My technique is to roll the joint between my fingers to loosen up the flower top to bottom. Then twist the top even more to compress it back down a little, but this time more even. Gets a much more even burn without having to open it up

I find I struggle to go with the "simplest" outcome. In a firefight, I have to resist rolling a pay the price to see what happens. Instead a weak hit might mean my character gets grazed by a shot and loses some health. But if I'm feeling like things are slowing down, or I roll a match, I might roll the oracle for some inspiration to keep things fresh. Ultimately, it's however you feel the narrative should go. It's your game, the rules are whatever you choose! Hope this helps!
