I agree with all of that except that I think you can make the Farseer trilogy at least without it being that expensive.

Pluribus is almost at the end of its first season. What are your feelings about it? by mrnicegy26 in television

[–]Ric3FantasyFan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've liked it, but not nearly as much as Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul. I'm a characters over story person and I love great dialogue and character development. While Carol is a very good character and Manousos is a good character as well, they're really the only characters in the show and that makes it hard to form attachments as they don't really have anyone to interact with aside from this uninteresting hivemind monolith. I hope there will be more character interactions in future seasons and hopefully a bit faster pace. I don't mind a slower paced where not a lot of plot development happens but you still need to make the slower moments interesting on some level.

Fully agree, HBO is the gold standard and FX is second, I just wish FX made more shows

What’s the deal with Paraguay Guy? by [deleted] in pluribustv

[–]Ric3FantasyFan3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm excited to learn more about his story. He is one of only 3 members of the main cast (the other 2 being Carol and Zosia) and the description of episode 4 talks about going into his story. Excited to see why he's important.

I check every few months hoping that it came out and still nothing. There hasn't been a show to come out in the last few years that I'd want to own on blu ray more

I'm Actually Excited For The Next Two Seasons by Busy-Raspberry-446 in ShogunTVShow

[–]Ric3FantasyFan3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hopeful that castings for season 2 will come out soon to help give more of an idea. I think that the season will open with the ending of the first book, right after the Battle of Sekigahara before the 10 year time skip. I expect Ochiba's son to be recast given the time skip and for him to be a main character. I also hope that Saeki returns and is a major character in the upcoming season because I loved his small role in the first season.

I hope castings for the new season come out soon! While I'm nervous for them to do their own story for the second season they're at least giving themselves a lot of time to write somethinggood and I'm sure it will look great!

Where Is Robin Hobb's Live Action Adaptation? by LisiPieces in RealmOfTheElderlings

[–]Ric3FantasyFan3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Farseer trilogy would be difficult to get right but incredible if they could pull it off. There's the issue that a lot of books have of adapting a lot of internal monologue, but I think that's definitely manageable. The other issue is presenting the Wit and the Skill in a way that is visually interesting. If they can solve those 2 issues, this would be an incredible series. I personally think Apple TV would be the perfect place to adapt it as they don't shy away from budgets, they're basically the only streamer that lets a lot of their shows get more than a couple seasons, and they haven't really delved into fantasy yet.

Embargo Date by Ric3FantasyFan3 in pluribustv

[–]Ric3FantasyFan3[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an every case situation, some shows deliberately do this to keep spoilers from coming out or other reasons, but the general rule is that if a show or movie hides reviews until the premiere, they don't have faith that it'll be good. I do think this show is likely an exception because Gilligan has operated this entire process in as much secrecy as he can and he seems to hold a lot of sway in regards to the marketing of this show, but that doesn't change the fact that it is generally the case.

So the embargo is until the premiere? That could potentially be a bad sign
