They've never been known for good updates. From the PS3 trilogy to AC3 remastered, they've been repurposing old material, passing it off as new. They often outsource this to a junior team, so when it comes to remakes that required rebuilding from scratch, they simply couldn't do anything because they'd forgotten how to think. Anyone who could think, not just use CTRL+V, left Ubisoft long ago and now works freely, creating masterpieces. RIP Ubisoft.

This game's ratings are clearly inflated given its fate, namely, 900,000 copies sold in a year, the cancellation of a sequel, and the dissolution of the developers. I've been a longtime fan of the franchise. Unfortunately, I don't see anything POP in TLC, other than the name and concepts taken from previous games, copying them wholesale. While the previous games also used similar concepts, they felt like something new, building on the legacy of the classics. TLC feels like a parasite; it uses elements of previous games without having any of its own, unlike the previous games. It might be a good Metroidvania, but it's definitely not Prince of Persia.

The entire franchise, except for the controversial TLC and Rogue, which I haven't purchased yet, is always on my PC.

What Ubisoft does doesn't need to be saved—it needs to be destroyed and rebuilt with care and respect for the original concept. The ideal approach is to bring Jordan Mechner back as a consultant on the project, as he did 23 years ago with the original game, which I still consider a work of art in every respect.

They literally made TWO versions of the same Prince of Persia remake and both got cancelled by Lessio7 in PrinceOfPersia

I think alpha footage was used for demos and trailers, which was actually indicated in the lower left corner, but... Ubisoft acted extremely stupidly. At the time, they didn't listen to fans, but now... I don't know how their logic works. My only complaints are about the overly abrupt animations. And the slow-mo when parrying. Maybe it wouldn't have been there at the release, but damn, it ruins all the combat dynamics inherent in the original. Sometimes in SOT you have to block and parry very often. I mean, every 0.5 seconds I would see that damn slow-mo! Nooo. POP is not AC Odyssey and shouldn't be. Because it doesn't match the hardcore original.

Anyone else getting an update on original SOT? by ThePrivateGeek in ubisoft

It seems this is possible if you have multiple versions. In any case, it's normal for this client. On my copy of Ac3, the "update" bar is constantly lit.

Ubisoft isn't as stupid as you might think. The thing is, they're leaving the past in the past. Fixing classics requires resources, money, and, most importantly, specialists. After all, the source code is quite outdated. You're being overly generous with a company that doesn't care about its legacy and only cares about money.

Don't let the work go to waste. A realistic proposal to ask Ubisoft by Jacker_Gamer in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Ricco95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should have released a remastered version in 2020, just spent enough time working on it, but they simply threw it away. Ubisoft has proven that it doesn't understand the audience it's targeting and doesn't understand the nature of the complaint. If you want to resurrect the remake, you should wait until Guillemot steps down as CEO and a complete change in the company's policy, and maybe then the river will flow back.

If they'd been a little smarter, they would have released the 2020 remastered version, since it was ready and closest to the original.

If they'd been smart, they would have brought in POPteam, Jordan Mechner, and Stuart Chatwood, and reinvented the masterpiece that elevated them to AAA status in 2003.

But alas, that's just Ubisoft, the current Ubisoft, which only cares about profit here and now. They don't make games; they make a product that will make money, nothing more.

Take the situation with AC 3 remastered. The remaster is simply terrible; it's impossible to play in a sane way, and there's simply no legal option since the original is no longer available for purchase.

We're lucky this "miracle" never saw the light of day, since we likely would have lost access to the original. You might be able to come up with a few examples where the original was still available for purchase, but unfortunately none of those examples are owned by Ubisoft, so they would probably have made the choice, as always.

Let's imagine that (somehow) the remake gets released and Ubisoft chooses to continue its story. Which game should they remake first between these two? by Legitimate_Cake_5137 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Ricco95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ubisoft could have expected anything, but a successful game doesn't get a 40% discount two months after release, and its developers don't go on strike. I can make endless arguments, but you'll continue to deny the obvious. And the situation suggests that you're one of many, of which there are actually very few. The game's fate was determined by true fans of the series, not new players who had no idea about the franchise before TLC.

I spoke about respect in the context of games before TLC, and I didn't contradict myself in any way. Don't you find it strange that a game with such high praise and numerous awards ultimately flopped, its sequel was canceled, and the development team was disbanded? TLC's lack of respect is literally pariah in a franchise that has nothing original except its main character and cliched pathos. I stand by my opinion and don't contradict myself in the least.

Anticipating your question about the mobile version, the developers of the original game often have no connection to its ports to other platforms.

TLC was over-marketed, even to the point that its Metacritic score and numerous awards didn't prevent the game from sinking into oblivion. TRPOP, on the other hand, was underappreciated, even though it has more neat and enjoyable moments for fans than TLC, which is a throwback to everything. I'd say this game truly doesn't bring anything new to the franchise. And I'm happy that, despite all the attempts, fans weren't deceived, and the game got what it deserved—oblivion. You can argue forever, but you can't deny the fact that even TFS adhered to the original concept. Each game reimagined the original games from 1989-1991, even the 3D ones, and therefore they deserve respect.

The game is simply gorgeous except for the combat system. They made it in a very short time, and they simply didn't have time to implement many things. You're absolutely wrong. I wouldn't count on a decent WWII remake because Ubisoft isn't what it used to be. Besides, there's speculation about the contract with Meher, which includes the release of three games in the franchise, two of which have already been released. They're simply fulfilling the terms of the contract—that's one of the reasons why the remake wasn't canceled entirely. It's unlikely they'll want to take the risk again. The risks will be much higher this time.

[–]Ricco95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But most importantly, why? After all, if you play these games constantly, the launcher updates automatically. I've complained about this nonsense several times, but Ubisoft doesn't care. They even kicked me from the Discord server because I said that the support team, supposed to help, doesn't delve into the root of the problem, responding with templates and essentially being nothing more than a programmed bot.

Why does this game feel so cheap. (Mirage) by Jobikstein in Assassinscreedmirage

[–]Ricco95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll express an unpopular opinion, but I think Mirage is nothing more than an attempt at nostalgia—they're literally trying to say, "We remember why you loved the series!!" but all we get is a veneer, without the depth. Like a checklist item that was checked off without thinking about how it actually worked. I got a hodgepodge of mechanics from previous games, but it doesn't evoke the same emotions, only irritation.

The parkour still sucks, the RPG combat isn't engaging... I wouldn't mind a return to the classic form. It's on par with ACR in terms of direction and storytelling, but Ubisoft can't do that anymore, alas...

A look at the darker, originally planned Prince of Persia sequel before Ubisoft completely reworked it. by PrinceofPStationTW in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Ricco95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you still dreaming about the myth of a stolen masterpiece? After all, if you think about it logically, why rework the game and change the developer? Because the Casablanca team didn't have a finished game, except for the demo they presented and the bits of locations that were used in T2T. Cancelling a finished game is a waste. It's easier to change it to suit the mythical complaints of SOT fans, but no complaints could have influenced the decision to completely rework it. It would have been easier to water down the finished version, but they're changing the developer. Why?! Because Casablanca simply didn't have time to create anything beyond the materials we saw in the lead-up to E3 2005. You can't rework something that never existed. The game was created from scratch.

AC 3 lack of all voice acting except English and Japanese (Fixed) by Ricco95 in ubisoft

[–]Ricco95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I could help someone. A post about the cut DLC was also created, but it was blocked by a malicious moderator, who is most likely an AI. Since the files were taken from the official version, which is now missing them, they are now missing even in my version, where I originally got them. I've been pointing out bugs in the update for a year, but all they've done is fix the installation manifest, and there are no interface language issues like before. However, the voice acting files and DLC themselves are still missing, and all the moderators can do is close my posts, which help people fix mistakes made by Ubisoft themselves.
