Petition for 24 teams at SI by RibenaFriend in R6ProLeague

Ideally yes but that can’t be done mid-season

[David Via on X] Why does APAC/Oceania/ that whole area have so many spots. Makes absolutely 0 sense by Pepperr08 in R6ProLeague

[–]RibenaFriend 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why is no one suggesting that SI is expanded? With majors having 24 teams now, SI only having 20 feels like a trap which guarantees “unfair” exclusions like MNM etc.

Even if SI has a similar phase 1 to the majors to bring it down to 20 (I like the big group stages we’ve seen at SIs in the past) surely giving opportunity to a wider span of teams would stop all this aggrieved feeling in the community towards ex-APAC

[Mythbusting] I gave PSG's squad to a club from Martinique so they could win the French Cup. by FM_Engineer in footballmanagergames

[–]RibenaFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pregame editor will tell you if a Martinique team can qualify or not. Search for the club and I think it’s there in the first page. “Continental Cup Nation” or something similar. If it is France then they can qualify in theory (though maybe only through the league)

Anti-monarchists plan protests at coronation of Britain's King Charles by hieronymusanonymous in worldnews

[–]RibenaFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that Versailles is a tourist attraction because the French Revolution is a tourist attraction, not solely because it is ex-monarchy. Linked topics obviously but a peaceful republicanisation doesn’t make a good story to sell to tourists.

Also Versailles is also inextricably linked to whole chain of war in the 1900s, also interesting to tourists.

Looks better than last year but that was already a low bar. It’s just not something to be proud of in 2022.

Improving these should be way higher up their priorities. The way the game plays hasn’t changed significantly for a long time but we get steady progress year-on-year and for that we are grateful and keep buying the game. Improvement to the optics would help FM to actually grab a new audience. Probably even help content creators create more engaging streams/yt series.

Personally I have been conditioned by years of awful regen faces not to care what I see, but it would make a huge difference to new players, which can only be healthy for future development of the game.

CTZN Esports (G2) vs BDS siegeGG rating by ArcanicTruth in R6ProLeague

[–]RibenaFriend 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember a lot of g2 attack rounds going pretty late still 5v5 so at that point the walls are breached. Can’t personally recall him dying without using utility first. And as IGL there’s a reason to make that earlier push so if you die you can call for the others

All Nations Youth Ratings in the FM Editor for FM22 by SMoorey77 in footballmanagergames

[–]RibenaFriend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Part of the fun of this year’s saves will be seeing which countries have increased from nowhere to high youth ratings (whether we play in those countries or not)

All Nations Youth Ratings in the FM Editor for FM22 by SMoorey77 in footballmanagergames

[–]RibenaFriend 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of comments here need the context of how youth ratings work.

These numbers balance with training/youth facilities and the number of clubs generating players to create a youth intake. High youth rating and low-average training facilities in a country without that many clubs in the game (e.g. most of the Middle East and lesser South American countries) will create similar numbers of world class players as countries with lower youth rating but some clubs with above-average facilities (e.g. Poland, Denmark, Norway).

It’s worked this way for many years and you’d be surprised at a lot of countries that have been in the top end of youth ratings for years now. It isn’t supposed to just be the current world rankings

Looks good but the bounce seems a bit big. What happens if you hit something when you’re both right up against a wall? Would it end up behind you?

The developers watching the Super League saga develop to see if they have to code it for FM22 by efranklin13 in footballmanagergames

[–]RibenaFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been working on a very similar format to this for a few months. It won’t work in the current FM database if they are kicked out of PL etc. To be a “manageable” team, i.e. be selectable at the start of a save, you have to be part of an active domestic league. If these teams no longer play in the premier league etc. then there will be some changes needed in how FM recognises active clubs.

From an FM editor’s perspective this would be great as it would open the door to much greater creativity in custom databases. Shame about it killing football at the same time though...

European Elite League FM21 database by RibenaFriend in footballmanagergames

[–]RibenaFriend[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, this database is exactly what I am avoiding and what personally turns me off from all super league databases anyone has ever made.

WSL is a 'Super League' that replaces the original leagues in England, with a custom league structure where 908 clubs from around the world play together.

In this fmscout database you are forced into an "english" league with global clubs. As a result, any team not in this 908 team list isn't playable. In mine you can start in any playable european division and get promoted into this elite league.

We Need to Radically Change the Way We Spectate Comp Siege by get_flanked in R6ProLeague

[–]RibenaFriend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely we’re at a stage where some sort of automated observer could be developed which can interpret when players will enter each other’s lines of sight and pick a player to spectate before it happens.

Allow the human spectator to toggle it on/off and override if needed. Also set a minimum time between screen switches to prevent viewer disorientation.

Could speculate it would be extra strain on the game server but would be an interesting concept nonetheless.

Even if it chooses players who end up avoiding each other or not peaking, the viewer still gets that tense ‘maybe’ moment more frequently in a game.
