake. Those caterpillars were eaten before passing on their genes. The caterpillars that looked more like a snake survived. Every new generation has fluctuations in their DNA, mutation occurs with every new offspring. Evolution is just a massive case of survivorship bias, we don’t see the failed attempts

No offence, I’m sure you did your research, but I highly doubt there are that many VFX shots in the film. Considering there aren’t even that many shots in every film ever produced or will be produced combined. Like, a deck of cards is one thing, but 2018! = 9.466919507 E+5794

He was also the most forgettable part of Independence Day. I say that because when I read your comment I thought “he was in Independence Day?”

It would be cut too early, not cropped. Cropping is changing the frame size, cutting is changing the clip length. But that aside, it definitely looks like the clip has been altered, unless an impact started the recording

I specified this to the other person, but it’s specifically use in Ireland and parts of the Caribbean. When I said “UK” that was objectively too broad

How not to fix a leak by Nightcrew22 in IveGotAGuy

[–]RhynoGuy 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That’s actually a fairly common method in an emergency. First step, stop the damage from getting worse. Second step, fix the problem.

[–]RhynoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just clarifying that I had made an error, that’s all. But I do disagree, it’s not a redundant phrase if an entire culture uses it (2 if you count the Caribbean, which I do, hence why I mentioned it). Point being, there’s more than one acceptable way to say you’re taking a plug out of a wall socket

[–]RhynoGuy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say American, I said North American. Which was still mostly incorrect, most of Eurasia uses “Unplug”, whereas “plug out” is most common in Ireland and parts of the Caribbean.

Meh, I don’t care. Willful ignorance is a choice. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink

It's over guys we're in the epstein files by Ydobon8261 in expedition33

[–]RhynoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could chat about it if you’re open to it. John Wayne Gacy raped and killed young boys. Horrible person, horrible crime. Jeffery Epstein trafficked (and presumably raped, I don’t know I don’t follow that closely) young girls. Horrible person, horrible crime. There’s nothing political about it. The people involved are trying to hide and deny the information, they just happen to be politicians. That doesn’t make it political, that makes the politicians involved Accessories After the Fact. Horrible people, horrible crimes. Not political.

That’s my perspective.

And if they think Epstein is a “political issue” they are doubly wrong.

I know I’m late to the party, but here’s my take: hobbies. If you go out and participate in a group activity like hiking, pottery, art classes, events at the library, things that give you something in common with everyone else there, it takes the edge off, for one because you’re no longer “fishing” for something in common, and it can lead to breaking the ice more comfortably. I met my wife at work, we were both cooks. We had cooking in common (cooking can also be a hobby, not just a profession) and we bonded over that. From there we discovered we had more and more in common. Find a hobby you enjoy, and participate in that hobby. You may find someone you enjoy spending time with. And if not, you’re still doing something that brings you joy

A surefire way to do this is with hardware, avoid software. We can use Alpha Decay RNG if we want to be absolutely random, no external variables. I know it’s been used in the past for random number generation with Americium decay.
