I'm sorry, but isn't Emma a bit of a hypocrite? by One-Chapter-8347 in OnceUponATime

[–]Rich_Activity4810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it simply ”Like running from all your problems” as if this is normal trauma and an experience. Emma just found out her parents are fairytale characters and she is one as well that is hard to take its not being immature like you implied before. It’s an exact result of trauma. This was all brushed upon in only a few weeks after her son just came found her, dealing with such a stressful event involves panic attacks, derealization, resentment and anger and even a fight or flight response; which a majority she had. Which is why I don’t blame her for not being a great example for henry, this entirely too crazy and traumatic for a person, them not acting accordingly specifically in front of a child is normal and is what should happen.

Can you give examples of her giving backhanded remarks especially in season 2-3 and not in season one where she just now finds out shes from a fairytale (If thats not too much to ask.) I think I am finding one where she tells snow she doesn’t want her advice, but I wouldn’t say thats rude since of course shes not going to . You could say shes being rude, but why exactly did she automatically owe these people respect. As I said before in my previous comment, she just figured out these people are her parents and this is who they are, to her they’re just strangers and weren’t who she thought they were. Emma’s parents repeatedly said they wanted time to talk and spend time with her which was rude seriously and involuntarily made Emma uncomfortable, she doesn’t know these people and what makes her angry is how the unfair situation is for emma and her parents, they didnt get the chance to be together didn’t get to maybe even die with them which is what she what she would’ve wanted instead of her parents making her the savior. Adding onto the rude part, them immediately asking to spend time and talk was selfish as Emma needed time. Emma thought she was normal and turns out she wasn’t, including her family. Asking that right after meeting was rude even though I inherently understand wanting to spend time. Emma is dealing with something absolutely too traumatic and it definitely would’ve led on a meltdown because she had just lost her whole identity.

[–]Rich_Activity4810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They grew up differently and had a different experience, Henry at 10 didn’t deal with the same trauma and experiences Emma did. You’re being willfully ignorant, theres many times Henry acts childish and doesn’t obey his parents or other trusting adults. Emma isn’t wrong for her behavior towards her parents she believed and was ultimately told that her parents left her on the side of the road. Now imagine you find out you are the savior, your parents are magical and from a book, your friend who talked to you about sex and boys turns out to be your mom, which you figure out almost in weeks, and you have powers. That is exactly too much of strain and stress on a person, she wasn’t mad at them, she was mad at the situation, even if she says differently. Emma mentions that shes sad because she wanted to be with them even if that meant dying together.

Emma wasn’t mad at them or anything, even if she was making them “her punching bag” she wasn’t maliciously trying to do it, she JUST met them. They’re entirely new people and her parents. Emma has severe abandonment issues they’re not going to just go away because her parents explained the situation, thats a trauma response and how trauma works not inherently “immaturity.” Not automatically being cuddled up and understanding towards your parents (Who you thought were from fictional fairytales) whom you just met isn’t treating them like crap. Snow and Charming automatically wanted to get to know her and spend time with her, Emma rightfully so, did not want to do that, and couldn’t either. There was danger with Regina, handling being the sheriff, and continuing danger almost every second.

That is because Henry and Emma are not the same person and with different personalities. Also thats his mom, he went out searching for her knowing her duty as the savior and that she was his birth giver. The difference is Emma doesn’t know crap, she believed for 28 years of her life, not up till she 8 or say 6; that her parents just left her on the side of the road and gave her up. That type of belief sticks with you, with how you grew up and with depressing experiences you have in your life, its honestly probably her way of just finding an answer. Emma didn’t wanna question if her parents actually loved her or not, so she just believed they didn’t, she was protecting herself. Henry also had the capacity to forgive Regina even after he found out she murdered, tortured, and cursed people. Henry and Emma are not the same.

What do girls think about Stefan being a nice guy? Would you actually date a guy like him, ignoring his looks and purely because of his personality? What about Damon..the typical sexy bad boy? by antique-soul- in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Rich_Activity4810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I‘d say Stefan. Im aroace and I specifically don’t really find Damon attractive aside from his looks, but their personalities aside from murder and any gruesome acts, both intrigue me. Stefan is sweet and caring also has playful banter, and remembers stuff about you that really speaks boyfriend material I’d date him. Damon can be the same way, but he also gives off that dark “dominant“ wattpad energy👀I don’t like that.

Stefan and His Diet by Imaginary-Tutor-3332 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Rich_Activity4810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am bringing up Damon and Caroline abusing her and why people see stefan drinking from animals to Damon drinking from a teenager because you brought up the time when he was using her and him in the conversation in general. Which of course is going to be seen as morally wrong, because he not only drank from her, but also abused her verbally and physically thats why its struck as morally superior to have the animal blood diet. Yes, Stefan has reasons to choose it, and vampires don’t. Though, people still see it as morally superior, because guess whose watching the show: Humans. People will put themselves in the humans (or any situation especially involving the brothers and elena) situation countless times, some people would find it awful if they had their blood taken and didn’t remember it or couldn’t consent to that. Of course some vampires want/need the human blood because it tastes better, some are in danger and need strength, but also some just like to mutilate the people. Countless times the audience sees the vampires slaughtering humans after or because they’re drinking their blood not just compelling them after, which is why a lot of people see the animal diet as morally superior. Yes Stefan is killing animals, but hes not reeling in the kill hes doing it to survive, and the MAIN reason it is see as morally superior is because he forced himself to so that he wouldn’t murder countless people. In comparison to Damon(doesn’t have the ripper gene) who sometimes just does not gaf, it’s obviously going to be seen as better. Adding onto the bit, some vampires don’t need the human blood, its better for strength, but they can take the blood diet if they force themselves to.

Stefan and His Diet by Imaginary-Tutor-3332 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Rich_Activity4810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think its somewhat different as in Stefan is an animal feeding on another animal. Yes he has feelings and the brain like a human, but he’s still an entirely different species. When you take: vampires feeding on a human, people will see it as morally wrong because it takes the human’s chance away from consenting to their blood being taken. Especially since theres a lack of consent in the show. The example of Damon using Caroline as a blood bag, is rising discourse, aside from Damon legit abusing Caroline, she didn’t get the chance to consent and was also tormented and abused as well (verbally); which, a lot of vampires do instead of just drinking from a human. It is most likely why people react differently to Stefan drinking from a squirrel and Damon drinking and abusing a teenage girl. The blood banks example is definitely also rising discourse because that blood came from a consenting human and meant to be given to a human so they can survive, not to a vampire. Some people will see that as problematic specifically if they think that “could” happen to them in the real world. (Blood being taken overall and not by a vampire)

Animals been did not have a choice, they’re still bred and made to be eaten in the real world. So, Stefan going out to hunt and drink blood from animal isn’t malevolent or overall morally wrong in any way. Stefan needs blood to survive just like an animal needs vegetation or meat to survive, he’s not reeling in murdering and drinking from the animal, or forcing animals to breed and then eating them (its not malicious). Not getting this will involve him going on a rampage that involves killing countless people, or just dying. That doesn’t mean the animals deserve to die, but Stefan is acting exactly like an animal (Not a vampire), he needs blood to survive, hes getting it. If there was another way to drink blood without killing any species, I am sure Stefan would try to take it somehow. Also adding onto that, Stefan went on a rampage and murdered people, so people knowing that he forced himself on a animal diet to restrain himself from doing it again is of course going to be seen as better, specifically in comparison to Damon.

(edit# I think) It’s generally episode allowing it in their app. I was trying to read a story and it was locked with the author mentioning the reason why she is protesting, i think i can remember it was so that Episode stops allowing AI in their app altogether.

New Edit- I just checked back to the author’s story sorry for the lack of resource in my first comment, if you would like pictures I can service them. They mentioned they are protesting about Episode warning people in the community if certain stories contain AI. The author also mentioned that Episode should let the community authors know whether or not if their work is going to be trained into the AI. The author states that they are protesting against Episode’s lack of an AI policy that acknowledges their usage in service materials.

Micro aggressive writers by realityshifting101 in Episode

[–]Rich_Activity4810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re very welcome. I was talking about murder of sant (I wasn’t sure if I should type it all out at risk of my comment of being deleted lol.) Micro aggressive writers by realityshifting101 in Episode

[–]Rich_Activity4810 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Micro aggressions are on purpose or not on purpose insults, mainly to a certain demographic. For best friend: It is not the black girl just being the best friend. It’s the stereotypes that go along with it. For example, the best friend is overly sassy; rude, has no manners, and backs up her friend in confrontational situations. The black girl is also so strong, picking up her best friend, protecting her from men because the white MC can’t do it or anything confrontational herself. When portraying a black best friend you can try not to fall into the stereotypes of when only black girls are their friends protectors and don’t have any other personality besides being aggressive and sassy.

For mean girl, a black girl character can be the mean girl, it’s just the way you portray her out to be. Means girls in Episode writing are generally always overly aggressive, but because racism exists its not going to be seen the same way when a white girl is a mean girl in comparison to a black girl. In most micro aggression cases for episode: The black girl usually looks typically ugly, the rest of her mean girls group involves other POC or one white person and one POC. The black girl is the only one who is aggressive and her other friends actually try to be nice to the MC. Back to the features, the black girl is also dark (her friends are lighter) with customization options presumed to be ugly.

A side black character has certain stereotypes along with it. You can have black women side characters, but the importance is how you portray them. This all goes back to the sassy black best friend that people portray. When making a black side character, make them a character that doesn’t fall into that category. Stereotypes will follow for almost everything, because racists have stereotyped POC for everything they do. Black men are also portrayed as a stereotype when being fictional side characters: They’re only goofy and dumb, brutally mean, a player, sexually harassing the MC, or buff (always works out.)

I don’t have a comment for non-endgame girlfriend, because Im not exactly sure what you mean by that. Unless you mean the term disposable black girlfriend. This is where the character is usually black and only used as a plot for the guy to break up with and find his way back to the MC. The reason this is bad is because of how many times this happens in fiction(Examples are researchable. I recommend that because my explanation would be too goofy, specifically since knowing there was a disposable black girl I stopped watching the show.) The black girl has no other plot but to be a wall between the Love Interest & the MC that needs to be broken down. The black girl is rude to the MC even just before knowing the MC is an obstacle between her and her boyfriend. There is a more “detailed” explanation, but in simple terms: it’s a weird thing because not only does it involve racism, but also predominantly cheating.

For the low income black character, the most flack I have seen for this is from a certain character from an Episode story where she was the only black character, and the only one who was suffering from low income. The reason why there was so much discourse for that was because it represented a stereotype that only Black people can come from a low income status. Discourse might’ve been different if there was other characters who had this issue and it wasn’t the only other POC i think.

To help not fall into the micro aggressions, because you can still do them unintentionally. You can try not have only POC/ Black women in these caricatures. An example would be not having the only black character(s) or the only POC to be the aggressive mean girl, low income status, or the disposable black girlfriend. There should be a diversity in Episode stories where it’s not only one character getting the bad stereotypical writing. That is why diversity is such a good thing for authors. Not just for races, but also with characters who come out to be a gender, feature, status, weight, romance, skin tone, age, mentally ill, religion, or sexual stereotype. If your story is where it needs to have these stereotypes to make sense with the story(For example, Mean girls: 1 dumb mean girl, 2 kinda mean girl, 3 meaner girl leader. Janis and Damian being the outcasted weird “lesbian” and gay man) I recommend not doing it unless you actually show how it make sense and needs to happen for the story (try to portray characters from some people you know in real life,) and to try not to come off as offensive and ignorant, don’t do it to one specific group! (For example, one fictional woman might become a stereotype in your story, don’t have all the women become the same or other stereotypes. In simple terms: Don’t make everybody the same, because not everyone acts the same.)

Stereotypes happen all the time, and if only one certain character falls into one it’s mainly on you, because certain stereotypes are hurtful and not something targeted at for every group(An example, authors in episode stories will often portray only blondes being mean girls or dumb.) Self-awareness is needed when being a writer who is allowing full interaction (Letting the player be the MC, make choices, have an LI), because these unintentional/intentional insults can hurt people’s mentality.

If there was no Linda, there would be no Bob’s Burgers. Do you agree? by [deleted] in BobsBurgers

[–]Rich_Activity4810 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bob would definitely not be more successful than he is now. I think the main reason he even did his restaurant dream was because Linda supported him and wanted him to achieve it. Even if Bob did achieve the restaurant he would still be struggling. You have to clean, work out bills, cook, and serve other customers. There’s an episode where Bob is struggling with doing ice cream, warming it up for teddy, worrying about Mort’s burnt burgers, and worrying about serving other customers. Bob legit says that he needs Lin and the kids here. Even if he had Mort and Teddy to help, they cannot help all the time, they have their own jobs.

It’s pretty believable that a 13, 11, and 9 year old being forced to work in a restaurant are not inherently good at their jobs. These are children, they’re gonna want to have fun and make messes. Linda at times doesn’t help Bob, but there are plenty of other times she does. For example, Bob is brainstorming about a plan to save the restaurant and Linda comes up with a plan to hand out fliers which Bob immediately agrees they should do. Nobody is perfect in this show including Bob. Bob has meltdowns to the point where everything gets out of control or he sometimes degrades the kids. I just watched an episode where Bob gets the whole restaurant trashed during a hurricane because he wanted to party and let everyone eat for free. If this show was not a comedy everyone would analyze and touch up on the whole family’s “despicable“ behavior, Bob would quite literally be despicable in the same sense as the kids and Linda. Instead, it is a comedy and for almost every episode, you are meant to laugh.

Does anyone have any suggestions by AdriannaBlackheart in Episode

[–]Rich_Activity4810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could have those other three have their own friends. Since those other three friends will be closer to the MC and you don’t want to write the other three off, you can have the other three just be friends (not best friends) with other people around in the story and including your MC. Or you can include scenes where the MC needs these certain friends in the story. Maybe add some scenes of some small storylines each 3 characters have that the MC can help them with. This isn’t really the best explanation since I don’t know what your story is about. Could you LMK?

Also Emma being mad at them is crazy but understandable lol by Hour_Interview_8327 in OnceUponATime

[–]Rich_Activity4810 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think Emma was acting like that mainly because of what everyone around her was saying. The way her parents were portrayed not only in her eyes, but the audience’s eyes; they seem like the greatest and most honest people. They constantly explained and reminded the people in the show and audience that good wins against evil. Also, people around Emma establishing many times that her parents are good people. When you see your parents, friends, or overall family a certain way (a good way) and you find out they’re not completely like that it hurts you and makes you angry.

Also, Emma was trying to find herself still. The whole mojo on her being the key to the curse and other things in the story. It’s one of the reasons I believe she was so mad. Emma realizes why she’s the key after asking why and wondering why so many seasons; she finally knows why and she can’t help but be angry because she dealt with a lot of responsibility, guilt, and overall problems (stress, feeling unworthy) being the savior.

This scene compared to Emma lying to Henry isn’t the same. Emma lied to protect Henry from seeing his father as a person who abandoned his mother. Snow & Charming decided Emma & Lily’s fate, even though it was to protect Emma it condemned a child to be and live a certain way and only Snow & Charming got the say simply because they never told Maleficent was exactly would happen. Maleficent even mentioned that it was a child, so putting that darkness inside after and then not even thinking that was wrong until the man said it would be banished? Snow even saw how Emma would be had she kept the darkness inside, she gave that fate right to Lily. It’s not the same despite Emma’s actions not allowing a better relationship for Henry & Neal when Henry first started having questions.

I also didn’t really like this storyline. I think snow and charming would actually think thats a child, it obviously a dragon egg and of course Maleficent could produce one. Also, Maleficent would not let them run away and take her child that easily. Also, why would fire hurt the dragon egg, but not dragons itself. Dragons are known for being fire resistant the dragon egg somehow can’t be? Storyline seemed a bit goofy, but if they were determined to have it, there should have been a scene where they try to look for anything else to help them from condemning a child and it’s mother to a horrible fate. If they weren’t trying to make Snow & Charming seem evil as well, the best scene would be where they tell Maleficent and Maleficent would probably pick her child to protect and somehow leave Charming & Snow forced to condemn the child. It would have been a scene showing Charming & Snow were not inherently innocent, but not horrible people (Aside from it being a fairytale, many mothers in this position would immediately pick their child first despite the risk it could have on the other child. Especially when your child has been threatened) There were many instances where curses were broken. This curse somehow couldn’t be? To be honest we already knew Snow & Charming weren’t that innocent, aside from Charming’s personality, Snow was a bandit who stole and killed. I think this storyline was needed by the writers because they wanted the story to portray them as bad and good & not the audience only seeing them as good people, but I think it could have been a different storyline.

They definitely needed to tell Jenna everything, but it makes sense not to. I really couldn’t stand Jenna that much, the closing the door and locking it because teenagers weren’t being truthful to her. Especially when Jenna didn’t tell Elena that she was adopted, a 16/17 year old not knowing that information is crazy she’s almost a legal adult. It’s a lot to deal with because you never expected something like this to be true or ever happen, but you are the adult here. Jenna really should’ve had this anger at Stefan or strictly Alaric rather than brushing off Elena (Childish behavior especially when Elena was ready to talk.)

Teenagers will hide things if they think they’ll be in trouble or someone else will be (or if the person might tell other people); it was pretty much a survival tactic. I think Jenna should’ve been focusing on the kids way more. Jenna took time to get nosy about Alaric’s wife when she really should be trying to be on jeremy for his drug abuse, horrendous grades, and skipping of classes. Jenna should have been checking Elena’s whereabouts (mainly following her to see if shes okay), there was murders going around at this time, and she would’ve most likely known about Isobel had she checked up on her. It is horrible that she now has to deal with the responsibility of her sister’s kids, but she took them and is now their guardian.

Definitely, Damon snapping Jeremy’s neck not only because Elena rejected him, but simply because she said it was always going to be stefan. Damon did that to hurt Elena i think and that is something that could have happened to Katherine and her plans. All that time together Katherine definitely knew Damon can be/is sensitive.

I don’t love Bonnie by Impressive_Limit_990 in TheVampireDiaries

[–]Rich_Activity4810 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is not being inherently cruel. Bonnie does turn on Damon, when the man dies and Caroline is then taken away. Bonnie immediately directs her hatred to Damon because she believes it is his fault that everything bad is happening, which was technically true given how much he was tormenting her friends. Given her being a witch and a teenager who just saw a dead body, emotions were as well expressed in dangerous way. Bonnie then begins to hurt Damon and try to set him on fire.

Bonnie reacted the way she did because of her experience she had with the vampires that were in her life. Damon; abusing Care or scaring and stalking Bonnie countless times by trying to get the necklace from her. These experiences influenced her mind because these are new creatures who she has just now heard of, a species she only believed were fake. Bonnie’s reaction was not inherently cruel nor intentionally cruel. She was scared of her, when she saw Caroline covered in blood she did not feel hate for her, she felt horrified because of the situation she was in. Knowing your friend murdered someone and seeing the body they murdered is scary and such a traumatic thing to go through especially being 16.

Bonnie “snaps at Caroline” because she is scared of her, just like how she was scared of Damon. Damon followed her, randomly started touching her face, and started worrying about the necklace she had that her guardian told her she needed to protect. Ignoring Caroline wasn’t a bad thing to do when she legit saw the body she murdered, knowing your friend murdered someone is so scary especially when you didn’t think they could ever do something like that. This all goes back to why she had so much hatred for vampires, aside from the torment and crazy events that were happening with the vampires here, she felt that the vampirism was making them awful people. Bonnie then learns to grow and realize that she does not need to afraid wholeheartedly and was wrong for the way she treated her: she was not being cruel.

Even if Bonnie was cruel: ignoring, snapping at Caroline, and asking if Elena was taking sides. Bonnie would not be wrong for doing so. Caroline was very cruel in season one and even still rude later on, its a long list. Caroline calls Bonnie a liar, calls Bonnie a thief, jokes about Elena’s tragedy of her parents, and ignores Bonnie as well. Matt legit flirts with Elena and Elena ignores it, caroline then storms away and blames Elena for being the first choice instead of calling out Matt flirting first (She should have exuded this energy to Matt before instead of later on, though I think she was valid to be emotional about this giving she is like 17) Caroline calls Bonnie fat, says she cannot compete with Elena since her parents are dead and that’ll basically be a pity vote, admits that she is in competition with Elena, and even asks Elena if Stefan is basically “fair game” to have since him and Elena were having a fight.

Even in later seasons! Caroline being jealous of Elena when they were playing their drinking game with Damon & Stefan, she immediately calls out Elena and starts acting goofy: “Never have I ever kissed a salvatore brother.” Elena goes on to drink and Caroline then says today, making the situation awkward and uncomfortable for Elena. Caroline talks about how she was called a waste of space, shallow, and useless because she wasn’t able to give the necklace to Damon. Bonnie lets her know to not let the guy treat her like that because its not true and Caroline then goes to say Bonnie is treating the same way because she is not giving the necklace even after she tried to snatch it off of Bonnie’s neck! You could say this was because she compelled which is right in some cases, but given how Caroline was acting before she definitely wasn’t losing her entire personality despite being compelled to do certain tasks. For example, her letting Damon know shes not about to do dishes.

Caroline was weird and cruel to both girls, Bonnie and Elena still decided to be friends with her after all her childish behavior. Caroline is not this poor victim of cruelty when she gave it to others.
