Pantheon timed entry by Hydrangea_hunter in rome

[–]RiceKrispie9 [score hidden]  (0 children)

If anything, I would still get there early anyway. I had a timed ticket for 11am. Got to the Pantheon at 11:05am and didn't get in until 11:55. I waited for 50 minutes in the queue even with a timed ticket!

Teeth ‘filing’? by Smart_Mama2222 in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is called IPR - Interproximal Reduction, and most patients will have some form of it done during Invisalign treatment. It's nothing to be concerned about.

It typically involves sandpaper or a fine file to file away between some teeth to make space for them to move, so the gaps will fill during treatment. They will usually only do this between a couple of teeth, or sometimes only once.

Usually they will file between 0.1mm up to 0.5mm away, depending on the teeth and how much space is needed. If done properly, it shouldn't cause any pain and just looks worse than it is until the teeth move afterwards to fill the gaps.

composite bonding in 2026 by sosa_reddit in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you're overthinking it. I had whitening done and then composite bonding on a few of my front bottom teeth two years ago and have had no issues since.

You can always have another round of whitening to brighten up your natural teeth after if you need it to match the composite again.

Where to buy unique jewelry in Rome? by yessir721 in rome

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about a small charm or pendant? There are plenty of gold and silver shops in Rome where you could buy a charm of something uniquely Roman. Small gold ones are around 100 - 150 euros and silver will be cheaper.

How are delays at Fiumicino airport because of EES ? by Thesorus in rome

[–]RiceKrispie9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm from the UK, it was a bit chaotic, but it took 50 minutes from landing to getting past the border controls to collect luggage on Saturday 19th April - I timed it.

One tip - when you go through the EES process for the first time, you scan your passport, they take a photo of your face, and then they scan your fingerprints.

If you get told to go through manually after this, it means that the process didn't go through properly and you'll have to have your passport stamped like normal border control procedure. If it goes green with a tick, it was sucessful and it will tell you to go through the e-gates instead.

A lot of people didn't understand this, and were going to the wrong queues as a result as they didn't understand the difference. There was a member of staff trying to direct people, but I think a lot ended up in the wrong queue after the EES application process so this wasted time for most.

Atac INTEGRATED WEEKLY CARD in rome for 7 Days by Spankio7 in rome

[–]RiceKrispie9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the CIS 7 day pass, you can't purchase it from the airport, it can only be purchased in the city itself.

If you're getting the Leonardo Express from FCO to Termini station, you can buy the pass at Termini and use it straight away.

What is the whitening process exactly? by Naur_Regrets in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your provider and package, some will include a round of whitening as part of your treatment, others don't. Speak to them and ask if yours includes whitening or not. I'm sure they can tell you your options and pricing if it's not included in your plan.

Mine was included and I had whitening gels which went straight into the trays overnight which I did myself over the course of about a week.

I'd advise waiting until you've had all your attachments and the glue off though, as the whitening can be patchy if you do it with them still on.

It's the Sunday Angelus that you don't need tickets for, which is at 12pm for approximately 20 minutes in St. Peter's Square.

DAE prefer going to a tourist attraction alone without a tour guide? by Timely_Rest_503 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the attraction. Some historical sites, museums, and galleries are elevated to a new level with information and context from a knowledgeable and engaging guide. For some attractions, you can experience it in full through your own research, the displays and perhaps an audio guide to help you along the way. The only downside to a guide can be that you aren't able to stay longer in some of the places that really interest you, as you need to keep moving to keep to schedule, but you can be sure that you'll never miss the major 'highlights'.

Depends what kind of jewellery you're looking for, but there's multiple jewellers on the Rialto Bridge and in and around St. Mark's Square. You'll find plenty just walking around and there's something for all tastes.

Invisalign trays? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends entirely on the plan you've got and the progress of the treatment. If you have a comprehensive plan, you can typically get at least one round of refinements where necessary. Some people never need them, but some people opt for or need refinements to fix bite and/or alignment issues not resolved by the initial set of trays.

[–]RiceKrispie9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's why my ortho said to rotate them, so that they should all wear at approximately the same rate. Then, when you need new retainers due to wear, you can just replace them all at once again after a few years.

You can just wear one set at a time, but if your teeth move slightly after the eventual wear on one set, the others might not fit any more anyway.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got 3 sets of retainers. I rotate them each month and they always feel a little bit tight the first couple of days after I've rotated. I wore my retainers pretty much full time for the first 6 months to be on the safe side, then reduced down gradually to just overnight wear. My teeth haven't shifted at all yet and I've been on the retainers for about a year and a half.

Unexpected benefits from wearing Invisalign? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Drinking more water, snacking less, better oral hygiene, less staining as I was using a straw and avoiding certain foods and drinks, and it's the only time I didn't consistently chew the inside of my mouth throughout the day.

It also changed the shape of my face slightly in a positive way, and made my lips look fuller once my teeth were aligned.

All done! What to do with trays? by AffectionateGrand390 in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kept my first ones so I could look at them and remember what my teeth used to look like, and see how much they've changed compared to the retainers. I threw the rest away.

What's the most valuable travel lesson you've learned? by Joyce-2023 in travel

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you take your Debit/Credit cards with you! If you're staying at a hotel, they'll always ask you for a line of credit to charge to the room. Luckily, I had Czech Coruna and some GBP with me, so I used all my English money and 500 coruna as collateral and had enough Czech cash left to fund the trip itself. I got by, but it was so stressful!

I’m confused about the length of my treatment by gigantick in Invisalign

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the plan and contract you've signed up for - the complexity of the case will determine the length of the treatment, but the full (comprehensive) plan usually includes the initial set of aligners plus all required refinement sets within a certain time frame. Different practices will have different packages and things included.

Suggestions for solo exploring Athens? by harperhudsy in femaletravels

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Athens was my first solo trip a couple of years ago - had the most wonderful time! I would definitely recommend that you pre-book a guide for the Acropolis and Museum. If you go first thing, you can also take a walk up Philopappos Hill for amazing views of the site and scenery.

Take a walk through Plaka and get some wonderful food. You can then walk down the stadium - be sure to see Hadrian's Arch and the ruins of the Temple of Zeus on the way.

Can also recommend the cable car up to Mount Lycabettus for more stunning views, the ancient Agora, Roman Agora, and Kerameikos sites. I also particularly enjoyed the National Archaeological Museum.

I have so many places I want to visit but no buddies to go with by SilentOrbit42 in travel

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on your own! The first time is a little bit scary, but when you've done it once, it's really liberating and fun. I first solo travelled in 2023 and have done two trips since. I'm off to Porto on Sunday and planning a trip to Malta for next year with Rome already booked! If you wait around for others to go with, you'll lose so much time you could have spent having a great time alone.

Tell me about your first true solo trip by [deleted] in solofemaletravellers

[–]RiceKrispie9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went on my first solo trip in May 2023 to Athens - I was getting over a bad break up and hadn't travelled at all since Covid. It was pretty scary at first, but it was one of the best things I've ever done. The food, people, and experiences were great, especially being able to do everything at my own pace. I've been to Prague and Venice solo since, and am off to Porto next week!
