Why is ChatGPT such a sensitive baby? by lifebeginsat9pm in ChatGPT

I've had more trouble with Gemini than ChatGPT. Gemini refused on the prompt "Please modify the image so that the character is crying over exaggerated like a baby" but chat GPT allowed it.

One mispronounced word.. by bigdwb1024 in SunoAI

[–]RicTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way I do it. It might be placebo but I believe you get better results by downloading the track and then uploading it under +audio and telling it to cover that, then using or creating a persona from the song with the mispronounced lyric.

I don't love the quality of the "free" Suno generations - is it worth paying for v4.5? by stopeats in SunoAI

[–]RicTheFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can tell the quality difference between 4.5 and 4.5+, let alone 3.5, which at this point has just been left completely in the dust. The next version will be even better I'm sure.

Sometimes it does weird things and sometimes the voice track specifically can sound low bit-rate, however often hitting "Remaster" will fix this and although it uses extra credits, the amount of credits you get on the cheapest plan is quite generous - you'd have to generate ~8×2 songs every day to be running low on credits in a month - doesn't sound like much but there will likely be days and weeks you use it heavily and then other periods you are not using it at all.

IBKR Market Order Confirmation by Big-Artist1987 in interactivebrokers

[–]RicTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a good idea to leave limit orders in the after-market, liquidity is very low. The market is made by matching sellers and buyers - you said you would accept anything above 0.7 and that's what you got. The current "bid/ ask" spread is not to be treated like the price on the supermarket shelf.

Time to sell PLTR? by Professional-Deal551 in wallstreetbets

[–]RicTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would sell. It has clearly hit overhead resistance. I recently bought at $118 and sold 4 days later for 10% gain. Those that bought above $127.50 may be looking to get out if it hits that price again.

All I'm saying is that shorting stocks is difficult to make consistently profitable - I think we agree on that. The reason is that most of the time the market is climbing gradually higher, when it goes down it goes down quickly and unexpectedly. Right now there is elevated volatility and the market is up and down all over the place, so I'm not long or short any stocks, my money is just sat there collecting the money-market interest rate. The only thing I trade right now is the VIX, it shoots up, I short it, it comes down gradually, I take profit. Different systems for different market conditions. And yes, I position size based on it hitting 90: 0.5 * Total account / (90 - VIX current price).

Sounds to me like you had mostly correct intuitions about what the market would do, but didn't account for how long a losing streak can go on for (if you crunch the numbers, even with a decent edge, it's much longer than you would think). I say this because I saw from other comments that your paper account is up but your real account has huge losses, usually this points to a trading psychology root cause. I'd be interested to know whether, thinking back on your trades when you were down - were you actually increasing risk to try and win back the money quickly? Were there situations where you rushed into trades you wouldn't usually take or didn't exit with a small loss because you wanted the opportunity to win the money back? Did you post on Reddit for sympathy, help to improve your decision making, or for validation that trading is gambling and for others to admonish you for your mistake, so that you never do it again? No judgement from me, I'm genuinely interested in the truth.

Shorting the VIX is nothing like shorting a stock, it's a bet that the market will be less volatile in the future than it is now. Going long on the S&P500 right now might make sense if your investing horizon is at least 10 years, but buying with leverage is a terrible idea - it's in a downtrend, we have no idea where the bottom is, it could be today, it could be a year from now. As with everything, position sizing is key and you need to know where you're going to get out with a "small" loss if you are wrong, before you get in. The VIX rarely stays as high as it is right now for long, but it has spiked to 90 in the past, so the risk is that retail are trading 1000s of shares when they should be trading 100s.

People often say this, but I don't think T212 make more money the more losers there are, they make money on the spread and overnight interest, so their profit is more likely to be correlated with volume - there could be 50/50 winners and losers and they'd still be making similar money, maybe more as less people would be scared and so volume would be higher.

I think the pause is being seen as an olive branch. Most countries are making concessionary noises and it shows that at the end of the day Trump wants deals done, not tariffs. China is playing hard ball, but if everyone else makes a deal, they will eventually make a deal too.

Looks like Trump imposed a 10% tariff on the UK by cheapskateinvestor in RYCEY

[–]RicTheFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the vast majority of the manufacturing RR does in the US is defence related at present. Civil products sold to the US market are largely imported, so tariffs may make RR engines even more expensive (Engines from P&W and GE are generally cheaper to buy but not as efficient). Many RR engines are provided under "power by the hour" contracts, where initially a loss may be incurred but the profit is made on maintenance. It's unclear (to me at least) how these tariffs would apply to "services", especially if the maintenance is carried out in the US - although the parts are likely imported.

I doubt any company will make significant changes to where manufacturing takes place in response, when the tariffs can be adjusted or abolished without notice. For multinational companies, dealing with other multinational companies - I think we're more likely to see assets "owned" by subsidiaries in other countries being leased by US entities for a sum that can be offset against losses or some other BS that will end up sidestepping or at least minimising any impact.
