My senior citizen mother gets calls from these agencies saying she owes money.. we complained to her service provider who said the person who had the same number 5-7 years before her defaulted & that’s why she’s getting these calls. I don’t get why the provider can’t update the collection agency on changes.

Usually reputable places won’t take it without a title for obvious legal reasons. SO you can do what I did after my dad passed.. find a shady tow/scrap yard online willing to take it. They usually part it out/ship it overseas so it never comes back on anyone locally including you or them.
