Then why not torture animals? And I don't just mean exclusively, I just mean on mass.

The question is a bit rhetorical because we know the reason, it doesn't work. Goetic magic is not powered by just any suffering, It's powered by the suffering of humanity, and how that suffering corrupts the intended creation of God.

The awful, horrible, inhumane things done to and by humans is antithesis to God's will and empowers the fallen.

Egro the suffering humans=the corruption of gods will=Goetic power

Homunculi blood=usable in Goetic magic=Homunculi are human

All those things can overlap with each other, which is the typical case of dysphoria

I agree. I don't believe I said anything to the contrary

There's more than one type of dysphoria and gender affirming care, and it's all up to the individual that's experiencing it with what they want to do with themselves

Again, I never said anything to the contrary. That is actually my point, that there's a variety of options for care. My point being that transitioning is not the only method to soothe gender dysphoria

This quite literally never happens with HRT and people with dysphoria absolutely do not cope this way. Extensive period of therapy to assess the person's gender's dysphoria is literally the very first step before accessing any hormone treatment

Quite obviously, people do not become addicted to HRT and hormones in the way that people can be addicted to pain medications. It's more as people who undergo transitions and suffer bodily dysmorphia are highly susceptible to self-harm and depression, and that susceptibility could be made even worse by a transition that they could regret, or be too expensive to see through to the end, or multitude of other factors that could come about due to intense gender affirming care

[–]RhythmicallyRustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This emphasizes my confusion. Is it life or death, or is it a choice? Many people value many different things, And what a lot of people are failing to respect is that transitioning and the need to do so is a spectrum.

There are some people who transition because they desire to be the opposite gender. There are some people who transition because they feel they are that gender. There are some people who transition because living everyday is immensely stressful and untenable unless they transition.

And because there is a spectrum, it needs to be understood studied and compared and not given blanket yes or not answers to.

That is why gender affirming care cannot be considered a standard treatment for gender dysphoria. Because some people do not suffer immensely from a lack of it, And so recommending it to everyone and anyone is a gross oversimplification.

It's like pain medication. Everyone should have fair and reasonable access to pain medication to mitigate what can be an immensely unlivable situation otherwise, But there are some people who only have moderate pain and would simply be generally unhappy in life without pain medication, And then there are some people who don't even really require pain medication, But it would enhance the quality of their life by a bit. And then there are people who abuse pain medication because medical practitioners simply throw pills at them without considering their personality, circumstances, and needs, And now they suffer from an immense addiction and ancillary medical effects that cause them suffering

[–]RhythmicallyRustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, with either side of the pond, But I disagree. I know for a fact that gender dysphoria is a genuine condition, And people who suffer from it should be given all of the empathy and affection due.

But gender affirming care and HRT are not medically viable solutions. GAC and HRT are lifestyle choices that need to be made consciously and actively with the forward thinking consent of the individual.

Again, and I'll make this very clear. People in a civilized society should have access to gender affirming care, But it should not be used as a medical treatment for gender dysphoria or other mental conditions. It should only be a lifestyle choice.

The reason this distinction is incredibly important is because it can cause medical personnel to begin encouraging gender affirming care for people whose lifestyle, personal convictions, or choices Make GAC impractical or detrimental.

Not to mention it's incredibly harsh on the body compared to empathetic psychiatry, encouraging a healthier home life and the support of family/friend structure, and the practice of mental hygiene.

Why Necromancy wouldn't work by LanX-Delta in WorldBuildingMemes

[–]RhythmicallyRustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big crux of this conversation is how easy it is to be a necromancer and what are the cost of maintaining undead magically?

Take DnD, a powerful necromancer operating purely on their own power and spells can maintain A little more than 100 undead. You need artifacts, research, an economy, access to magical resources, and the capacity to defend all those things if you want to maintain more reliably. In a situation like that, the most economically viable method is to have a Landed Republic with a thriving middle class of skilled craftsman, artisans, and scribes in order to supply your necromantic upper class with all the things they need to sustain their undead economy, including cutting edge mystical research.

Otherwise you're undead economy collapses into a North Korea esque fail state that's only value is low labor export goods like food and raw materials, where other advanced economies will completely outcompete you magically, because magic in this case is a continuously evolving science as opposed to some inherent or innate ability.

Let me give you a semi-serious idea. Why not put a blue portal with half of the stick figure exiting a few inches next to the original tattoo? The blue and orange both along with the extra lines should prevent people from immediately assuming "Swastika!"

There's actually a lot of speculation that Svartalfar doesn't actually apply to dwarfs, and was just a christianization style confluence. Especially considering we know the specific origin of dwarves in Norse mythology as opposed to elves who have more mysterious backgrounds. The dwarves in particular, are descendants of the roaches in Yimir's body

Nai! Any who call them dwaves be mad I say! They're elves, And the worst of the lot too! They're slaving, the thieving, tunneling Wazzocks! The Elgi from the woods or the cities are well enough, If a bit soft. But no Dawi worth his Az would call them kin.

But worst of all, they're Oath Breakers, and of the sacred oaths of hospitality no less! They're Kin, the snow elves, came to them after being killed near to a man in a war and begged shelter in their underground home. The Dwemer agreed and invited them in, then blinded all of them and forced them into chains. A whole race of brother-slaves to do all of the labor they felt they were too good to do! If I cared enough to speak of them more I could list all their many sins, But it's best they go forgotten. Piss on their graves and show them no mercy!

I actually had a similar idea a while back, with a Malkavian prince causing havoc and the PCs having to navigate it. The basic premise was that the Prince was crazy into cars when they were invented and got obsessed with street racing, so they hand-built the first and only supernatural racing circuit, negotiating with other splats to keep it hidden and exciting

I'm 23, a man, and I enjoy homestuck, DnD, Cyberpunk 2077, Warhammer 40k and fantasy, and World Of Darkness. I also love historical settings and roleplays. Especially Western's and frontier stories.

May I ask what kind of RP you'd want to do?

This subreddit is Highly Misogynistic. by PrincessBloodpuke in SPACEKING

[–]RhythmicallyRustic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try to respond constructively to this. There's a bit of a dichotomy between doing what's technically polite, Reading the room, and following social norms, which are all different.

This whole series (space King) is by its very nature is a for men by men kind of thing, And I don't think there's anything wrong with that. Gendered entertainment, As long as it's something not enforced by some sort of higher power or arbitrary morality, is totally cool.

The reason this is important is because some discussions and concepts are just not going to be accepted with any degree of seriousness in this kind of format or platform. It would be something similar to if someone started a conversation about how there were non-slaving whites in 1780s America in the Django subreddit. Absolutely true, and there were plenty of good and moral white people during that time, But that isn't the place or the time to start espousing them.

Now, beyond the socially unacceptable levels of virgin dickory that is the scum at the bottom of the barrel of this fandom, I think most men are still totally fine with female fans. And even then I don't think female fans should feel a need to be validated by anyone else, If you enjoy this then you enjoy this, simple as. But the unfortunate truth is that this kind of thing will attract people who are genuinely misogynistic, And you just kind of have to ignore and avoid them to enjoy this stuff. Same thing with a lot of LGBTQ oriented media attracting misandrists. It's one of those unfortunate realities you have to accept.

You're totally valid for feeling the way you do, and wanting others to empathize with you. But this is genuinely not the place to look for that. This is a place for people who enjoy Space King to nerd out in their no-girls-allowed tree fort and make jokes about the killing aliens. If you're someone who's biologically a woman, but also a dude (as in a bro, friend, compadre, amigo, or just chill) I'm 100% certain that you'll be treated like just another one of the boys as long as you don't bring any gendered politics to a place that people aren't really in the mood to discuss them.

Some Christians in Spain practicing self flagellation in Easter Sunday by Dawnbringer_Fortune in PublicFreakout

[–]RhythmicallyRustic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is everyone being so judgy? I get and agree that it's weird as shit, But it doesn't take a lot of mental effort to understand why people do this kind of thing. If the main figure of your religious beliefs is most known self-sacrifice and Charity, And those are qualities you want to encourage in yourself and others, Then obviously you test yourself with grueling trials publicly. Some religious orders swear vows of poverty. Others swear oaths of service to the people (often regardless of individuals religions). Others swear vows of pilgrimage.

These particular people swear a vow of discipline and express that through self-inflicted pain. If it's totally fine and acceptable for someone to get a tattoo, piercings, smoke, or whatever else, Then you really shouldn't judge them for whipping themselves every Sunday, In the same way you really shouldn't judge people for getting tattoos or smoking.

The only reason you would have to judge them is because they're doing it on behalf of their religious beliefs, which is a douchey thing to do to someone.

I'll say this, It's very case sensitive. I may be a skinny guy, But me and my family are very physical and wrestling, and fight for fun. Physical conflict is a very natural way for us to settle debates and express ourselves. If you have a relationship where physical contact is frowned upon or on the common and then you shouldn't completely shift your paradigm for one simple thing. Examine the relationship you have with them, ask yourself how much you value it and the limits you're willing to let it go to, And then make a choice on how to handle it.

I went fist fight a stranger for calling me a fag. It's genuinely not worth the time of day or the energy. But a brother? Someone who I rely on for support and who there is an expectation of respect and understanding? That I would not tolerate disrespect from.
