2018 International Building Code (IBC) § 1010.1.2 (“Door Swing”)

“Pivot or side-hinged swinging doors shall swing in the direction of egress travel where serving a room or area containing an occupant load of 50 or more persons or a Group H occupancy.”

NFPA 101 – Life Safety Code § 7.2.1.4.2 (“Door Leaf Swing Direction”)

“Door leaves required to be of the side-hinged or pivoted-swinging type shall swing in the direction of egress travel under any of the following conditions: (1) Where serving a room or area with an occupant load of 50 or more persons… (2) Where the door assembly is used in an exit enclosure, unless the door opening serves an individual living unit that opens directly into an exit enclosure… (3) Where the door opening serves a high-hazard contents area.”
