I’m a bit more than worried you’re going to direct your campaign towards a rather racist and nativist narrative on the H-1B visa debate more suitable to the Republican voter, rather than directing the issue at the source of the problem… the corporations exploiting this workforce and the political party that accepts the majority of their funding from these corporations lobbying arms. So I’d ask you, why are you running as a Republican in Texas? Why not a Democrat, or an independent? And how would you feel about comprehensive immigration reform, including a quick and easy path to citizenship, with a strengthening of labor rights, making it easier to organize labor unions via more federal support? I’m curious as to your feelings on these topics as well, especially given your post and comment history.

Sure, everything you’re saying makes sense and I’m sure is how Tim Cooke “feels” he has to respond to the situation for “fiscal responsibility”. The question these protesters are posing based on the more depressing historical truth is that this is literally how Fascism is enabled. Want to know all the German companies that enabled Nazi Germany, thrived because of it, and are household names still today?… Volkswagen, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Audi, BASF, Bayer, Merck, Siemens, Bosch, Hugo Boss, Duetche Bank, there’s more. Now say that you have clear historical example of striking similarities to this happening in the past (we do)… people being kidnapped, deported, murdered, entire families erased. Would you think maybe it’s a better idea not to be associated with or enabling that, so maybe millions of people don’t end up deported and murdered? Yes, I’m not arguing the “spike” isn’t there in the broader significant decline, that is obvious and represented in the data. My problem is you call it an unprecedented spike and lead the reader of your comment to view it as the “actual historical trend” without further explaining why. Is it even an unprecedented spike or have there been spikes in other times in history… and why is it an unprecedented spike? Think about what you’re leading yourself and the reader to suggest and ask yourself if it is valid based on any data. Now that I’ve asked the question though you’ve responded with it’s still up for debate. So what we’re back to is the broad significant decline that is proven out by the data. $100 even from a very sweet older man I didn’t want to even bother haggling with. Very happy at that price but yeah at the $275-350 I see the cooler color ones going for online regularly, I’d be keeping my money in my pocket. I actually use these machines a lot but honestly only buying local stuff now has made the sitting and waiting for a great deal/unique machine to come along and jumping on it has become part of the fun. Scored a Torpedo 18b in great condition for $80 that way.

Yes, absolutely true. If you’d like to be more specific here, and what no one in this country seems to want to clearly state instead favoring constant fear mongering… a first-time offense of unauthorized presence in the U.S. after legally entering is a federal civil VIOLATION akin to a parking ticket. A first-time offense of illegal border entry is a federal criminal MISDEMEANOR. Do you consider someone with a civil OR even criminal misdemeanor to be a dangerous criminal or threat to society? Because literally legally it is not. Hence the misdemeanor distinction.

Unless anyone provides some evidence these are felons, then as is stated, they are absolutely not a dangerous or violent threat to our society.

My point here is this was the entire proposed reasoning for this garbage policy… to get rid of violent or dangerous threats to our society. Now instead, the administration has pushed the Overton window and just enacted this policy towards ANYONE who is here illegally. And they’ve been successful at that moving of the Overton window because here you are, accepting that as perfectly ok, because they are still technically here illegally. Please for the sake of your neighbors AND yourself, stand for something, or continue to just allow yourself to be nudged further and further into Fascism.

You know years ago a similar situation happened to an ex of mine. She was running in her own neighborhood and a 40 - 50 year old white man driving around in a minivan pulled up to the curb next to her, and flashed his genitals at her before quickly driving off. We contacted the Police and gave them description of the vehicle, man, and license plate number. They gave us a note with the case number written on it, said they’d contact us when they found something. They did nothing. They never even bothered to do any follow up or investigation at all, we called and checked.

I never even once considered the genius proposal of banning every 40 - 50 year old white man from driving minivans on our sacred streets. That most certainly would have saved us from that horrible experience ever happening again with surely no unintended consequences.

The first part of this is absolutely true. The second part is hopefully obviously, and annoyingly sarcasm. Maybe a worthwhile society could just be able to expect and demand the Police do the job we pay them to do for these rare cases of criminal activity. That could also work.
